Route 22 Honda Service

Route 22 Honda is the best dealership I have ever did business with!!! I did my research on the Honda Civic, I went to another dealership, and finally purchased at this dealership. They gave me the price I wanted and found the color I wanted. Excellent staff, Jorge and Hector were the best salesmen. Honest and knowledgeable. Mgr. Freddie was great too. I would highly recommend this dealership. Diane

You would have pay me in order for me or my wife to get either of our cars serviced here. I’m on my second Honda and she is on here first just for reference. Route 22 is extremely over priced for basic services, oil changes etc. The wait is always been extremely long. But the the thing that tipped the scales for me was the last time I took my car there and was told I had $ 3000 worth of maintenance that needed to be done. I knew this wasn’t the case so I took it to another mechanic who told me every thing on that list was a lie. That was 6 months ago and I have had no problems with car.
The whole game with this is place is try to get you to buy a new car. They tell you you have all of these problems with your current car in hopes that you will say OK, it may be cheaper to just lease or buy a new one. The sad thing about this is the most experienced manager, some guy who has been there 22 years he proudly told me, attempted to run this game on me.
Stay away from this place at all costs. I take my car to Hillside Car and Wash Lube right around the corner on North Broad in Hillside. They do every kind of car maintenance except tires for a much cheaper price. They are also a lot faster and won’t over charge you for anything.
I rarely write reviews. I wrote this one 6 months later because I get mad every time I think about this place. Every time I drive past them I think of the thousands of people they have ripped off. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE. This place is the pits.

3 hours for an oil change, even with an appointment made one week in advace. At the 45 minute mark after dropping off the car I get called into the office. I thought I was done. The guy was just checking me in. He blamed it on his broken printer but by the way he presented himself you could tell that was only the first of his problems. Wouldn’t trust this guy to manage pumping my gas. So disorganized when the guy told me I was finally all set I went to go pay and after that my car was nowhere to be seen. I asked him about it and he disappeared for a while and when we came back he said they were drying it and it’s coming right up. 10 minutes passed and I lost patience, walked around to the back to find my car sitting idle in a garage with noone to be seen but a service worker eating his lunch. I pointed franticly at my car and though he didn’t speak English he seemed to understand what a shit show this was. He stepped away from the vehicle, didn’t even ask me if it was mine, and let me drive away car still wet and sudsy.
Never again.

I posted a review previously about my experience. I was more than awed by the managers immediate response and apology. I’m updating my review because besides that employee the rest of my service went smoothly. My service advisor Terrance Persaud is always accommodating and helpful.

When you think of car service places, you don’t think of happy experiences, but twice now i’ve taken my Honda out of my way to go to Route 22 for tune ups and twice i have been very pleased.
No, it isn’t super-​fast but they actually look at the car, assess any issues, offer their customers options and do good work.
Pat, who helped me out last time, was not only a great conversationalist, but he kept me up to date with everything they were doing to my car, asked me for approval on all things after discussing why they were necessary (brake fluid change, tire alignment, etc.) and was an all-​around helpful person.
In the end, my car is driving way, way better, i do not feel «taken to the cleaners» and am glad i drove the extra miles to go to Rte 22 for service since they sure seemed to go the extra mile for me.

This entire issue pains me. Having had excellent experience at Route 22 Honda, I took my car in for a «normal» service. Again, they were prompt and friendly. The service department recommended various repairs, some of which they admitted weren’t needed but a «good idea», such as replace the thermostat, others of which I had already done, but they did not have my maintenance records. I knew what had been done and what should be done, so I just looked at the «real» repairs.
They stated that my left front axel boot was leaking and should be replaced, soon. Not having time to do it, I ended up at my local repair shop for to verify this repair. BTW, I would have given them the repair since I like to utilize small businesses when I can.
Here’s the problem — they couldn’t find a leak on either the front left or right axel boot. And for the price quoted, he could have replaced both. Since then, the car has been driven more than six month, 250 miles a week, plus a 2000 mile trip to the Midwest, with no problems.
I do not know if this was an honest mistake or something less forgivable. As a result, I am going to take my car to my local repair shop, since clearly they are trustworthy. I also felt obligated to update this recommendation given this experience.

I was the first appt. of the day and just came in for a oil change and a new key. I was the first on line when they opened and they took my car right away. Took almost 2 hours just for oil change and new key. They also gave me a list of stuff that needed to be done totaling over $ 900 and most of it I had done somewhere else and had told them this earlier.
The new key was $ 165, I saw one on Amazon for $ 35 and how to program on YouTube in 5 mins. I should have looked at YouTube first.
They are making Jiffy Lube look good. At least I am in/​out of there in 15 mins.

