Pala Nails and Spa

I wish I could give this place 0 stars.
I stopped in this morning at 9, as they are close by to where I work and the other salons don’t open until 10. I walked in and asked to get a no chip… although there were only 2 customers in the salon, the employee just said no. They didn’t offer me a time frame for waiting just said no, and that if I wanted too, I could come back later,
Ridiculous. I’ve never been treated like that. So rude.

I have been going to Pala Nails for years! I love the service, the cleanliness, the choice of colors, the friendly staff! I’ve had several different technicians over the years, as they come and go, but have rarely been disappointed. Once I find one I like, I stick with that person. I feel pampered each week! Plus, they play movies, and I really enjoy relaxing and taking this time for myself. I love this place!!!

I needed a fast polish change and they were not helpful at all. They said that they didn’t have anyone to help me but there was a lady who was free. I was very disappointed! I want to another nail salon and they were very nice and accommodating and even helped me when I by mistake messed up one of my nails she helped me right away and was very nice

This salon is terrific for a manicure or pedicure. Although they are always busy they always have availability. They’re appreciative of the business and care about their customer

This place has HORRIFIC customer service. I went to take my mom for a pedicure (she is handicapped) and they literally, in front of everyone said, «we can’t do her sorry.» And literally opened the door and said bye. I could not believe it. Never in my life have I been so outraged and embarrassed. Just awful. I went to pretty nails in Northbrook instead. Lovely people, and very accommodating.

Extremely clean and wonderful atmosphere. They go out of their way to make you feel welcome and comfortable. Plenty of availability. Great price for great service!

I have been coming here for several years I always get excellent service. The salon is very clean and their services are reasonably priced.

Came here for my first time today right at 9am for a pedi, pink and white fill and eyebrow wax. Service was immediate yet my pedicurist (Carol) didn’t even say hello or a single word during the entire service. When I moved on to my fill the manicurist (who’s name I didn’t read from her tag but sits at the first front desk) looked at my like I had something wrong with my hands. She asked «length good?» Before starting and I had said «actually they’re too long i like them short» she replies «oh, no no no.» And says she can’t do my nails. She mentioned she needs to give me a new set. I said «no, I just need a fill.» She said «no I can’t do» I suggested «I can go to my regular place» she replies «yes go there.» Gets up and leaves. I immediately move to make my payment (completely skipping my eyebrows bc at this point I feel they don’t even want my money and I def do not want there service after this!) and the front desk lady asked me for $ 30 tip! I said «the $ 35 pedicure was horrible, I still have dead cuticle skin here (pointed out the obvious to them) and she goes «oh sorry, so $ 30 tip?» I Reiterated 4x how unsatisfied I was And NOT ONCE OFFERED A SOLUTION TO ENSURE I WAS LEAVING SATISFIED WITH THE SERVICE I PAID FOR

I came here for my wedding mani/​pedi. The service was exceptional! They made me feel comfortable from the get-​go and made sure that I was happy with the end result.

If your one of those nitpicky people who demand sanitized tools, attentive service, magazines and a movie to watch, quality service, and technicians that cater to your needs, then this is the place for you. This should be a given for all nail spas, but it’s amazing what people put up with to save a buck or two.
I don’t go to small salons for this reason. I’d rather save my money and go somewhere nice where I don’t have to worry about health code violations, quality service, and technicians who talk to their co-​workers instead of you. I had heard about Pala and had to check it out.
I had visited this place and gotten a shellac manicure done. Their selection in manicures were amazing. Not only was everything neatly organized on racks, but they had up-​to-​date collection in polishes, new gells, shellacs, glitter, opi, essie, you name it. They have their own waxing and massage room. The facility was very modern and clean. My shellac manicure was flawless and lasted the full 14 days.
It’s definitely worth checking it out if you want to treat yourself to a special, relaxing experience.

I have to agree with other reviewers — their customer service, quite frankly, sucks.
My mother and I used to come here when this place first opened many years back, and we stopped coming after its service began deteriorating. Out of curiosity, I came in November (after many years) and this time around was no exception. I came in and the owner, Joyce, received me rather coldly. As I sat in my chair for the pedicure, I wasn’t offered a magazine or a place to put my coat. My technician rushed through my pedicure and I felt like I had just wasted 35 dollars. She didn’t even offer to walk me over to the drying booth nor did she offer me a customary back massage as is usually given. I had to struggle out of my chair as my technician had already moved on to her next customer. My friends have experienced this at Pala’s as well and have commented on their repetitive bad customer service.
The only thing that this place has going for it is its rather modern décor and clean space. Other than that, I would save your money and go to the newly opened Spa O in Deerfield. There, you’ll actually feel like your visit is appreciated and for the same price, you’ll be pampered like a queen.

I work near Pala, so I’ve been here a handful of times to get manicures and pedicures. Their color selection is about average: all of the OPIs and Essies are there. I like to be a little outlandish with my nail color, though, and they are lacking in the super bright department. They’re definitely not the best quality nail treatments– I’ve had bits of nail polish stuck to my skin after I leave, and I just got a manicure with some bubbling in it.
The past three times I’ve been to Pala, I’ve come during the Friday rush. Each time the lady at the front has told me they are «too busy» to take me and to «come back later.» I’m not mad that they’re busy, but I hate how she doesn’t offer to put my name down, book me an appointment, or even just tell me how long the wait might be. It doesn’t feel like Pala values my business enough to extend the offer, so I’ll be going somewhere else from now on.

I have been going to Pala since it opened. I have always spoken very highly of the salon. When I moved down to the city, I continued to drive to HP to get my nails and eyebrows done. The only reason I am giving Pala two stars instead of one is because of my long history of five star experiences. But the service has been going downhill over the last several months, and after my most recent experience, it is unlikely I will be going back.
I took my sister-​in-​law in this past weekend to get our nails done for her birthday. We were seated next to each other, but my SIL had to wait 10 MINUTES for anyone to come do her manicure. Then at the end, my SIL had to walk herself over to the dryers. Usually the manicurist walks you over, carries your phone and purse, turns the dryer on for you, and gives you a little back massage. NOTHING for my SIL. The girl didn’t even come over to make sure she got situated OK.
And then there was the girl who was doing my nails…
1) When we came in, I informed the salon that I had three broken nails. I was told that there was not enough time to do a nail repair, but that they would glue the nails. However, not one step was taken to help my broken nails.
2) I asked her to make my nails all the same length, but that I wanted to keep the length. Not only are my nails too short to get a french manicure for my sister’s wedding in a week, but they are no where near the same length. In fact, every nail on my left hand is shorter than on my right.
3) When she started putting on base coat, she had not yet done my cuticles. And when I asked her about it, she said she had. Well, because I was so concerned about the fragility of my three broken nails, I was paying very close attention to what she was doing. She didn’t do anything to my cuticles other than put oil on them, and she certainly didn’t soak them in water either. So basically, I got a very expensive polish change, and super short uneven nails.
Moral of the story… NEVER AGAIN.

I have been getting manicures at my hair salon for many years but I stopped into Pala when my regular manicurist was unavailable. The shop is beautiful — soothing colors, new and clean. I got the BEST manicure/​pedicure EVER. My mani lasted longer than ever before and they have all the latest colors from Essie and OPI. From the receptionist to every manicurist, I felt welcome and valued. Of course, now I have the old loyalty issue so I alternate between Pala and my old place (which is more expensive!). It’s becoming obvious that Pala is just better…
