Had to come to Hoboken for a Dr appointment. We were early and I was starving. We wandered around and discovered SARA’S deli. When we walked inside the kitchen seemed empty and like it did not get much use, but I ordered an egg sandwich anyway. I watched the gentleman make the sandwich and quickly realized that this was not going to be a typical deli bacon egg sandwich. I have no idea what herbs he put in the eggs, but the whole thing including the bread was perfect. Best egg sandwich I ever had. Life keeps leading me to unexpected gems and I am thankful. If you are lucky enough to live in Hoboken SARA’s needs to become your breakfast spot.

Great little place with delicious falafels! Very tasty and the homemade hot sauce is just full of flavor! A must try. Our next thing to try is the chicken pitas. Looking forward to it.

I love having this deli on our block. The guy who owns it is always friendly no matter if you’re there to tap their MAC machine or get some food. I happen to think their Greek salads are out of this world. Where else are you getting four real grape leaves and a salad for less than $ 8?! Just don’t head here on Fridays for lunch as they are closed during that time.

Sara(Sa — rah, not Sarah the girl you dated in 7th grade) is, first, convenient mini market for people who live in the area; and second, and most importantly, a culinary experience in Syrian cuisine. I say this semi-sarcastically. Sara, the man who runs the store, will inevitably being staring at you when you walk in. Say hello to this man, he is a very pleasant person and has some interesting life stories. If you are feeling basic get yourself a very good falafel sandwich(really, it’s a wrap). If you are feeling ambitious, get the $ 20 meat platter. You’re saying ‘no way’ right now in your head. If you judge this book by its cover, this would not be a place to purchase meat; but that’s the beauty of it. Sara convinced me with his sampling techniques, to spend $ 20 on three varieties of meat over rice and salad. He then spent 30 minutes handcrafting and presenting his creations to me in various take out containers. It was convincing — he genuinely wanted me to enjoy his food and did everything in his power so that I would. And I did. Which is why I tell you of this experience now. He also sells every sort of tobacco and smoking paraphernalia that exist to mankind, which is cool, if you are into that. I just thought it was funny and off putting to some. Gotta keep the hidden gems hidden, ya know…

This location gave up on their menu and has not restocked cigarettes for months. Trust me, everyone USEDTOBE excited about this place. I live above the deli and their foods used to be much, much nicer. At first, they would display fresh sides, kabobs, falafel, etc. and everything looked very fresh. But now most of the prepared foods seems to sit for at least a week. The food trays don’t move day in and day out so it’s pretty obvious when they replace them. This coincided with the chefs(large guy with thick accent) leaving. None of the food is prepared with the same care anymore. Proceed with caution. Also, only the sandwiches have a posted price and the cashiers each seem to have their own pricing. I once got a side of fish salad with my sandwich — the sandwich $ 8, one serving of a side… $ 10??? The same thing has happened when buying other items like drinks. Sometimes $ 2, sometimes $ 4. Inconsistent pricing is a pain… And now the biggest pain. They havent restocked cigarettes in months. Just Capris…

I live right near this place. The guys who work there(owners?) are super nice and I dont normally write Unilocal reviews but I want to give them a shout out. The first time I came here I got a falafel platter and it was delicious and very fresh. I want to try the breakfast sandwiches and philly chease steak next.

Sara Grocery & Deli replaced Zena on the corner of 4th and Jefferson. Very clean, well stocked, fresh ingredients, thoughtful hardworking and courteous staff! It reminds me of The Little Grocery in that each meal is prepared with passion and enthusiasm — they really take pride in their cooking and you can tell that they love their craft with every bite you take!
