I had to leave the island unexpectedly with only 2 days notice. I brought my surfboard in to the Hilo Surfboard company and they sold it for me. I had a check in my hands in less than 2 weeks! Awesome business and such a relief with all the stress of moving. Mahalo!

This is «the» Classic SURFSHOP. Mostly surfboards, the way a surf shop should be. Super knowledgeable about the island spots, gracious and happy to be serving surfers for years. Excellent selection of used boards & can get you any custom shapes too. Old Phil Edwards & Randy Rarrick shaped boards hung as collectors but anything is for sale. Try ‘em out! Aloha

If you are in the market for a Board or Surf equipment this is the place. Most surf shops you will find around Hilo are clothing stores that carry surf equipment as a secondary function. Hilo Surfboard company is what it is, a Surfboard company. The store is on the smaller side but they have done a good job maximizing their display space. I does not have a crowded feel to it at all yet their board and surf accessory selection is impressive. They do carry some apparel as well as MMA equipment but the store is definitely geared towards surfers. As far as their selection of boards, Its pretty good. Most of the boards they have on display are boards that have been put on consignment. They do have new boards as well and they carry a few paddleboards too. The selection is ever-changing and exciting as boards come and go randomly. The consignment prices are the best ive seen for both the buyer and seller. A fellow surfer consigned a 6.2 Al Merrick for $ 350 dollars and the price he had to pay was only 10%. Tha’ts pretty good for a seller by any standard. Ive seen boards in there for less than a hundred dollars and nearly brand new Al Merricks and Firewires for about half the price of what it would be new. All the boards come fully equipped and ready to be surfed. Hilo Surf comamany will only consign boards that are completely water tight and in fair condition. I have never seen a board in there with extensive damage even if it was repaired. Ive seen many boards with gashes and craters but they have all be sealed tight and professionally repaired. Hilo Surfboard Company is also the best place to get your board repaired. I have never had anything repaired by them personally but I did acquire a board that had been repaired there from a friend. The repairs were very good, smooth with no bump or rippling at all. The repair costs are not terrible either.

Is it possible? No reviews for this great store? I got my very first surfboard here in 2004. 8’0′ Spider for about $ 500. Anytime I needed anything, I’d come here. I regret not buying a shirt they sold there«Surfing sucks, don’t try it»(paraphrasing is not my strong suit). Anyway, super friendly and helpful people. I had my boards(I also have a 7’6″) repaired here several times. They did a great job repairing this 2″ x 3″ chunk I took out of my 8’0″. They also have a great selection of new and used, if your in the market. Oh and I got my very awesome board bag here too.
