Best seafood/authentic Mexican food in Oregon! While visiting Portland here from Salt Lake City, we got lost trying to find a restaurant and ended up in this little hole in the wall. It was the best detour we ever made. I would definitely drive the distance for this place. It will be a must go to eatery when we’re down in Portland in the future!

I always get their carne asada platter; their skirt steak is grilled perfectly and the helpings are plentiful. They make it quickly after you order it, and I haven’t been disappointed once.

This place has GREAT Seafood — especially Mexican seafood cocktails! They have a HUGE seafood platter(like a crab boil) enough to feed 4 — trying that next time!

Decided to try it out. Ordered the shrimp cocktail and wife ordered the carne asada plate. I was very disappointed what I ordered. They used freezing cold tap water mixed with some spicy/peppered flavor. Who the hell does that? Wheres the shrimp broth flavor!?? No cilantro or any tomato(ketchup) flavor? Worst cocktail shrimp Ive ever tasted. Wife carne asada wasnt fully cooked. Was very chewy and her tortillas were falling apart like it was microwaved. Ill never come back. Another thing. why the hell name the place El Chino? Its was quite insulting for my wife as shes Asian. Might as well call it «The Beaner Taqueria». Thumbs down.

It’s ok, I find the Gordita & Sopas greasy The meat didn’t have much flavor. I’ve tried it 3 different times prior to this review. I really really want to like/love it because it’s a local family owned business. With that being said, I will give it another try. :/ Sidenote: My kids love it…

This place is so so sooooo amazing! I had shrimp cocktail and carne asada which were HUGE and incredibly good. Prices are super low. Food preparation was lightning fast. Pupusas are gigantic. This place cannot be beat. I want to live here.

Authentic. This place is legitimate. Based on their green salsa alone I knew this was going to be a great restaurant. Most flavorful salsa I’ve ever had. Good meat in the burrito and tasty pupusas. Restaurant had a steady stream of customers

Great veggie burrito, chips were good, and lots of choices at the salad bar. That and soda with refills for $ 7.25 for lunch– good deal. Highly recommended if you’re in the area.

I have heard from a person I know that the food wasn’t that good, decided to try it my self and boy were they wrong! El Chino has become my favorite place right now to get Mexican food and the salsa bar is on point!

Authentic, amazing food. The smoky red hot sauce was amazing on my carnitas tacos. My husband and I both ate and he had a beverage and our tab was $ 11! If you don’t want a authentic experience, this place isn’t for you… all the rest, come and enjoy amazing food!
