Ever wonder why Fresh Market’s produce is so bad? Because it sits for days as anyone in their right mind goes to the Fruit Center for produce. Also, fantastic meat, seafood, deli and cheese counters. Great place to buy spices too, their Fruit Center labeled spices are a great buy and fresh. If it’s fresh meat, fish, or produce you are looking for and can’t find it here… you don’t need it.

Fruit Center salad bar is unsurpassed! When I worked in the area it was a weekly go to for me. To be quite honest salad isn’t something I normally crave, I am more of a burger and fries girl myself but with the huge selection of all the different toppings it’s hard not to find something you won’t love. The soup here is also amazing! I’m pretty sure I had a printed copy of the soup schedule at my desk at some point– corn chowder is a personal fave here. Clearly I wasn’t doing a whole lot of real grocery shopping here outside of the salad bar section but if you are looking for a quick and healthy meal to go Fruit Center is perfect.

LOVE this adorable market! It is so beautiful inside and the displays are lovely. It has everything you need (including salad bar!) and is such a convenient spot for groceries, dessert, even wine!

Great service, unparalleled produce selection, great deli and specialty items. The fruits and veg are reasonably priced, the fishmonger and butcher are excellent, the groceries, a gourmet shop selection, and you’re paying a premium. They have good stuff like jumbo cashews, a good selection of canned Mexican groceries (can you find tamales anywhere else?) exotic chocolates, amazing fresh local strawberries or corn or figs, and they keep an eye on it to make sure there’s no duds. There is an attached liquor store with interesting wine and a cute pup who sleeps under the cash register. I’m a fan! Check it out.

So for Christmas Eve, it’s time to pull out the flame thrower. I used to like this place, but during my last trip here…
I was in line at the checkout counter with one item of groceries and there was a man in front that was paying for his. An older woman behind me started to yell, «Aren’t you going to put your things on the counter?» I responded, «There’s someone in front of me, so what’s your problem?» She then exclaimed, «People are waiting!» There was NO ONE behind that woman. Even had I put my one singular item on the counter, it wouldn’t have mattered because the man in front was still paying. The cashier looked sympathetic towards me but kinda shrugged.
So that woman grabbed some things underneath a closed counter, which led me to believe she was an employee there. It was a Saturday and I didn’t really want to go on the war path. However, I was this close from asking for a manager.
I’ve encountered some really awful/​idiotic employees at this location, and to a lesser extent in Milton. Some of them just don’t seem professional at all, especially compared to employees at other markets around, like Trader Joe’s and Fresh Market. Generally, the cashiers are friendly, but everyone else has been terrible the last several trips for me.
You’re not worth it, Fruit Center. Your prices aren’t nearly good enough for me to take crap from you. I have so many choices around this area, and I’ll be going to TJ’s and The Fresh Market from here on out.

Worked here in HS and have to say there has never been another market that has come even close to compare in fruits, freshness and uniqeness. Love the salad bar, the deli, the fresh squeezed OJ (I used to go in at like, 5 am to squeeze, highschool hungover or not ;)…and the wine annex is also pretty great. I heart local family businesses.

High end, grocery and prepared food store (also main location in East Milton Sq), Like a small Whole Foods or Fresh Market. Very nice meat and seafood depts along with great salad bar. A bit pricey but worth it as its nice stuff and you are in and out fast.

Love this place and friendly service! They have a great variety of fruits and vegetables with competitive prices. Best part is the produce is so fresh that it lasts much longer than big supermarket produce. I also love all the specialty products they carry from small local purveyors including bakers, confectioners, dairy, bakers, etc. The meat and fish departments are actually separate stores, fish is excellent quality though pricy. Meat is unfortunately very basic commodity meats which are nothing special and offer little value. I buy my meat and basic grocery items elsewhere, but everything else comes from the Fruit Center. Highly recommend.

The produce is very fresh and clean. The deli is second to none. They have all sorts of good meats and are very helpful at the counter. The Fruit center can get a little pricey but I think the quality of the products makes it worth it. If you are looking for great products this is the place you should go to

I love the Fruit Center — the only thing keeping me from giving it 5 stars is the priciness. The salad bar is amazing — however, it is not hard to make a crazy expensive salad. You start at the lettuce and raw veggies, and you’ve made a healthy salad… when you get to all the GOOD stuff… and then you start piling up your salad with crazy salads of beans and barley and cheese and olives and breaded artichokes (which are awesome), and mini brussel sprouts (also awesome), and pickled everything, and tons of various forms of chicken, and mayo-​packed salads… and you leave there with a $ 12 salad and no nutritional value left in your container… but it’s still delish.
The store itself has all sorts of interesting things, lots of funky jams and salad dressings and hot sauces. If you’re looking to do regular grocery shopping, I’d venture elsewhere, but for unique cheeses and dips and all the things you can’t find in other stores, and didn’t know you were looking for, the Fruit Center’s where it’s at.

They sell some hard-​to-​find, regional brands. But the prices are becoming prohibitively expensive.

Love the fruit center. Very fresh produce and deli. Very clean. Employees are very helpful especially at the deli. Inside is a nice meat market and fish store. Great specialty food shop!

