I just tried tacoesque for the first time and it was amazing! I got the lamb taco and beef sandwich. I might have to get more for dinner

One of my new favorites in Hoboken. Although I was devastated when Slider Street closed, I may like Taco Esque even more. Simple menu: taco, sandwich or bowl. Lamb bowl is my favorite. Make sure you get the crema!

The size of the tacos were tiny. The bread was nothing like the other Unilocal reviews. I should have taken a picture… IT was more like a McDonalds bun, or something out of a $ 1 bag of hamburger buns. The sizes of the taco were tiny. The tortillas were decent, but the recipes were uninspired. With how many Mexican chefs there are all over the place this was quite disappointing. Not worth the price at all. The roll really grossed me out… I wont get food poisoning, that’s good, but I’m still hungry after spending $ 25 with one other person… It’s unfortunate as they are very nice there…

Hidden little gem of a spot! Had the lamb tacos and the pork sandwich. Both incredible, simple, and very very flavorful. Supports local produce and are super friendly. Cool basement vibe too. Def going back!

As others have said, no frills taco and sandwich place. Definitely not a place to eat in but the food is delicious. I have only had the lamb sandwich but it was fantastic! Would highly recommend. One thing I do wish they would have is some options for a side dish.

Tacoesque is a no frills taco spot on 2nd. The menu is simple and to the point, taco, sandwich or bowl with your choice of meats. My boyfriend raved about this place and I finally caved in, even though I am not a fan of Spanish food. I am extremely happy I did. The flavors were on point. I tried the pork and the chicken taco and both were exceptional. If I had to pick one it would be pork but mostly because I’m a huge pork person. Not sure if the guy we talked to the owner or just an employee but he was really chill and we chatted about Made in America(movie that was on) and also the shop, we decided to eat our tacos there instead of taking them home since it was cold. He described the décor as retro and something of a 80/90s basement feel. Overall the flavor and service was some of the best I’ve had in a while. The décor is something that they acknowledged is a work in progress but as long as they keep the food and service up I don’t think anyone will mind. If I had to summarize it, Tacoesque is an amazing taco spot, rough around the edges but well worth it. Someone get them a lava lamp and get the party started. It’s on 2nd, a few doors down from the bridal shop in an inconspicuous spot so make sure to really keep your eyes open.

Tacos are small and pretentious but tasted OK. The tortillas are delicious. If you are going to make taco that size and charge four bucks a pop, they should have a little more flair than a few shreds of baby spinach and a flavored cream sauce. Really think of some interesting taste combination. I also ordered the noodle bowl and it just didn’t work for me. It’s simply the same kind of taco fillings on top of stodgy, clumpy rice noodles. Again, interesting idea; bad execution. I think this place means well but just needs a bit of tweaking and creativity.

Tacoesque opened up a few blocks from my apartment, so we thought we’d give it a try. Placed an order on GrubHub and got a call back in 15 minutes saying that my order was ready to be picked up. Sweet. We got the pork tacos, lamb sandwich, and chicken bowl. The tacos are just one(1, singular) taco. Not enough to be a meal. The taco was good, I’ve had worse and I’ve had better. The lamb sandwich was great and the lamb had a great flavor. Surprisingly, my favorite was the chicken bowl. I’ve never seen rice noodle in a mexican/taco concept but I’ll be going back for more.

Food is delicious, but the tacos are small and not really suitable for dinner all on their own. Wish they had some sides to choose from, but will definately order from again!

One of the more random eateries I’ve been too. The address is on Park Ave but it’s actually on 2nd. There is a make-shift sign that says Tacoesque on the sidewalk but it looks more like a speak easy or some dude’s basement bar. Or an elk club. The owner — sitting at the bar(there isn’t any liquor) said the theme is like an 80s basement. He is partners with the owner of Dozinos — which I don’t know the hours for but not seems randomly open. Back to the basement — it’s sort of a shitty 80s basement but it’s a cool shitty 80s basement. Posters of Patrick Ewing, Mike Tyson, Michael Jordan, Richard Simmons and of course Frank Sinatra adorn the walls. There is an old fridge with magnetic letters where they keep water and Coke(from Mexico). Wood paneling. The menu is tacos for 4 bucks, sandwiches for 6 and noodles for 9. Lamb, chicken, beef, pork and a market vegetable are the options. They make their corn tortillas on premise and choc o pain makes the rolls. I ordered the lamb noodles, chicken noodles and a pork taco. The lamb noodles are awesome actually. They have crema and some leaves. It works though. The taco was excellent as well and the pork was juicy. The chicken noodles were ok — but better when I dumped Chalula on them. The previous establishment lasted 9 months(a burger joint). Hope this one lasts longer and they get some better signage and update the look a little bit. They are on Seamless and — which will help provided they can deliver quickly and he food is consistent. Good luck.

My husband and I came back today for more Taco and sandwich goodness… We both got the pork tacos and the tortilla is even more supple and flavorful although it was already perfect last week! We then shared a beef and lamb sandwich… oh my God! sooooo good. The bun is specially made by choc o pain and is incredible in texture, with a golden crust and great flavor complementing the flavorful meat which is embedded in fresh herbs and yogurt based sauce. Again perfection! All the stress of the work day just melts away! Chef(although he refers to himself as a ‘pizza maker’) Marc Magliozzi is truly a passionate perfectionist and his food a true labor of love. Food can be ordered on Seamless and Grubhub… but as we live close, we prefer eating at the counter when the delicious hot food comes right out of the kitchen to be enjoyed on the spot. We grab a coke(even the coke is the better less oversweet kind, made in Mexico). And the company can’t be beat!
