We are a general dental office with an emphasis on implants, cosmetics and preventative dentistry. We see all patients ranging from ages 3 to 103. Dr. Dutro, Dr. Phillipe and our team offer a warm and caring environment. We are here to listen to and understand your dental needs while providing you with excellent dental care.

History

Established in 1991.

Dr. Dutro took over this well established Hillsboro dental practice in 1991. We are excited to have added Dr. Phillipe to our team in November of 2015!

Dr. Mark Phillipe is a native of Hillsboro, and is proud to be serving the community in which he was born and raised. After graduating from Hillsboro High School in 2004, he earned his Bachelors degree in Biological Sciences in 2008, completing the Honors Program at University of the Pacific in Stockton, CA. He then moved to San Francisco to attend University of the Pacific, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry, earning his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 2011.

Upon graduation, Dr. Phillipe served as a Captain in the US Army for 4 years, providing dental care for our Soldiers at Fort Carson, Colorado. With the completion of his military commitment in 2015, he is excited to be back in the Pacific NW with the opportunity to join Dr. Dutro’s team.

Dr. Dutro grew up in Spokane, Washington. He attended Walla Walla University, where he earned his Bachelor Degree. He moved to Oregon in 1986 to attend Oregon Health Science University where he received his Degree in Doctor of Dental Medicine. Dr. Dutro is a member of The Oregon Dental Association, American Dental Association, American Academy of Implant Dentistry, and the International Team for Implantology. He is a member of the Hillsboro Chamber of Commerce and the Hillsboro Rotary club. Dr. Dutro enjoys keeping updated on the latest dental and implant technology. He is an active participant and has spent hundreds of hours in dental implant study clubs.

After 24 years of private practice, it’s important to Dr. Dutro to create and maintain an environment that’s family friendly for all ages, to establish long term relationships in the community, and to lead a team that’s professional, caring and that goes the extra mile to make his patients feel comfort

Let me first off by saying it has been over 5 years since I’ve gone to the dentist. So I decided I needed to go before I lose my teeth. I checked Unilocal reviews and I was struggling between Dr Dutro and another office. Let’s just say I’m glad I chose Dr Dutro. The office is clean and the people are very kind. I let them know I was nervous and they had alot of patience with me. Dr. Dutro approached me as a person not just another client. He told me his concerns and the staff was great. I found myself a regular dentist who knows what he’s doing. As a bonus he let me know my teeth were quite unique. That previous dentists could care less. So if you want a dentist who you can talk to and work with you this is a great choice.

I came here because of the Unilocal reviews, and they did not disappoint. The staff are all friendly, professional and very knowledgeable. Mark and Alyssa make a great team. After I left they gave me a call at the end of the day to check in and it really makes me feel like they care about what they’re doing. I’m so glad I came here. My teeth are better than ever!

Dr. Dutro and his team are absolutely amazing. An accident left me needing extensive dental work on my front teeth, and the dentist who originally took on the work to repair my smile did the exact opposite; I left that office in pain and with different colored front teeth! Thanks to Dr. Dutro and his team my teeth are nearly identical to what they looked like before my accident and the pain is gone. I owe so much thanks to them for the support they provided through all the procedures that I needed, and for taking all the time necessary to make my smile one that I am excited to show. They truly go above and beyond and when you walk into the office you feel welcomed and so incredibly cared about.

I currently have Willamette dental and it’s been a very frustrating experience. I had a tooth pulled and going through the process of getting an implant and went to Dr. Dutro for a second opinion. He was very honest and helpful and gave me great information. I plan to change my insurance plan at the end of the year so I can utilize his services in the future.

Dr. Dutro has been my dentist for 18 years. I have nothing but good things to say:
1) Not a single issue with his work after all of this time.
2) My mother in law (from out of town) was suffering after some dental work from her dentist. Dr. Dutro was able to take a look and immediately noticed the poor technique used by the other dentist. He then made the proper adjustments, and my mother in law still says nice comments even though it has been a few years.
3) Many of the staff members have been there after all of this time. They have genuine affection for him (some of it light hearted such as posting his high school picture in the paper for his 40th birthday a while back). The staff is also great! They remember my name even when I run into them in random places.
4) Although I don’t know him personally, he sure seems to be a class act. One of his former hygienists suffered a very sad tragedy, and he took the time and expense to send her patients a postcard describing what happened (so she wouldn’t have to relive the tragedy with every patient visit).
What else can I say? He’s a pro, and he’s nice! What more can you ask from your dentist?

My long-​time dentist retired. A neighbor recommended Dr. Dutro.
Funny how you just settle when you don’t pay attention. Change is a good thing, and boy, did I come out of the dark ages of medicine and step into the present evolution. A real good thing!
No more toxic amalgamated fillings or fuzzy black and gray X-​rays.
No more hygienists who talk more than they attend to your teeth, and ask questions they expect you to answer with your mouth full of instruments and suction tubes.
Dr. Dutro is a compassionate dentist who has a good chair-​side manor, and uses the latest technology to care for your teeth. He is good at explanations and presenting solutions and/​or alternatives when work needs to be done.
His staff is pleasant, knowledgable and considerate.
His office is comfortable, clean, and as inviting as an office of its kind can be ;-)
Your teeth are something really special. I trust Dr. Dutro to help me take care of mine.

Initially I discovered this dentist from Portland Monthly magazine; I’m not exactly sure what the criteria is based on to qualify as the Best Dentists of Portland-​but I definitely agree. The staff was friendly and helpful. and it is obvious that Dr. Dutro knows a lot about teeth. They make decisions for the best interest of the patient– doing procedures if it is necessary This is probably the best dentist I have been to in my life, I can’t recommend this office enough.
