History
Established in 2008.
Located at 16 West Main Street and listed on the National Registry of Historical Places, the Young Building was constructed in 1913 with sandstone taken from the adjacent mountain. Once Young’s Cash Store and the Ben Franklin’s Five and Dime, the building was reconstructed in 2001 and Appalachian Artisan Center (AAC) was born. The AAC Café opened in September 2008, serving delicious and affordable lunch, coffee, and pastries.
