Hilton Head Marriott Resort & Spa

I was not impressed by this hotel. The staff seemed disengaged when I checked in — I had to ask all of the usual questions myself like about breakfast and check-​out time. I am a Gold Elite member and I asked for a slightly delayed checkout time (which is a new Elite member benefit) and the woman got kind of annoyed and then finally delayed my checkout time by one hour. The pools were not that impressive — the first night we were there it was filled with bugs and quite disgusting even though it was not due to close yet. It was clean the other two nights. The beach access was quite nice and the room service did leave us a basket of extra towels and soap on one of the days we skipped room service, which was great. But overall this is not worth the money, especially not as a Gold Elite member.

We are staying in room 522. We’ve been here 12 hours and our room has flooded three times from the air conditioning. We didn’t expect mold and algae for our $ 450 a night room! We reserved adjoining rooms that were not available when we arrived, the door key didn’t work and the safe didn’t work. Yeah the mold and algae could be a problem for any body with lung problems! Overall this place has been very disappointing!

Love this Marriott. Right on the beach, clean and updated rooms and décor, Conroy’s restaurant was nice and quiet for dinner with an expansive menu of in unique cuisine and the café next door served good food as well as had a full bar. Ordered breakfast in and can’t complain. The beds are comfortable, nice fluffy bathrobes, everything working and tidy. Sat on the balcony and enjoyed light music from below.

The location is fantastic and a highlight is renting bikes and riding on the beach and surrounding neighborhood. The beach is steps away and beautiful. However I have to say I was taken back by how dates the hotel was. We own a Marriott timeshare and they have to update every 7 years which should be a requirement for a Marriott which you expect to be at the top off all their chains. It was raining the first day and there were roof and window leaks. Management hopefully you read these posts and get a rehab underway because this is too great of a location not to have the Marriott in top shape.

Overall, a good experience, but my review is based on what I would expect at a Marriott that charges $ 250-​$ 400 per room. First of all, the vegetarian dining options are poor. Second, the rooms & hotel overall need improvement — it looks old & there is wear & tear. Third, the TVs are very small. Fourth, this hotel charges a resort fee, when they should charge it as part of the overall room charge. It is in a good location near trails & the beech, & staff were friendly. Covered parking is limited, so watch out in the rain. I got a call from concierge several days before our visit & they were going to send me information on vegetarian dining & things to do, but got no response, & when I got there, concierge said that they do not call guests prior to arrival, so not sure what happened there. Finally, wifi issues at Marriott’s persist with frequent problems connecting — probably also not fee for all guests. No internet in the conference rooms though we were guests.

Liked: large pool area right on the beach with all the amenities including a beautiful hammock area, large clean rooms
Disliked: no screen on balcony door making it impossible to sleep with window opened as balcony was infested with palmetto roaches.
Music blaring from 10 am to sunset in pool area and no way to escape it to read in peace and/​or fall asleep

–overpriced. Got a suite for the kids to be in a separate room. $ 400/​night and our view is of the roof of the building behind us.
–facilities are outdated. Agree with what others have said about hotel needing modern update like others
–self parking was fine. $ 14/​day. Just have to walk down a little hill
–housekeeping was less than desirable. Room wasnt cleaned for 2 days. Had to call and request and still by 130pm wasnt cleaned. Ran into housekeeper in hallway and asked if she could do our room and she said ‘its not on my list but i will do it’. We were thankful trash was changed and new towels/​etc. but no new soaps in one bathroom and 1 toilet paper wasnt refilled! Had to call front desk to request toilet paper.
Overall the price exceeds the benefits. Its not a bad hotel, but not would i would expect for nearly $ 400/​night quality

Hotel has great beach view but the room had some small issues. The roof was rotten and the door to the mini fridge was damaged. Our bags were also taken to the wrong room

Upon arrival the place seemed wonderful. The first day (was supposed to be our only night) was great, friendly employee’s everywhere, clean room, amazing view, and just a perfect beach spot. We extended our stay due to business near the island that wound up taking several more days. In the beginning (as Marriott platinum elite member’s with our company) they were happy to add additional night’s for us as we continued to work each day (30 miles away) and try to relax each night. Our keycard’s had to be re-​programmed multiple times during our stay. They would tell us, ‘keep them away from phones and credit cards.’ (We’re in a Hilton now elsewhere having placed our key cards in all the places Marriott told us not to and haven’t had a problem at all.) We ordered room service twice and the staff that brought the food was both friendly and cordial but I would say the food was only mediocre. The last day of our job we wanted nothing more than to relax and head to our next destination the following morning. The front desk became extremely rude, forward, and no longer willing to help us. We inquired multiple times with them in regards to another night. They stated the hotel was booked but informed us due to our level with Marriott we could basically be first on the list. The more we inquired as the check-​out neared the lower their level of customer service became. We actually got the point of looking forward to leaving. What a disappointment! We will definitely look elsewhere on the island if we ever return.

