White’s Bakery

White bakes a phenomenal white cake. Unsure if this is considered circumstantial irony, or subconscious marketing, or simply the golden child of their extensive bakery case. Whichever the case, get a smash cake (single tier with killer frosting for $ 11) and split it with a pal.
The rest of the items are hit or miss: kudos on the key lime tart and the blueberry muffin, bah to the lobster tail (too spongey, no crisp to the «fins» and the filling lacked that citrus-​kissed, savory ricotta base in favor of a basic whipped cream), and cupcakes, cinnamon rolls and black and white cookies faring only okay.
I’ll definitely hit up their pre-​made meal cooler, and I’m dying to bring home a glorious looking loaf of freshly baked bread or a pictureque apple pie. The prices are decent (esp for the area), and the staff are cordial and attentive.
Currently a rounded up 3.5, with hopes of a proper 4+ as I eat through the menu. (Somebody get me a new belt.)

Great pastries! We picked up a cake for an event and grabbed some treats to snack on recently, and everything was delicious! The cannoli were on par with what you can get in the North End, and my husband got a lobster tail, which delighted him because he has not seen any bakeries make them in years.

I went everywhere trying to find a bakery for my daughter’s first birthday. I knew exactly what I wanted: a smash cake and a big cake to match! Everywhere was either rude or couldn’t do what I wanted it could do it but charged a ton for it!
The people at White’s were soooo friendly and could tell I was stressing about this cake haha they looked at my picture and confidently walked me through my options and pricing. I got a great vibe from the place and staff so I placed my order.
When I picked it up I could have cried’ the cakes were EXACTLY what I wanted!!! Thank you White’s for helping make my girl’s first birthday perfect!

White’s original location was larger and offered a better experience in terms of browsing and feeling comfortable; there current location feels cramped. Maybe it’s there pastries. I’m not a fan of really sweet dessert items so when I bite into their Turnovers or cakes, I was reluctant to finish eating and tossed it out. The only appealing food is their Blueberry turnover. It’s lightly frosted and has a generous amount of blueberries.
Overall, not a bad place but when I’m in the area, this is the last place I think of coming to.

I had made a mental note to come back to this bakery. Now I’m sorry I did! Just like I remembered everything looked so delicious and fattening. But I figured what the heck, you only live once. I bought this cappuccino cupcake, absolutely worth all the calories. To my great surprise there was chocolate chips inside it and was drizzled with some kind of frosting. I enjoyed eating it with my cup of tea.
This café is very well laid out, besides the usual counter top with the sweets behind the counter, they had two very large tables on the middle of the store. One could check out with out help assortment of cakes and other sweets.
There are seating area and all together there is a very nice atmosphere to this café. Now I must come back another time to check out all the different breads that its baked here.

Always like to stop by whenever I visit. The fruit tarts are delicious. However the strawberry shortcake was kind of bland. The bottom was soaked with the strawberry sauce. it was a bit much. The canoli was ok but just blah.

Went in for some between game snacks. Ended up with a ham and cheese croissant (my picky son liked it). A cinnamon coffee cake muffin was tasty, crispy on the outside and very delicate inside. A plain croissant was flaky and moist on the inside. And a cinnamon roll with raisins (ran out of plain), was good and sticky and delicious.
Coffee was very good, also.
Counter help seemed to be ok until I asked for a couple of add ons at the end (the coffees) both black coffees. Then It seemed I was in the 10 items or less register with 11 items.
Otherwise a good experience.

Always has been average to mostly above average.
Just keep an eye out when picking up pies. Bought key lime pie to bring to friends last weekend and it was 75% whip cream. Embarrassing and disappointing. Filling was barely an inch high.
If it was the first time I would let it slide, but it wasn’t. Maybe bad luck on my part, and while White’s is very good overall, hard not to be upset by this… again.
Crust on pie is top notch and the key lime was fine. Not a traditional key lime with that tart bite in it, more sugary and sweet.

Called three days a head to order a customize cake over the phone. Great customer service, and the cake came out amazing! Very satisfied with the cake!

I must say Bravo to the whole team here at Whites! For the last 3 years I have had this Bakery make cakes for my kids birthday parties, last year they made Sully and Mike cupcakes (monster’s inc.) and a Woody (toy story) cake. This year they made an amazing Jack the Skeleton cake and it was out of this world. They nailed it! It tasted as good as it looked too! No matter what, if you want a true masterpiece cake, they can do it, not sure how… but WOW!!! Thanks guys, your cake was a highlight. The pictures we took are great and you helped to make another very special memory for my children and family. Love White’s!!!

Welp, I’ve now visited this place more than 20x in the last few years. The plus is when one happens to magically choose the «freshest» items– they are actually pretty darn tasty, but then again the odds of getting this selection are always stacked against you with the myriad of choices that they offer daily. I’ve had items ranging from an actual pie that when cut open on day one revealed a decidedly unpleasant blueish-​purple mold, and another time a key lime pie slice had this particularly foul and perplexing flavor (of perhaps a spoiled product) at the finish of each bite. On the other hand, the lemon mousse cake, vibrant in décor is always amazingly good. If one opts for the bakery case, pecan rolls, muffins, and apple struedels always seem fresh and quite nicely prepared. The growing selection of cupcakes well aesthetically pleasing, offer very little flavor that differs from say grabbing the yellow tub of sugar that is always waiting for you in your home pantry and diving in with a fav spoon.
Our consensus vote is because they offer so many options, picking the best and freshest choices are nearly impossible statistically and the bad experiences have been quite offensive lowlights, thereby dropping our rating from 3 to 2 stars overall. There are much better reasonably close local options from Konditor to French Memories.

