She attended undergrad at Georgetown College, where she met her future husband, Rob. She attended the University of Louisville School of Dentistry where she was recognized for her exemplary accomplishments with a faculty invitation to join Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the dental honor society recognizing the highest performing students in each dental class. Dr. Depp graduated in the top 10% of her class in 1993.

Her early commitment to dental health came to life in her founding of the Delta Dental Oral Cancer Screening Program at the Kentucky State Fair, which currently screens thousands of fair-​goers for this serious disease. She continued her education with a general practice residency at the University of Kentucky Medical Center where she cared for emergency and indigent patients across Central and Eastern Kentucky.
