Dollar General

I normally fear walking into stores like this. The cramped aisles and crazy shoppers. It’s a nightmare. This place was awesome.
The aisles aren’t nearly as bad as other stores I’ve seen. You can actually push your cart through the store here. It wasn’t that crowded mid-​week (not sure about weekends).
I will say the sales aren’t clearly marked. Luckily, I checked the ad before I went and knew what to grab. I was able to snag at least $ 35-​$ 40 (target prices) worth of household items for $ 20. I was happy.
They do lose a star though. The cashier didn’t bother handing me all of my bags and I walked out without half my stuff. I noticed right away and went back. I would normally take the blame on something like this. In this case though she had actually almost «hid» the bag from me which is why I didn’t see it. Strange.

Yippe! Yahoo! Hurray! I was so excited that they finally opened up my favorite store within walking distance of my house! Life cannot be sweeter, with a Dollar General! Yeah, I know I already reviewed the one in Braidwood (which seemed about light years away from home), but I just wanted to get my feelings down in words. More than just a dollar store, they also sell name brand products at very discounted rates. (Aveeno lotion, Olay products, Pantene, just to name a few.) They also have their own brand of products that are comparable to name brands. And the Clover Valley sausage gravy they have there is the best next to homemade!

The long awaited grand opening in Hickory Hills has occurred. They already know me as a regular here. I have to tell you up front that this is not a dollar store where everything is a buck and sells nothing but crap. This store sells name brand merchandise for rock bottom prices and they also have a their own store brand too. If you are looking to save money on staples this is the place to go.
This store is very well kept and well stocked. The staff is really friendly but they are still working out some of the kinks as they have just opened not too long ago. They have a great selection of stuff too.