I read the reviews from Unilocal and decided I’d make a stop at White’s. I selected one of their tarts and a few slices of their cakes. Each and everything item I choose turned out to be delicious. The service was quick and kind and the displays were pristine. If yo’re a bakery fan or need a quick treat I highly recommend White’s!!!

The cannoli is delicious! The coconut macaroon is delicious! The mini cheesecake wasn’t special but I will definitely be back.

The absolute best bakery option on the South Shore, in my opinion. Everything is fresh and moist and taste the way it should taste. Sometimes bakery products just taste sweet and sugary but you can’t really taste anything else. That’s not the case with White’s. Their key lime pie and their chocolate cakes are really, really good.

So, I am never too afraid to try new things. Saw them on the Phantom Gourmet and said hey, maybe I will give them a try for my birthday cake. I do have a favorite place that I normally go to but decided to give someone else my business. Walked in the bakery is set up nicely. It was clean. The girl who helped me was very polite and answered any questions I had about my custom cake. I wish I could remember her name but she only left her initials on my order slip (M.F)…bought two diff cupcakes to try and both were great. Continued with order and she went back n forth to the designer letting me know what I wanted could be done! I was so excited at the price too despite the fact I paid almost $ 300 for my cake/​cupcakes last year.
When I got back home the same day, I had a message from them stating they had charged me too much. Nice of them to be honest! Anywho, my sister picked up my cake for me and when she got it to the house she couldn’t wait for me to see it! Bottom line is, the design was perfect and it tasted great. Def not a fan of fondant, but it made the quilted look pop and whatever fondant they used didn’t taste bad either. I had a choc cake w/​chocolate buttercream icing and cupcakes were original gold cake with vanilla butter cream icing. So good. I was so impressed, I will def be back again. Not only for the desserts but I’ll need to try the food! Thank you Whites of Hingham.

I love whites so much! Worth every penny!
I always get the tirimisu cakes, canolis, the ones with chocolate strawberries on them, just everything tastes good and fresh. Been going to this location and their Brockton location since I was a little kid.

A few months ago we decided to order my birthday cake from here for a change instead of a bakery in town we always go to. I looked online at their selections and as soon as I saw raspberry mousse as one of their fillings, I need not look any further. Raspberry mousse and not jam/​jelly? Heck YES.
I opted for a yellow cake with the rasp mousse and buttercream frosting. My husband picked it up the day before my birthday bc it’s on a holiday so I was hoping it would still be fresh. For some reason the girl told him to put it in the fridge even though it didn’t have whip cream. Must keep it fresher?!
Anyway when I saw the cake the next day it was huge! I think it was12″ but it looked a lot bigger. The writing and decorating wasn’t too impressive but I didn’t care. The cake itself was to die for. The mousse was outta this world and the whole thing was so fresh. We learned after having it the next few days to take it out of the fridge and get it to room temp and that made the mousse and buttercream so creamy and smooth. It was probably the best cake I’ve had in a long time.
The cupcakes aren’t great and are unfortunately stale and tend to lack flavor most of the time. While the cakes are good, the decorating and writing is just terrible. Supermarket cakes look much better. We got an anniversary cake for my parents and a last minute gender reveal cake and the writing on both was atrocious. It looked like colored pencil. It was rather embarrassing to think such a place like whites would decorate so poorly. If we want a cake just for flavor we will go here but if we want it to look good, we plan to stick with a local bakery that decorates much better and makes the cakes very presentable… not like a third grader who just learned cursive.

My family have been long time and loyal customers of Whites. Every birthday and special celebration has included a cake from White’s. Therefore, it was very disappointing and upsetting when the cake we had most recently was well below their standard. As we cut it, it was falling apart. We contacted White’s and explained the situation. The lack of concern or good customer service from them was quite surprising. They eventually relented and said to return the cake.
When the cake was brought to them, they would not refund what we had paid for it. Worst of all, they laughed at my father and he could see them mock him in the back room. Rather than coming out to speak to him, they sent out one of the young girls to deliver the message that he could have a partial store credit and his money would not be refunded.
Regardless of how much we have enjoyed the bakery goods at White’s, the poor treatment of a long time customer has just caused the loss of business of our family (11 adults and many children).

Hold the phone… did someone say .75 cent cupcakes! Hold on. I need to go buy a dozen. Very rarely you’ll see cupcakes (even if they are only vanilla or chocolate) for under a $ 1 at a bakery.
We bought a few things from this bakery for my mothers birthday. I’m surprised I didn’t walk out with loaves of bread too. But we stuck to sweets.
We grabbed a few cupcakes, slice of strawberry cake and cannolis. The cupcakes were great. my mom was a huge fan of the cannoli’s. neither was I… but the cake was delicious.
Prices were awesome, the girls there were awesome and very patient with me. I couldn’t make up my mind. Can’t wait to come back!

I stopped in to White’s to pick up some cupcakes for my better half’s birthday. The service here has always been A+ in all my trips. The staff that works here is always willing to answer any question you have about any product, and they know them all. Tell them what you like, or what you don’t like, and they will be happy to help.
I wasn’t impressed with a vast selection of different cupcakes, but with choices between red velvet, pumpkin spice, peanut butter delight, and chocolate lover’s dream … I picked out two red velvet cupcakes, two peanut butter cupcakes (chocolate cake with a peanut butter frosting), and the chocolate lover’s dream cupcakes. Overall, I have to give the cupcakes an «ehhhhh…» rating. The buttercream frosting was the best part as I found the red velvet cake to be rather dry and lacking any real flavor. The chocolate cupcake for the peanut butter cupcake seemed to have a richer taste, but still a little dry.
However, I am not ready to write White’s off just yet. The selection of cakes and treats is expansive, and the staff is extremely pleasant. I will like to think of this instance as a one-​time fluke. The prices are very reasonable — a little pricier than what you will find in the North End — but worth it.
