Description

Specialties

Our Hillsboro theater & bistro is a place to enjoy live theater, movies, interesting wine, tasty cocktails, & delicious Italian food. The Venetian includes a theater showing live plays and concerts, a movie theater where you can bring your own drinks & popcorn, a casual yet elegant bar & lounge, and bistro restaurant serving American & Italian cuisine.

The ambiance at The Venetian is unlike any other because we offer many different forms of entertainment, from the Portland Chamber Orchestra to «Rebel Without A Cause.» You can join us to meet friends, have a business meeting or host a special event. We love hosting private parties including corporate events, receptions, weddings, & rehearsal dinners.

Established in 2008.

Until recently, the Venetian property was composed of two separate buildings. The theater portion (not including the auditorium) was originally built in 1888 to house the First National Bank of Hillsboro. Phelps purchased the old bank building and opened the 200 seat Grand Theater there the same year. In 1916, 300 more seats were added and the Grand became the Liberty.

A fire closed the Liberty in 1925. After the subsequent remodel and addition of the auditorium, it was reopened as the Venetian. The Venetian burned due to a faulty curtain motor in 1956, and the newly refurbished Town theater opened in 1957.

Phelps sold the Town to Tom Moyer Luxury Theaters in 1978. Films continued to

Some people don’t believe us when we tell them that The Venetian is a mom & pop shop run by my partner and me. After our major renovation, people think we are part of a large corporation, but we are proud to maintain our local flavor and familiar, personalized customer service.

We bring the best of both worlds together, offering world-class entertainment and casual, fun dining. We are proud to be part of the Hillsboro community and to provide a place for our guests to relax and enjoy their friends and acquaintances.
