Michaels

The selection is lacking in certain areas. Today I went in and they had tons of Christmas stuff up which took over most of the store but go to the yarn section and I couldn’t even find an orange and yellow for a fall hat. This store is definitely not my favorite id rather go to another one that has more options or just order my yarn through some place else.

Framing department = A+ Highly recommend, don’t bother going anywhere else.
I have an extensive 3d and design background and relied on the staff’s artistic feedback immensely! Staff was skilled, knowledgeable, patient, provided insight to all of their products and services for my needs.
I had never framed anything before and didn’t realize how expensive framing can actually be. They found every coupon and discount possible and automatically applied that to my order. Since my knowledge of framing was very limited, the discounted price for custom work was still more then double my allotted budget.
They were still able to find me a solution that was under my budget without having to sacrifice my expectations for framing my piece (which came in at 10% of what the original cost would have been before any discounts were applied).
Then they were even able to finish my piece the very same night within hours of coming in after work.
Very happy with the final product, my budget and the quality of service!
ps — their prices even before any discounts were applied are still less expensive then any other framing place you’ll find. Michaels always has coupons and discounts for everything in the store.

In general, I like Michael’s Arts & Crafts stores, but this particular one in Highlands Ranch always drives me nuts. They are always understaffed, and the staff they have are generally uninformed (the managers I’ve dealt with were great, though). This store is usually messy and dirty. And I’ve had so many checkout snafu’s, it’s not even funny. Usually the case is that the item is one price on the shelf, but when you check out, it rings up as full priced. Then the uninformed staffer takes 20 minutes trying to figure out how to make it work in her register. Highly irritating. I usually try to shop at a different Michael’s when possible.

This place always seems to be understaffed, because no matter what day or time I go in, the lines at the cash registers take forever.
Anyways, bf and I had 3 pics custom framed here, one which was 3 feet by 5 feet. (Thank goodness for their 60% off sale, because that one was NOT cheap!)
The ladies at the framing counter were very helpful and had good ideas. We were thrilled with our framed and matted pictures — will definitely recommend Michael’s for custom framing over the other, much pricier options.

There is always a coupon in the sunday paper. Be sure to look in their cheap bins for some great deals.