I came here yesterday afternoon and I really enjoyed my expirence they told me everything that was wrong with my car. This was my first time going here so i didn’t know what to expect but I was impressed and the employees are very friendly and the place is very clean so keep up the good work !

This is by far the worst service honda center I’ve ever been too. I went here because of all the good reviews on Unilocal and I was severely disappointed. I have a 2013 honda accord which I took it there for service due to a wheel making a noise while I was driving, the key fob getting locked in the trunk and for an oil change. They did the oil change which was great and even offered to wash my car which I declined cause I like to wash my own car, but did not work on anything else. They stated I had to make another appointment which I didn’t understand because it’s the reason I created the appointment in the first place. I can get my oil change anywhere, I wanted the maintenance to be performed. They stated they couldn’t replicate the problem which caused me to be furious cause after driving two blocks from the service center the problem occurred. I ended taking my car to Yonkers honda and the service guy told me there was a service bulletin for my problem and it was occurring with a lot of 9^th generation accords and it would be a simple fix. I got my car back in pristine condition thanks to YONKERS HONDA. Route 22 you guys failed me. I won’t be going there ever again.

I was taking my 99 Honda CRV to Route 22 Honda service for a recall on the ignition switch. The service advisor Paul was very professional explaining that it was initially mix up with the part wasn’t available but solved it right away. He even arrange someone have me sent home to N. Bergen that day-​a trek. Their tech guy Figgy was very knowledgeable about CR V’s. He walked me thru everything I needed for my car. but given their prices I thought I’d give it a pass due to age of my car. but what really impressed me was the way I was treated. Whether I was a 14 year old car owner or a brand new car owner I was treated with respect and was not «pushy» on something I didn’t want. If I ever would consider a brand new Honda, Route 22, would be on my list. Also they fix the ignition switch which prevented the car from cutting out and that solve the problem I’m very happy. Whattt a country!

Arrived for car repair. Customer service is only as good as the personnel that helps you. Mixed feeling when I arrived. Modern facility. Waited 2 and half hours for something to be changed. Free car wash is always good. Free coffee, water, tea.

Organized and professional. Great work. The staff is very courteous.

So I (unfortunately) have been to this body shop through my insurance 3 times in the past couple of years and I have to say, they’ve made it a really pleasant experience (all things considered). They stay in touch with you throughout the repairs, are super accommodating and friendly. It’s much better and different than the dealership, please note that.

Really like this Honda Service place. They’re very nice. They keep you update on your car service. They have a really nice waiting room. They offer free brownies, muffins, coffee, and tea in the waiting room; which is awesome. I had to wait three hours. Hot cocoa and brownies kept me awake during my appointment.

We bought our Honda Odyssey at Route 22 back in 2003 and have had it serviced there ever since. We’ve been especially impressed at the professionalism of the service staff — Paul and Rich have attended to all our needs — and they always go out of their way to show you exactly any maintenance issues the car may have and the cost of repair. We’ve found the pricing competitive and their attention to detail inspires confidence. In short, after 8 ½ years, our Odyssey is approaching 150,000 miles and still going strong thanks to the attentive service of Route 22.

This dealership struck me as very organized, professional and courteous. I had service on my 2002 Odyssey. They were busy, so it took a couple hours of waiting to get a diagnosis. Once, diagnosed, they were very honest in the assessment of the MUST fix and SHOULD fix, and didn’t pressure me either way. They even offered a free rental car for the day, probably because the cost of my repair was significant.
In any case, I thought the price was good, the work was done very well. Oh, and they have free snacks and coffee, and free wireless Internet in the waiting room.

Great service center here! Always honest and customer service is near impeccable, free wi-​fi, several outlets, snacks, coffee, and water, 3 small cable TVs and chairs comfortable enough to take a light nap… they mail you coupons once you are on their mailing list! The 15% I saved off my tune up and brake service allowed me to go shopping for a birthday dress and a new pair of shoes!!!

I was pretty impressed with this Honda dealer’s service center. Had keys made for the car, and it was about half the price of other dealers in the NY metro area. Basic service done included oil change and brake replacement. Prices were again a little cheaper than other Honda dealers. Service guys were friendly, and of course try to add on extra non-​essential services like ignition cleaning or air filter replacement. Just say no (disclaimer: I am not a car expert or a doctor. Use your own judgement). Waiting room was relatively clean, had plug in internet connection, coffee and some light pastries and snacks. A nice little touch.
