Fresh, delicious seafood. Picked up some crab cakes, black grouper and shrimp to take home and prepare for dinner. Outstanding!

Always a good catch from Bill. In the summer it’s always a good party w/good tunes and cold beer! Just grabbed a few pounds of shrimp to enjoy in a few!

I stopped at Barnacle Bill’s to get four pounds of shrimp for a Low Country boil and wasn’t disappointed. It’s a friendly little place — Barnacle Bill likes to chew the fat with his customers — and the shrimp was about the best I’ve ever had.

THISISTHEPLACETOBUYFRESHSEAFOODIFYOURE A SERIOUSCOOK. Best tip, like all fish markets, ask what’s freshest and let those guide your menu instead of having something in your head first. Also, focus on locally caught items. Got swordfish and mussels.(Swordfish locally caught, mussels from further off and so not listed as «local» BUT the best mussels I’ve had yet.) Outstanding swordfish, obviously never frozen by the texture. Also got clams for a pasta dish. Later in week got some Black Grouper, Tuna, and(our overall fav) Red Snapper. Look forward to next visit. Cap’n Greg n crew ARE like folks out of a Jimmy Buffet song and that’s a real part of the experience.

After all the hype, I was more than disappointed. 2 employees and the owner stood and chewed the fat with one customer while 3 of us stood in line. I asked about blue crab and got some mumbling, no real answers. I asked for large shrimp and only jumbo was available. Seemed a little hinky — and overpriced. Went to another local seafood market in Beaufort a few days later — FAR better quality and pricing. Won’t bother with BB’s again.

This is what a roadside fish market should be. Simple, fresh fish, no frills and good people. We got a couple of pounds of mahi for tacos along with some wahoo and shrimp. Great conversation and recommendation on what to use for our dinner ideas. If you are staying on the island and want fresh fish, this is it.

Sorry… This place was a huge disappointment!!! 3 employees plus the owner waiting on one person at a time. When my turn was up, I had a few questions. First, I asked if the lump crab was local. The man quickly went to a cooler and removed a small container. To say the least I was hurried along and never had a chance to ask about fresh fish. I got back to the condo only to find out the«fresh lump blue crab«was imported, not fresh, and had an odd odor. It was packed tightly in the container and had become one clump. I don’t think I’ll return nor recommend this place to others!

We ALWAYS look forward to vacationing in HHI and getting fresh seafood from Barnacle Bills. It comes in daily and tends to run out close to 5pm. Coming from Atlanta, fresh seafood is hard to come by. We love their Grouper, Crabcakes, Scallops, and Stonecrabs. And their homemade Boil seasoning is topnotch. I recommend taking an evening off from the restaurants and cook some fresh, homemade seafood!

You might think it’s pricey but you’re paying for pure fresh local caught meat. No shells so more meat per pound and all fish are cut per purchase. And serve by friendly local staff. Highly recommended and going back tomorrow again!

Beware! Sponge Bob does not live here! Barnacle Bill does not have any real barnacles on his person. He does however have some of the best damn seafood on the island! It also doesn’t get fresher either. The man has about 15 – 20 different items to choose from and most of them are locally caught. Whoever said this place is pricey must be cray. I bought a pound of large shrimp and a pound of sushi grade tuna all for $ 30. The tuna was chopped right off the fish. Doesn’t get much fresher than that. Barnacle Bill is by far one of the nicest people I’ve ever met. The line was long but the service was impeccable. He told stories from his childhood, showed pictures of his grandkids, and even handed out free beers. Someone is winning at life.

Way too pricey. They had a good selection, but when I go to the beach I expect fresh seafood prices to be less than inland prices. I will go somewhere else next time I’m on Hilton Head Island, SC.

While on vacation Im HHI, SC I wanted to make a shrimp boil and have some crab legs too so through Unilocal and the locals was to to come here :) I got 2lb of fresh shrimp and 1 ½ lbs of long crab legs and they were delicious. I just used some old bay, corn, onion, and potatoes to flavor the water steamed the legs for 4 min and cooked the shrimp for 2 ½ too 3 min and it was perfect we had shrimp for the whole trip! For two of us. Oh and just hit a walmart or local place for cocktail sauce as well. I will most definitely be coming here again

Great little roadside seafood market. Owner is super friendly and the seafood was very good. I would call before driving out just to be sure the fish have arrived for the day.

Nice little outdoor fish market staffed by friendly guys. The selection changes daily as you’d expect and they sell out of items everyday — which I suppose is good.

Wish we had discovered this place earlier in our trip. Fresh seafood, great selection and just a charming experience overall.

I picked up some excellent shrimp here that we boiled for peeling and eating. I thought the prices were reasonable. ~$ 30 for 2 pounds of large shrimp. I made the mistake of buying Barnacle Bill’s shrimp & crab boil mix and cocktail sauce. No good at all. The extra horseradish cocktail sauce tasted like super sweet barbeque sauce with a barely noticeable hint of horseradish. Plan ahead and get Old Bay seasoning and some Bookbinders cocktail sauce at the grocery store.

My buddy and I went to Bill’s a couple of days in a row and got to know Cap’n Greg… super nice guy. We bought a beautiful piece of Grouper that was about $ 50 for 2lbs. A nice slab of fish. At first we thought, whoa, this is expensive, then we thought about going to a restaurant and what you would spend for 5 or 6 people… this was a smokin’ deal. We grilled it with some olive oil/garlic/parsley/salt/pepper and it was theeee best. Do yourself a favor, buy some fresh fish, some nice beers or wine, some nice veggies(corn in season) and go home and cook yourself a nice meal. You won’t find anything better than that on Hilton Head… and you’ll save a bunch of dough. The shrimp is also excellent. Nice choice of sizes… we went colossal, skewered them and put them on the grill. Fantastic. We didn’t find any other seafood for sale on Hilton Head that compared with what these guys had. Highly recommended… do yourself a favor… allow some hangtime with Bill or Greg, enjoy some live music and have a beer(sometimes free beer!!!), you’ll be glad you did. Our wives were jealous of our«local» experience and we had to promise that next time we would take them to Barnacle Bill’s for some local flavor.

Great selection of fresh local shrimp, fish, crab cakes, clam chowder, and even produce and live music! The day we went(Saturday) Bill was working the stand at his own relaxed pace, telling stories making everyone smile, relax and slow down to the island pace.
