I went in to program a ABS module on a Friday, there service technician told me there is no such thing on programming a ABS module. I asked to speak to a manager. I noticed and heard them speaking among one another on the type of lie they wanted to give me. The manager came out and told me the same exact lie as the other service technician. Also he stated that this particular job takes 6 hours. I knew he was lying. I had to reprogram my ABS module before for another vehicle. He tried to give me a whole story on how they need to do this and do that. I asked him what does that have to do with reprogramming. You plug it in to your computer and put the correct code in it and it’s completed. He told me that the needed to check the entire brake system. I told him no need to. Just program the module. He said ok. He knew I caught him in a lie. He probably wanted to charge me extra and then I asked him if he can fit me in today and he said no he can not. I told him you took cars after me, but you want to leave mine until after the weekend. He said all these customers are here for an oil change, which was not true. Two customers I was standing next to stated they were there for some type of engine light. He saw I began getting frustrated with the lies and poor customer service. He told me he’ll take my car in today but I won’t have it until after the weekend. I was like it’s 8am. Your telling me this will take you the whole day he said yes and if I don’t like it I should leave. I did what he said I took my car and left. I went to Northland Chrysler Jeep and Dodge. I asked there service technician if he can do that to my ABS. He said of course. You can wait for it, it’ll take 10 mins. I told them about my experience at Bill Snethkamp. They said that person did not know what he was talking about and he shouldn’t be giving auto advice to people. I took my vehicle back from Northland after an hour. They also gave me an alignment and did some recalls there were for my Jeep. The whole initial reprogramming for my ABS took ten mins. I will never go into that Bill Snethkamp ever again. Horrible experience. There service technicians need some more training.

One of the employees has a vehicle that is out for repossession. The manager of the location came out and punched a repo driver in the face.

The staff is rude and abrupt. The sales guy we had lied so much his nose grew as we drove off in the van we overpaid for. The finance department was playing obscene music as they were closing down the dealership. We were promised an extra key and a car wash, it NEVER happened. I would suggest you NEVER go here. They were very unprofessional.

Just a typical stealership. Keep your hand on your wallet and don’t bend over. Normal clueless salespeople that can’t make any decisions until they consult with the boss in private to figure out how to take the most of your money. Typical hard sell warranty guy who lies about their competition. They told me Hyundai 5/​60k bumper to bumper and 10/​100k power-​train standard warranty only covers manufacturer defects. Huge lie. Go to cars dot com and search for what you want in a 50 – 75 mile range of Lansing. All the other dealerships have better prices.

Buying a car is one of the absolute worst experiences a person can go through, after moving and looking for a job. It is endlessly frustrating, exhausting, tedious, time-​consuming, and disheartening. The whole thing just sucks the life right out of you until you’re beaten down on the ground screaming, «FINE! Whatever you’ve got I’ll take, I’ll sign the papers, just leave me alone!»
At least that’s how *I* feel.
Last December I was in urgent need of a car (I was using a rental at $ 30/​day because why? I was too cheap for the $ 3/​mo. in rental insurance. I pay that now.). A friend of mine recommended a salesperson at Bill Snethkamp to me – a fellow Detroiter and also a fellow lover of small zippy topless cars, which is what I was looking for (yes in the dead of winter). We have a lot of friends in common all being part of the same «Detroit social scene,» but the level of service I received is nothing less than stories he has told me about what he’s done for other people.
Eric Criteser met me out one night to discuss my car-​purchasing options. Everything from how much money I had to put down, what my absolute ceiling on a monthly payment would be, my debt-​to-​income ratio and how to try to address it speedily for a better loan rate, right down to the types of cars I was looking for and what the best option would be in terms of gas mileage, long-​term dependability, performance, and price.
On another day he graciously took me out to Belle Isle and taught me how to drive a manual transmission using his car. Unfortunately because of the time crunch I was in, this was the only lesson I was able to get, but I managed.
When I found the car I fell in love with on Craigs List, it was about $ 2,000 out of my price range. Eric called the dealer that was selling it, negotiated them down to the price I needed it to be in order to afford it, then — and here’s the best part — went and looked at the car on my behalf and gave me a full report, then on a day I was at work in Dearborn (at the time I was working as a retail manager so I didn’t have the luxury of taking half a day since everyone else’s schedule would be affected) he negotiated the sale with the other dealer on behalf of Bill Snethkamp (so technically I bought it from him), went and picked the car up for me, met me at the car rental place so I could drop off the rental, had all the paperwork ready for me and I signed it all at the Enterprise, drove me back to my work while another guy drove his car (knowing I was in a hurry and had to re-​teach myself the manual trans), and had it all said and done in 90 minutes. I bought the car on a cold December night sight-​unseen and I love my baby MiMi.
Eric went FAR above and beyond in helping me with my car needs, and if he made so much as $ 100 off of that sale it was a lot (in all honestly probably not even that much). I now recommend Bill Snethkamp Chrysler and Eric Criteser to EVERYONE I know; you just won’t get better service anywhere else. Thank you Eric, for making that miserable experience actually somewhat tolerable and putting me in the car that people unanimously agree I was meant to drive!
