My fiancé has been taking his cars here for 12 years. He had nothing but good things to say. Moreover he said that this mechanic is honest. He took my volvo there and they fixed for under $ 500 while other places gave me estimates in the 1900 – 2200 range.

It was meant to be that I overheard someone rave about the service, honesty, and excellent repair work at J.J. Service in Highwood, Il. At the time I was driving a 16 year old car. I knew it wasn’t long until I would be getting a new car. The mechanics did an evaluation and worked on ONLY the needed repairs to keep by beloved old car running until I got a new one. The cost for parts and service made my first experience a very pleasant one. I’m hoping my new car will not need service for a while but when the time comes J.J. Service will be the only place that will work on my car.

Finding myself moving from Highwood to Galena in less than a month (December 2013), I made good on my promise and brought my 1970 Cutlass to Jeff to have brakes looked over and the carb tuned up. Both were done. He also gave the car a once-​over, since he knew I was driving across the state in winter, and found the radiator needed replacing. Took a while to do the work, but this is an old car. Parts are hard to find. I’ll tell you this: the other day I started up a 44-​year old car when it was 5 degrees out, and it was warmed up and ready to drive in 2 minutes. That’s a carb tune up, son. I no longer live in Highwood. But if you do, Jeff’s a good mechanic. Straight shooter. And he does the job right.

JJ’s is by far as good as it gets. We have been coming to him for years and he is always overly accommodating, beyond fair and lightening fast. I never fail to be impressed with the level of service and quality of work that I receive here and I recommend him to everyone I talk to who is in need of an OUTSTANDING mechanic. I have been burned many times by many mechanics and recognize the diamond in the rough that I have found in JJ’s auto repair. 5 stars is not enough.

JJ is the most honest mechanic and businessman I ever met. For many years, he serviced all of our cars — a mix of major and minor repairs, and I never doubted his recommendations. On more than one occasion, he made a quick repair and had me on my way (no charge). His reputation is built by word of mouth in the community. Did you notice that he doesn’t even have a sign in the front of the building!

Dropped my 2006 Impala off on a Monday night to get the rear brakes done, JJs called me at 9 the next morning to inform me that in addition my front Calipers needed to be readjusted which is why I was having shaking in my brake pedal… something the repair shop I had my front brakes done at a year ago neglected to tell me. My car was ready at 2 that afternoon and all for what I felt was a very fair price.
Overall my experience was that J J Auto Service is a shop that is honest, fast, and very fairly priced. I have no doubt I’ll have my car back there if it needs any other service.

This is a fine auto garage, whose owner is one of the nicest mechanics I’ve ever met. I use to deliver auto parts here and he is a straight up guy who runs a fine shop. Go here for your foreign and domestic auto repairs. Honest, no rip offs.
