This is a wonderful shop. My wife and I recently moved here from FL and were having a problem finding furniture and other home furnishings. We had searched the area and not found anything that we liked. Once we found Fetch our search was over! My wife has come home with not only great things, but the women who own the shop have come up with amazing ideas of how to put our new home together, and the prices are more than fair.

Fetch is an awesome store, but it is so much more! Karan is helping me redecorate an old farmhouse, and knows how to do it both stylishly and thriftily. I tend to stay away from decorators because of the expense, which they often hide, but Karan is very up front about pricing, and I will save far more than I spend for her services… not just in my time saved running around trying to find things I need, but in real dollars too! She will find you what you need, and at an awesome price. Unlike many decorators who are trying to get you to buy expensive stuff that you don’t need, Karan watches out for your money as if it were her own. For example, would you ever have thought of slip-covering an old sofa with painters’ dropcloth? Karan is always suggesting LESS expensive alternatives than what I think up on my own(and I have been buying used and consignment furniture for decades!) She and her partner Donna are always scouring the countryside for new treasures, and she can even get you the best price from other antique/consignment dealers and auctioneers in the area. Whatever you can think of, Karan will help you find what you need. I was looking for an old-time adult potty chair to put in an upstairs bedroom without a bathroom, and voila, within minutes, she had found one. Also an armoire that can be taken up a steep, narrow, twisting flight of stairs… someone to appraise a potentially valuable piece of furniture that I am ready to get rid of. I am embarrassed to admit that I was a little slow to pick up on the meaning of the business name«Fetch.» But it means that whatever your heart desires, Karan and her team will do their best to fetch it for ya’. There’s even a wonder dog Chessie, often at the store, to welcome you and make you feel at home. A visit to the Daniel Boone Village in Hillsborough is very worth your while. Right off of I 85 and I40, you will find a trove of well-priced antiques and collectibles all conveniently located together in an old-timey shopping center that housed the Daniel Boone skating rink in the 70s when I was in college. There’s lots more to discover in Hillsborough as well. Down the road a piece is a little downtown, anchored by the Wooden Nickel pub where John Edwards used to hang out when he was hiding from the press(or from Elizabeth.) There’s another antique/collectible store on Churton Street, as well as galleries of work from local and regional artists. Don’t miss the Purple Crow bookstore where books by local authors Lee Smith, Michael Mallone, Allan Gurganus, Frances Maye, and many others are sold. Custom design jewelry and a chocolate shop(no kidding) as well as other fine dining comprise downtown. Dual Supply is an original hardware store, and across the street you can get a Cup of Joe as well as advice on hunting, fishing, and just what’s biting. While the womenfolk shop, men will be entertained by nearby Occoneechee Race Track, one of the original Nascar dirt tracks shut down in the ‘60s by the Bible thumpers who thought an expansion would bring in the wrong type of folks. Now its a lovely place to walk along the banks of the Eno River, and see the old grandstand still standing. Across the street from the track, Vietri Italian dinnerware has an outlet store for still more shopping fun. Hillsborough and Fetch are secret troves of hidden treasure, just waiting for you to come by and mine them to your heart’s delight. One of the best is Karan Sjoberg and the dream team she has assembled to help you make your home dreams come to life! Come make a day of it here in Hillsborough. I’ve only touched the highlights, there is much more here waiting for your discovery. by Carol Staton –