The staff is wonderful. Here is a hint: Book this hotel during low season.
I got a nice room at normally goes for $ 300+ for only $ 190/​night. Another advantage is that it’s quiet (for us introverts) during low season.
The hotel itself, like everyone said, is a bit dated. It’s like sitting in a time machine and going back to the 1990s. Even the TV is a bit old. But I don’t care :) Great view, great price, great staff, that’s all that matters to me.

Parking horrible unless you do valet…$ 18/​day.

Room is comfortable and clean. Bed is awesome and view is very nice.
Hotel and conference center is very clean and spacious.
Outside facilities are very nice and clean. Lots of shade where needed.

I stayed at this resort in August of 2015 and it was wonderful. I was traveling alone and felt safe the entire time. The staff was very courteous and professional, and the room was clean and comfortable. The beach was beautiful and I loved being able to ride a bike down it and relax and read beneath the umbrellas/​chairs for rent. There was a bright, full moon that night and there were plenty of places to sit and watch it over the ocean.
My only complaint was that the lifeguards who set up the rental umbrella/​chairs were complaining about people who didn’t tip. I thought that was unprofessional and rude to do within earshot of everyone. However, that didn’t ruin what was otherwise a great experience, and was just a minor annoyance. I will definitely return.

I stayed at this hotel on January 14, 2016. I would consider this off season, but this is my first visit to Hilton Head so I’m not sure what constitutes «season» on this island. I did not take advantage of any outdoor things such as pool or beach because it was cold and rainy.
This hotel had positives and negatives. I was surprised to see that this hotel only has a 3 star Unilocal review and that so many people have given it low ratings. I found it to be a solid four Unilocal stars hotel.
Positives:
— Front Desk staff, Valet staff, Bar and Restaurant staff are all fabulous and very engaging.
— The room was very nice with a beautiful beachfront view.
— The bathroom was huge. There were two closets and there were nice terry robes for your use.
— The bed was comfy and the pillows were good.
— I had dinner at the bar. The food was delicious and the bartended was very attentive.
— I had self parked my car but in the morning when I was leaving it was pouring. Rain was coming down in sheets. The valet offered to go get my car even though I had self parked. He did not want me to have to go out in that mess. It was very kind of him and even though I’m sure they are trained to do that and I’m sure he expected a tip, which he got, I though it was really the right thing to do to offer to get my car. That move alone would warrant 5 stars.
Negatives:
— Upon arrival, I did not need help with my bags. But this hotel is a resort and is accustomed to their guests having their bags taken to their rooms. Although I did not require these services, I felt like I did not have a choice and also felt I had to tip the guy who brought everything up to my room.
— Little things in the room — remote not working. Toilet paper is in a terrible position in relation to the toilet. Very strange. Shower head is a rain type shower head so you cannot make any adjustments to it and the flow is just to soft.
The Worst Negative:
— The worst negative of the whole stay was the gift shop/​Starbucks girl. If you stay at Marriotts you may know that all Marriotts have Starbucks as part of their food and beverage in some capacity. But with that comes the problem of hotel staff not knowing or not being properly trained on how to make Starbucks drinks. That brings about brand inconsistency. If you are used to a certain type of drink at your local Starbucks, do not count on it tasting the same from many Marriotts.
This girl had not been trained on how to make the drinks yet she was left on her own at the Starbucks counter. She did not know the Starbucks menu and was clueless on how to make what I wanted. Luckily for me I was watching her the whole time and I saw her pour the totally sour and lumpy milk into my drink!!! I pointed it out to her. Again, she was clueless. It was gross. I could see the lumps pouring in to my drink. If I had not been watching I would have been subjected to taking a taste of that horrible expired milk in my drink!
Once I pointed it out of course she started to make another drink but had to wait for someone to go get more milk. The milk they brought up had a sell by date of that day. I pointed it out to them and they said thats the only milk they had. It was ridiculous. I allowed them to make my drink with that milk. That was a mistake. The drink tasted horrible. I don’t even think it was the milk. I think it was because they do not have the proper training on how to make starbucks drinks. If Marriott wants to maintain it’s relationship with Starbucks, they should know that their guests expect to get the drink they expect. If they want to serve Starbucks drinks, they need to train their staff properly.
If I return to Hilton Head, I would stay at this hotel again. My stay was very pleasant. But I would avoid the Starbucks!

