I was very happy with the service here. Very friendly people. My fries were perfect. Beautifully match stick crispy. I also had the BLT. My only complaint was that the bread was softly toasted. Other than that no complaints. There are weekly specials that include chicken pot pie on thursday. Next I drive out this way I’m coming on a Thursday, because I was sad that I could not order the chicken pot pie.

— LUNCH — Meatloaf. Mashed potatoes with brown gravy. Green beans. Corn bread. Peach cobbler. Sweet tea. $ 6.14. The Wednesday lunch special is either meatloaf or country style steak. I LOVE meatloaf, both the singer and the dish. The choices for sides *vegetables* are numerous: mashed potatoes with brown gravy, fried okra, crowder peas, green beans, yada, yada, yada. The bread choice is either biscuit or cornbread. Dessert is included in the meal. The choices are brownies, some type of festive cake, and peach cobbler. My waitress said that I wanted sweet tea, so I went with her choice. LOL MEATLOAF. 4⁄5. If I didn’t know better, I would swear that I made this meatloaf. I think that someone stole my recipe, because they used all of my ingredients, including chopped onions and green bell peppers — topped off with the mandatory tomato paste crust on top. Their meatloaf was surprisingly good and well seasoned. I will order this again.(It would make one heckuva good meatloaf sandwich with mayo.) MASHEDPOTATOESWITHGRAVY. 2.5÷5. Instant potatoes. Frye Daddy’s serves their mashed potatoes with a good brown gravy, so I ate them and I enjoyed them. GREENBEANS. 3⁄5. Canned green beans, with very little seasoning, but properly cooked. Purists may be offended by the lack of ham, etc., but I found nothing to complain about. CORNBREAD. 2⁄5. A microwaved sweet corn muffin served nuclear hot with packets of butter on the side. I was hoping for a big slice of crunchy corn bread, but they don’t serve that here, and that’s a shame. PEACHCOBBLER. 4⁄5. Pretty darned good. There was a crusty brown sugar topping, and the peaches were fresh. This dish was better than I was expecting, and I liked it.(A scoop of vanilla ice cream would have been wonderful.) SWEETTEA. 4.5÷5. Really good sweet tea, that was neither too sweet nor too weak. It was served in a tall glass and refilled once. It doesn’t get much better. SERVICE? 4⁄5. This is a local diner, where the entire community apparently eats here on a daily basis. I’ll bet that I was the only person in the restaurant that the owners/waitresses didn’t know on a first name basis. The restaurant was full at lunchtime, and when I left there were people scouting for parking spots in their tiny parking lot. PRICE? 4⁄5. My meal was $ 6.14, not including tip. SANITATIONRATING? 4.5÷5. Currently 97.5%. SUMMARY If you live in a gated community, shop in boutiques, look forward to spa day, or drive an S class Mercedes or Bentley… you probably won’t like this diner very much. As I said in the very beginning, Frye Daddy’s is the same as 100,000 other small diners in NC and America. They do a kickass breakfast. They know everyone’s name. They give many customers hugs in greeting. They discuss local gossip. It is basically a «family» reunion of sorts each and every day. I like this type of diner. It reminds me of things past and simpler times. Except for the draft beer and Norm, Cheers has nothing on this place.

This place may look old but it is spotlessly clean and the service is wonderful and VERY fast. Food is really good. However, the thing that REALLY stands out about this place is the prices. I got the breakfast special of 2 sausage patties, bacon, 3 eggs, 2 pancakes, a double serving of hash browns, and toast for $ 6! SIXDOLLARS!!! That’s crazy awesome! Also, I am very picky about my hash browns. I like them extremely crispy and every other place I’ve gone I have to say that I want them very very very very very very very very crispy and they still come out soft. This place is the only place That has done it perfect. I even ate most of it like chips! Dad had some good country ham, so if you like country ham you might want to stop here.

The best place in Burke County for the price. I can eat here everyday and my wife for under a hundred bucks. They have a great staff and a great friendly cook. Just good down home cooking. And the cat and the customers are always friendly and talkative. If you’re friendly and not old hag you would love this place.
