Nick’s Sub Shop & Grill

This place is one of my all time favorite lunch stops. This is definitely one of the more «hole in the wall» type places but what they lack in décor they make up for in overall taste. The prices are very reasonable for the portions, which I think are B I G. My current favorite is their Italian sub (and I don’t ever go for those) but their burgers and other sandwiches (club) are delicious too. The only sandwich I don’t order is their chicken salad. Pretty watery and heavy on the relish, to me at least. Other than that, I’ve loved everything I’ve ordered and love how quickly it is made!
Be prepared to struggle over whether or not you should get the onion rings or crinkle cut fries!

We always love eating here. The owner is very pleasant and his food is wonderful from the steak and cheese to the tuna. He even put up with my tired 2 year old on night and always made sure we had what we needed.

Grease filled food with a side of attitude. Will never eat here again. Ordered grilled cheese with a side of French fries. Very soggy and no taste. To top it off the lady that checked us out had the biggest attitude because I requested extra ketchup. My coworker ordered the philly steak and cheese. Looked like cheap steakum. Her fries were soggy also. She had requested her bread toasted but that didn’t happen. Not worth the money.

Never disappointed when we stop into nicks for lunch. Food is always on point and I’m never left dissatisfied. One of the our favorites is the gyro and spanikopita and of course the Greek salad! Not to mention the Philly cheese steak is Ah-​mazing along with the fresh fries. There are so many great things to try I can’t name them all.

Another one of those great mom & pop restaurants that doesn’t impress much from the outside, but is clean and bright inside, and more importantly, serves up some pretty good food. This one has been around since 1987, is 100% Greek owned, and just won (again) the High Point Enterprise readers award as best local lunch place for 2014 — I know, I know — some of these «best local» contests might lack a certain gravitas — but this one rings true.
The menu is varied, offering subs, pitas & wraps, wings, sandwiches, burgers, hot dogs, a few plates (marinated chicken, chicken tenders, gyro, souvlaki), pasta dishes, and a variety of salads. They have a daily special for $ 5.69, which generally includes a 10″ sub and a 20 oz drink.
We tried several items, including a Hot Dog ($ 2.19), a Cheeseburger ($ 3.29), a 10″ Italian Sub ($ 5.89), a Gyro on Pita ($ 5.99), and finally a small side of house made Chicken Salad (5 oz for $ 3.55). The Hot Dog was not one we’d reorder — the «chili» is more a meat sauce, with Greek spices, suitable for pasta, but not on a wiener.
The Chicken Salad was loaded with fresh tasting chicken, but is a bit sweet for my taste due to the sweet pickles in it. The Italian Sub was pretty good, but was a little light on the meat and cheese, and heavy on the tomato and mayo — that combination results in the tastes of the meat and cheese being rather muted.
The Cheeseburger is outstanding — well sized, full of flavor, and a great bargain at $ 3.29. This sandwich also was a little heavy on the tomato, but removing a slice is an easy answer. The Gyro is also simply excellent — a combination of seasoned beef and lamb, well cooked on a vertical pit, as the meat in a Gyro should be. The meat is sliced a little thicker than most you’ll find, and this seems to keep the meat from drying out, and it is loaded with flavor. Again the removal of a slice or two of fresh tomato was an improvement. The service was fast and friendly.
The Philly Steak & Cheese, and the Marinated Chicken Sub or Plate are well thought of here — we’ll try them on the next visit, ’cause we’ll be back.

Great place! Visited here offer lunch on a business trip. The Philly steak and cheese was amazing. They have one of the best I’ve eaten. Nice Italian Riviera décor and ample amount if seating. Good selection and quick service. Definitely worth trying… more than once.

I can see why this restaurant has won so many awards! SO glad I was told about this place, as it’s not really on the main drag. Great food, always fresh, hot and delicious. The staff is always super nice, and the place is clean! Great job all around, I highly recommend!
