History

Established in 2015.

Literally speaking MDB was established in 2015. Figuratively the barbershop has been in the works since 1997. Mark started cutting hair in his parent’s basement on a metal folding chair. He tied a desk lamp to a ceiling rafter for light and used scrap wood to create a work station. Above his station the mirror from his bedroom dresser hung proud.

Perhaps the aesthetics have changed slightly, but the feeling you get when you walk in and sit in the chair and the glow you take with you when you walk out haven’t changed in the least. Anyone can buy furniture and scissors, but this sentiment cannot be bought. In fact Mark’s main concern was duplicating that comfortable, unpretentious and warm atmosphere. It’s safe to say the quality of his craft, knowledge of the industry and life experiences have only further developed since the early days. Each day that passes only adds to our story and it’s the history and those experiences that make us unique and separate us from the rest.

Business Owner

I was born in 1983, raised in New Jersey and started cutting hair in 1997. Moved to Hoboken in 2012. Lost my job in corporate and made the hair thing official that same year. Shortly after made it my job and never looked back. I like to work out and sometimes I write things. I will eat and answer anything. Not necessarily in that order.