Amazing Beach Access with Dated Hotel Spaces and Rooms
Having stayed at a number of Marriotts, this one catches your attention as a bit different from the rest. The lobby was closed-​in and not the modern, open, and inviting space you expect of peer hotels in the chain. There were bins catching water from roof leaks. And the finishes were more a late-​1990s vintage.
Arriving in my room, it was more of the same. Nice and clean, but nothing stellar. Except the patio view of the beach. That was A-​Ma-​Zing! Walks and runs on the beach were similarly enjoyable.
Otherwise, noise from adjoining rooms was louder than normal. Wifi speed and connectivity was good. Pool looked nice enough, though it was too cold and rainy to use during my stay. And the gym was par.
The best aspect of the hotel was the staff, who were very pleasant from the time I entered to the time I left.

This sprawling oceanfront hotel feels tired and worn, with frayed carpet and an overpowering mildew smell that permeated my ground floor room. Still, it’s as close to the beach as a property can get on Hilton Head, and boasts a gorgeous pool and outdoor bar area with a view that’s second-​to-​none. The amenities of Palmetto Dunes are also a big plus, from world-​class golf courses to recreational trails that stretch for miles through the lowcountry pines.
The main restaurant, Conroy’s, serves up a tasty menu of chops and seafood, and the casual poolside restaurant is also worth a visit in good weather. The conference facilities are spacious and clean, and the bar has incredible ocean views and a decent selection of local brews, although none are available on tap. Free Wi-​Fi is also a plus.
All in all, this is a decent hotel in a great location, but could benefit greatly from a modest remodeling.

I’ve come here many times for the annual Hilton Head family vacation, however with this trip being a first since they finished the renovations, I thought it would be a good time to write a review. You can not beat the location of this resort due to it’s location right on the beach. You can be in the ocean to your room in 7 minutes if you really wanted to.
The room renovations have turned out amazing! The bed headboards have been overhauled to put up an amazing wooden panel that spans the wall. The colorful pop from the new artwork definitely complements the new carpet. The rooms even have a great little mini fridge for you to store your own drinks. As for picking a room, I’d say an ocean front or view room is worth the extra cash. See picture for the view from room 548. The balcony was HUGE and had plenty of room to enjoy the ocean breeze as well as the the island birds. The service here has always been a win in my book. The front desk is always cheery and everyone who passes you always has a smile and never hesitate to say good morning or afternoon. I can not attest to the restaurants except for Liquid (The poolside bar). The drinks were good as well as the nachos and hummus dish we ordered. The bartender was a sweetheart even offering to switch out a drink for my mom after she didn’t like the first one. (I ended up drinking it haha) Overall this trip was a major success! After 23 years of trips to Hilton Head and countless of them staying at the Marriott I do not hesitate to say that I will be back.

I’m Marriott Platinum and this is not to Marriott’s standards as a 4 star property. At $ 369 per night I was expecting A LOT more.
This property is very dated. The bathroom is impossible to move around in. You must close the bathroom door to open the shower door then reach in to turn the water on and get sprayed with cold water. Just what I want to wake up to! There has to be a better way…
Sure, it’s beach front. But, the Omni had a lower rate and is a newer and more extravagant property.

The ocean view is amazing and access to the beach is amazing. The fried green tomatoes, lobster roll & lobster mac & cheese are great. The room itself (and bath) is mediocre at best. The staff are a mixed bag of harried individuals trying their best to accommodate a conference crowd.

We’ve absolutely loved our stay here! The view was amazing, and we didn’t even have an «ocean view» room. Even the rooms on the sides are angled to where you can see the ocean. The room was massive, very clean and well kept, and definitely exceeded our expectations.
Every single employee we encountered was pleasant and helpful. Tanya at «Liquid» was fabulous. Speaking of Liquid, we could have sat out there at the bar for days. The view of the ocean from there was fantastic. The housekeeper, Maria, serviced our room one day and we were so impressed with the way it looked when we came back! The room was slightly a wreck before she got a hold of it. The gentleman that checked us in (wore glasses, probably night audit because we checked in around 3am) was super accommodating and friendly.
We thoroughly enjoyed hanging out at the pool and playing ping pong! They have several hot tubs, although we didn’t use them. Oh! I can’t forget the hammocks! They were so nice to lay on. We also indulged in the breakfast buffet one morning. We both wish we had bigger stomachs. Our server was great… I can’t quite recall her name… Probably from the food coma I put myself in. Overall, an overwhelmingly awesome experience at this hotel.
