Hampton In-Highland

Just wanted to inform any family or individual that is looking for a place to stay in Highland, IN area to not consider these apartments. The first day we started moving in our stuff there were people moving out who informed us that we made the wrong choice moving into these apartments. They said that these apartments would not give you your deposit back no matter how clean your apartment is during the checkout process. They said that they are money hungry and greedy and will do whatever it takes so they can keep your money. I did not take them seriously and now I see why that impetuous comment was made. This business is very shady and I work in business and know how a business is supposed to be ran. During our checkout they said that we were signed up for a 12 month lease when we clearly stated to them it was for 6 months. We gave them a notice and ended up still having to pay the fee when one of their staff screwed up and put us down for the wrong lease term! We cleaned that place like no other and they still charged us for a carpet cleaning fee which was optional in the lease. They charged it anyways and did not tell us about it. They hit us with $ 1300 in miscellaneous charges that are not stated in the lease and I’m thinking about getting a lawyer to refute these charges. Our security deposit was, forcefully forfeited. I had my vehicle damaged twice on their property there is no sense of security for your vehicle, which should make anyone apprehensive about staying there. Basically if you move into this place they will suck up all you have. Me and my roommates never had a complaint and paid our rent on time every month and we still got the short end of the stick. If you move into these apartments your fate is already determined and that’s the fate that you’re going to get shaded out of your hard earned money!!!

The staff is great, but they charge way too much in rent. For what we pay in rent, we should be living in luxury. I can’t wait until our lease is up. I really don’t like this apartment. The counter tops, kitchen and bathrooms are very outdated. The need to really up grade their gym too.

I went to pay my rent today and the person totally ignored me, and kept talking on the phone! Now this wouldn’t be a problem if it wasn’t a personal call! He put his finger up to signal hold on. He then starts talking about restraining orders and such. This is my second negative interaction with him. I highly recommend they speak to him because he has horrible customer service skills. Luckily the young lady working in the back was kind and friendly and took my payment.

I lived in the Hamptons for a year in fact I just moved out in early July. I waited to write my review till everything was settled.
The Good:
I must say they’re probably the most attentive apt. staff ive ever dealt with. Always very friendly and anytime I had an issue with the apartment and called about it, it was fixed within the hour.
I lived in the Lambeth East building in apt. 20 a one bedroom apt. in the renovated building. The apartment was by far the best for that area and I looked for weeks, nothing even came close. The kitchen has stainless steel appliances and granite countertops both in the kitchen and the bathroom. I was on the third floor so I had a great view of the courtyard balcony. Another great thing about the building was that the doorbell was connected to your phone so when someone rang the doorbell it would actually call your phone and you could talk to them from your phone and also let them in that way. It was also a no pet or smoking building. One other thing I should add is everything was electric, the only thing you paid for was that and they paid the rest.
The Bad:
Its Expensive, I paid $ 973 a month with a $ 500 Deposit, and that was my promo rate, my rent was actually set to go up another $ 100 the second year. Another bad thing was that they keep your security deposit. When you go in to sign the lease they tell you they’re gonna charge you a 325 $ carpet cleaning fee and 175 $ to paint; I could have it backwards but you get the point. Other then that make sure you clean the house before you leave! make sure theres no garbage anywhere and everything is clean! If you don’t they will charge you a lot to clean it. (I know because my friend let his apt. a mess and they charged him a lot of extra money for it!) Make sure you do a walkthrough with them upon exiting to make sure that doesn’t happen to you! Just call a week before you move and tell them you wanna do a walkthrough.
Also, the apt. ‘gym’ if you wanna call it that is very out dated and pretty much worthless unless you just wanna get on the treadmill. The pool is actually pretty nice and there it is pretty big and better then most apt. pools. Although I never went in it, but from what I saw in the club house it was decent. The club house is terrible if you’re into hanging out there… and their ‘resident office’ has to computers with internet and a printer.

Great leasing agent… UNTIL they decide to double charges on your lease agreement and add mandatory fees for painting and carpet cleaning. Painting charges were NOT included in my lease so we will see how this ends up…
