History
Established in 1949.
The firm first began in 1949 in downtown Hickory with the goal of establishing a full service law firm. In 1968 Charles R. Young, Sr., a corporate and real estate law specialist came on board. Young was one of 24 lawyers in the state designated by Business North Carolina magazine as «legal elite» in the area of real property for 2004.
Thomas C. Morphis, Sr. was the next addition to the firm. Morphis, an experienced trial lawyer, headed the litigation department. The partners recognized a gap in the Bar of the 25th Judicial District: a true tax lawyer. Wayne M. Bach, a tax specialist employed at that time by the Internal Revenue Service, provided the answer. Terry M. Taylor has a master’s degree in planning and zoning and added expertise to the firm’s real estate, governmental and corporate practice. She is also certified in real property law in Residential, Business, Commercial and Industrial transactions. …