Who needs Whole Foods when you have the Fruit Center?
The Fruit Center offers a great selections of fresh produce, meats, cheeses, prepared foods and dry goods. The variety and the freshness of the produce is generally superior to the local chains and while some items are more expensive, it is usually only marginally and for a much better product.
The prepared foods section here has come in handy for me numerous times on those nights when you just say to yourself «I can’t possibly put forth the effort to make dinner» and you don’t want to spend a fortune on greasy takeout. Grab anything from fresh pasta to mashed potatoes to mac and cheese and you have a quick, easy, affordable meal.
The Fruit Center also offers a wide variety of local brands, giving you the option to conveniently support local vendors. All in one stop, you can pick up your Alfredo’s Pasta from Quincy, homemade ice cream from Hingham and homemade pizza shells from Brockton. These are items not easily found in the local S&S!
Staff is always friendly and helpful, even on busy days.
All in all, a great place to shop when you need to break out of your mindless push the cart down the aisle routine!

A nice little local Whole-​Foods style grocery store. I love their candy selection too :) Lots of prepackaged gummies in different containers. Oh and how could I forget the best thing they offer? They have a really yummy salad bar that’s good for those humid summer nights when you don’t want to eat something hot.

Just two days ago when I was shopping here, it occurred to me that for quite some time now, I have been doing at least 90% of my food shopping in this fabulous store. I always shopped here but interspersed it with more frequent forays to Whole Foods and trips to some of the larger supermarkets.
But more and more, I’ve been deciding to forgo any of the larger stores, mostly because more and more it was becoming harder to bear the vastness and impersonality and the commotion of other places.
Since my last review, I’ve happily noticed the Fruit Center carrying more organically-​grown fruits and vegetables. I’ve upped them to 5-​stars as a result. I’m still hoping for even more organic options going forward particularly for those months we are without our beloved Farmers Market.
Yes, the prices can be higher at the Fruit Center, but that’s not always true. With the fruits and veggies, I find the prices quite comparable to other stores but yet the quality is always better than say, Stop and Shop. There are almost always specials on things too.
I still love that there is almost never a line at the checkout. My time, just like everyone else’s, is valuable and limited so this offsets the concerns I have that sometimes I am paying a bit more than I would at Stop and Shop.
There is always plenty of staff. It’s easy to find someone toward whom a question can be directed. And the staff is pleasant and people appear to enjoy their jobs! Imagine?!
As well, I remain appreciative and impressed with how wonderfully integrated and involved the Fruit Center is with the Hingham community.
This week, I read in our local paper that the Fruit Center is holding a fundraising program to benefit the 4 public elementary schools in town. They plan to designate 4 shopping days where 5% of their total sales will be donated to one of the 4 schools. The first 2 dates are Oct. 28^th to benefit South School and November 4^th for the Plymouth River School. The other 2 dates to be announced.
I may occasionally pop into one of the large supermarkets monthly or so for paper towels, detergent, toilet paper and the like but those times are fewer and fewer. I still enjoy Whole Foods for the sheer abundance of excellent choices when that”s what I need or am in the mood for but I’m going there less as well. The Fruit Center is the rule now and not the exception. And another shout-​out to the great folks in the attached wine shop. Love them too just for being there and for all the fabulous wines I’ve learned about from them!

I have the Fruit Center, Stop & Shop, The Fresh Market, Hannaford & Whole Foods all as nearby options and I choose the Fruit Center over them all.
Friendly staff. Great prices. Great selection of produce, seafood and meats, prepared foods, an incredible salad bar AND a wine store all in-​house.
Plus, they carry Stonyfield Farm Chocolatey Mint frozen yogurt which is not easy to find — and so incredibly amazing.

I finally got a chance to try that salad bar which had been haunting me for months. It lived up to my hopes and offered several specifically mentioned vegan items. Great, flavorful lunch!
But what really knocked my socks off, even in the heat of summer, was the flower arrangement they made up for me to have sent to a friend. I had called last week and spoke with Rita who described to me a lovely idea. I told her to go ahead. Sometimes it can be disappointing sending flowers. Usually one does not get to see what is sent and sometimes one is disappointed when one does. This was not the case! The flowers are gorgeous!!! My friend was over the moon about them, understandably. She is even quite the envy of her friends there, LOL.
One might not think of the Fruit Center for sending flowers but please do! You will not be sorry. :)))

Whenever I drive through HIngham, I usually stop at the Fruit Center just for the salad bar. They have an entire room dedicated to salad! Then, I usually end up needing a few more things, and next thing I know, I’ve spent $ 50. But, it’s so worth it. The produce is very fresh, and the prepared foods near the deli are delicious!

Located just a hop, skip, and a jump away from my place of work, I am a frequent shopper at the Fruit Center. And by shopper, I mean soup bar addict. The Three Bean Vegetarian Chili is my personal fav — southwestern in feeling and perfectly spicy. (And I’m not even a vegetarian!) The salad bar is equally wonderful. Soooo many choices let you create the kind of salad you wish you could make at home, but discover you’re missing 11 of the required ingredients… Or is that just me?
Of course it also has lots of fresh produce, organic options, and a great deli. After all that healthy stuff, don’t forget to check out the candy aisle. The chocolate-​covered gummy bears? LOVE. THEM.
