I wish there was an option to leave 0 stars. We called 45 minutes ahead to place a sushi order and no one answered the phone however the closing time stated 9 o’clock. Upon arriving at 830 I was informed the restaurant was closed due to «lack of customers» and that the hostess must’ve not heard the phone. The only thing that the kitchen manager could do was apologize for wasting over 40 minutes of my time in round trip driving. Highly unprofessional will go and waste my 60 dollars elsewhere.

We needed a quick lunch and hence the teppanyaki wasn’t going to work, but the sushi bar served up delicious fare with a friendly chef. The 911 hot roll was sublime … Spiced but not as hot as you’d imagine by the title of the item.

We sat 8n the bar area and the bartender was excellent. Our sushi was delicious too.

Average food that they cook in front of you. To me, the fire show was more fun than the food itself. It is a place to go to get that live Hibachi experience.

While I was in town for a business trip I came here for dinner with a few of my co-workers one night. While the food itself was good, the reviews by others about this place seem to be pretty consistent. We sat at a hibachi table but our group all ordered sushi dishes. Our server was very friendly but it did take a while to get our drinks and food, and at times it was hard to find her again to ask for something. The miso soup(complimentary), house salad w/ginger dressing and veggie rolls I order were all pretty good but definitely not the best I’ve ever had, especially for the price. In an area filled with so many chain restaurants it was nice to find a place like this for a change of pace. And while the food was good, the slow service and higher prices definitely take away from the overall dining experience.

Food was good, but we had reservations for 7:30 and didn’t get seated until 9pm on a Monday night.

Travelling on business with a client and we decided to give it a try because who doesn’t like a Japanese Steak House?! Sat in the sushi bar and the chef had his head phones on, which was my first indication that we should have left. I got the overall impression that the place is run poorly. It’s starting to noticeably age. The cleanliness isn’t there. The wait staff is unenthusiastic. I wouldn’t eat here again. The food was just mediocre too. Judging by all the bad reviews, nobody really cares.

I ate at Fire & Sticks with a large group for a birthday party. My friend reserved the back room a few weeks in advance and was told that our group would have the room to ourselves. We had three of the four tables in the private room and then when they got busy, they seated other people at the fourth table without asking my friend. I understand that they get busy and they did have an empty table in the private room. However, I think it would have been a nice gesture to just ask first. She was told that we’d have the room to ourselves. Fire & Sticks seems a lot more expensive than other comparable hibachi style restaurants in High Point and Greensboro. You do get a whole lot of food… however I feel that the quality of the food here isn’t as good as other places(such as Kabuto’s or Yamato). Our wait staff was amazing. They were very efficient at handling our group and were really friendly and helpful. Our hibachi chef acted as though he really didn’t want to be there. The other tables’ chefs were doing all sorts of tricks with fire and the grill and were being applauded. Our chef barely spoke to us and did nothing to entertain our table. It was somewhat awkward.

Been to this place several times. The service has always been ok. The best time I have seen to go is at lunch. You get better service and they don’t try and pack the table full of people. The food is ok but there are better places out there.

I read some of the low reviews on here and did not have high hopes. Took the wife and daughter here on a weeknight to have her experience table side cooking for the very first time. In her eyes it was 5 star and she loved the onion volcano and the big flames. Very entertaining for a kid that is 8 – 10 yrs old. In my opinion, the food is what I expected and I was not disappointed. I am new to Gboro and had heard this placed advertised on Rock92 and gave it a shot. I would come back for a fun little weeknight dinner.

This used to be such a fun place to come for birthdays and celebrations but its been really bad the last two times we were there. Food was bad, service was bad, and cook did the bare minimum then got the heck out of there. Very disappointing and kind of killed the mood of the evening.

If you are looking for entertaining chefs, good quality and tasting food and attentive service go somewhere else. We went there to celebrate a birthday. On a Monday night, it took 20 minutes before anyone took our orders. After the waitress left and we saw her once when she brought half our orders. We had to beg to get her back to get the other half. Her excuse for not bringing the second half, «You must have told the other white girl.» Now the chef had the personality of a dead fish and took very little pride in what he was cooking. He served me half cut 12 inch rib eye teaming with fat and bristle with no knife in sight to cut it in bite size pieces and trim the fat that was left uneaten. Sauces tasted like dirty dish water. Our birthday girl got a half hearted birthday song. by two people who looked unhappy to be there. I can go on, but why bother. It was badddddddd.

Upgrade to the filet mignon if you are going to order steak. My ribeye was a bit too fatty for a typical ribeye

The sanitation & service are awful. We had reservations, but they did’t care. This feels like the Carnival cruise ship where people had to endure with no food or service for a week. One of our party of eight is pregnant. This place should be avoided!

Our first experience with the food here was a takeout order this past week — and the results were very much a mixed bag — the food was good to very good — but the prices were very, very high — especially taking into effect the portions of some item, and comparable pricing of competitors. The Sashimi Sampler Platter was beautifully arranged, and consisted of 9 relatively small pieces of 3 kinds of fish — Salmon, Tune, and Whitefish The Whitefish and the Tuna were excellent, the Salmon much less so The overall quality and quantity was simply not worth almost $ 18. The Jumbo Shrimp Tempura, which consisted of 4 shrimp and a few assorted veggies, was greasy, and the coating was soggy — not a good dish at any price, but over the top pricey at over $ 12. The Sumo Combo consisted of Filet, Shrimp, and Scallops, accompanied by the usual suspects of salad, soup, fried rice, and assorted veggies. The filet was requested at medium rare, but was well past that stage. The shrimp were excellent, although there were only 5 of them. The scallops were a little off, and I’m always a little suspicious of perfectly round scallops.

The pros… good service. Good food. I ordered scallops and for the money it was a steal. The scallops were huge and I had at least 20 of them. The cons. why do they feel the need to squish 15 people at one table when there are other tables open? And for the first time, it seemed like there was not as much food served. I was the only one with leftovers, and I had 4 teenage girls with me.

I’m still a fan of this place, but our last experience there was not as pleasant because of a waiter by the name of Jason. He was very sarcastic and everyone at our table experienced it. Our cook was the only thing that made up for his smart comments/answers. We felt bad for the table beside us, whose cook did not utter one word the whole time. Not tricks or anything! They had the same waiter as us, so their experience was probably horrible.

The food was good and our server was nice although unprepared but I mostly attributed that to our arrival at near closing time so I am sure he was just ready to leave, none the less he was nice and gave us every extra or left out what we asked him to. The white sauce was amazing and food cooked and tasted well the only reason I didn’t give it more stars is bc for my boyfriend and I we spent over 50 $ and believe me the food was good but it wasn’t worth no 60 $ bucks that we ended up spending.
