Wow stellar job grooming and cleaning my dogs. But on top of that AWESOME CUSTOMER SERVICE. Discovered i was feeding the last of my dog food to my 3 dogs tis morning at 430am. I knew i couldn’t make it to the Hydrant before they closed today. So i called them up on my break at work today. Beth the owner answered and i told her my situation. She offered to stay and wait for me. I didn’t want her to do that because of my mistake. She knew i lived close because i bring my dogs. When she has people who don’t show for their appointments. Came home to my dog food on my front porch. WOW NOW THATS GOIN THE EXTRA STEP!!! Something you will never get from your big box pet stores!!! Thanks again BETH

Five stars here. Finally found a pet groomer that did our golden the way they are supposed to look. Our nine year old golden retriever will be back.

Fantastic staff, clean store and great prices! They had her all done in less than an hour. They took great care of my puppy and made her look gorgeous! Highly recommend to all!

These guys know what they’re doing. Professional, friendly and competent. On top of it, they help out local rescues, so it feels so good to support them. They belong in downtown Chicago, but Highland, Indiana got lucky!!!

The Hydrant does such a stellar job every time we take our poodle that I will never make the mistake of not bringing my dog here due to scheduling. The dog is excellently groomed, nails are clipped, ears cleaned, teeth brushed, glands expelled– all for a fair rate, given the quality of the service and quick turnaround time. My dog, who will not voluntarily walk into Munster Animal Hospital nor the rear section of Petco or Petsmart will enter this store. That speaks volumes to me.
This place should be your first choice. In a pinch, Petsmart or Petco will work if you provide proof of vaccinations, but don’t go to Munster Animal Hospital unless you want to get upsold with their vet fees and vaccinations, even if you provide full medical history from another vet.

I found the Hydrant on Unilocal while on vacation with my 2 dogs. I wanted to get them groomed and needed some extra food for our extended trip. This place is awesome! Mindy is so wonderful and really took great care of my hyper silky terrier Elvis who suffers from separation anxiety. He was actually calm when I picked him up and looked great. Another plus is I did not have to leave my dogs all day like the other shops. We dropped them off and went to lunch and shopping and after a few hours they were both done. The retail store is stocked with high quality dog food and treats. Mindy & her staff took the time to talk with me about what I am feeding my dogs and recommended some new treats to try for my picky terrier mix, who can only have low fat food and treats. Sierra loved the Dr. Becker treats which are low in fat, and so did Elvis. The were not just trying «to make a sale» but really cared about my dogs health. I love this place and wish I had one by my house.

I created a Unilocal account just to review about this place, after going through 3 different groomers for my dog Gizmo, being so disappointed after my dog was treated poorly and I was unhappy with the service, I looked on Unilocal,saw a good review about the. Hydrant and thought I would try it. OMG! I can’t tell you how happy I am with this place… the owner Mindy was so amazing. First of all I was late because I got lost, she took Gizmo anyway. didn’t have him all day. only 2 ½ hours. They bathed him twice, and did such a good job on his haircut, also have us such valuable nutritional info for his eating habits, he smelled so good! She didn’t at all try to promote the food she sold there just to get you to buy hers, she gave me advice about all kinds of foods, when i inquired about the food there, she gave me free samples to take home to see if he liked it first, instead of buying the dog food and having him hate it and money wasted. she gave Gizmo a sample treat of Dr. Becker’s bites… and by the time we were in the car and I gave him the treat, I had to walk right back in there and buy a bag. he LOVED them and they are so healthy, I recommend you just stopping in to by the treats for your dog or cat even if your animal isnt getting groomed, they are wonderful, they even offer doggie massages for you animal, and all this for $ 40.00…come on, where on earth could you get priceless wonderful care for your furry baby for that price. I will never go to another place. I hope they stay in buisness for along time!!! I recommend this place if you love your animal! you won’t be disappointed. Mindy is extremely knowledgeable about animals, she even went to collage for it and knows canine CPR,

I have never written a review, but after my experience with The Hydrant, I decided I really wanted others to benefit.
I took my dog here last week after a bad experience with her last grooming appointment at a different groomer. This place is great! I was a little nervous leaving her given the problems I had in the past, but Mindy was extremely patient with me and addressed all my questions and concerns. She is extremely knowledgeable.
My dog looked great when I picked her up! I have even received a thank you note from The Hydrant, along with a $ 5 off coupon. I think their attention to detail is incredible!
