Bald Mountain Park Camping Resort

I’ll start of by saying that I’m a pretty laid back guy and usually don’t criticize places if they do a pretty good job and treat you right. So this review is not coming from someone who goes on and bashes every place he visits. But I will say I have to speak up and let you know about some things at Bald Mountain Park Camping Resort. Bald Mountain Park Camping Resort does have some pretty good facilities, not perfect, but they have a nice place to hang out. They have a decent pool area, putt putt area, small pond for paddle boats, and wifi (although it’s spotty). So I can’t say everything is bad about this place. But I do need to strongly warn you of the owner and the staff. My wife and I joined her parents for the weekend in the RV. When my inlaws arrived on Friday, they told the staff in the office that my wife and I would be arriving later that day after we got off work. The rules allow up to 4 people per RV site for the regular price. But then they charge more for «visitors». The staff girl communicated that it would be ok for the 4 of us to stay and didn’t indicate any other rules or costs for my wife and me. But when we arrived Friday, there was no staff in the office. So the next time we saw someone up there was Saturday morning, so we went to get our parking pass. They proceeded to charge my wife and mother in law extra money even though the staffer the night before said things would be ok. The staff was not very nice to my wife and mother in law and basically said pay the money. So they weren’t sure what to do and asked if they could talk to someone. The staff said to come back later to talk to the person who checked them in on Friday to work something out. So they came back the next day when they were returning putt putt clubs to the office. The ladies were very rude and short with my wife and mother in law and really didn’t treat them very nicely, even though we were their customers. They really upset them the way they weren’t flexible or had any concern over trying to work out even some sort of compromise. There had clearly been a misunderstanding, but the staff had no interest in working something out. So here’s where I came in. I though I could be helpful to go talk to the staff and see if we could work out something. I went up to the office and spoke to the owner and 3 other staff who were sitting in the office. I thought as a good business person, looking to make sure their customers were happy and treated fairly, that they would at least entertain a solution to our situation of being «over-​paid». I explained the situation, but they were not in least bit interested in trying to work something out. It was basically the attitude of «this is how it is, so deal with it!» Wow, i was pretty shocked that someone would have no interest in trying to work out some sort of compromise, even try to, but they were NOT interested in helping me at all. it was their way or the highway! I felt very unwanted and like they could care less that they had upset one of their customers. Finally, at the end, I asked them if they had a place to review online my experience. Evidently, that set the owner off!!! He started YELLING at the top of his lungs at me to «GET OUT» and «LEAVE HIS PROPERTY!» In all my years of going places, I had never had anyone yell and treat me like this all for just trying to work out a simple misunderstanding on money. He clearly didn’t care about his customers or them coming back. He must make enough money to be able to treat people any way he wants. He obviously doesn’t understand social media either and that when you treat folks badly like that, then you motivate people to share their bad experiences. The whole situation could have been avoided if the staff hadn’t been so rude and short and been willing to try to work out some sort of compromise to work with us. After he yelled at me, I quietly turned around and walked out the door in disbelief of how awful I had been treated and shocked that a business man in business to bring customers and make a good name for himself, would just throw that all out the window with the way he behaved. Wow! I would highly recommend you find a different place to camp than the Bald Mountain Camping Resort. The Bald Mountain Camping Resort evidently things they can act any way they want in how they treat their customers and there won’t be any repercussions. Stay away from the Bald Mountain Camping Resort!

Bald mountain was an OK campground. WiFi was spotty at best. We had to go to another spot to download. Site was quiet and peaceful. Lots of activities geared for children. Playground, pool, miniature golf etc.

I like that Bald Mountain Park Camping Resort is a bit of a drive north of Helen b/​c it makes you want to stay put and enjoy the outdoors and not get caught up in the commercialism that is known as Helen. The resort has free Wi-​Fi for those who don’t want to give up all of their technological devices. The camping resort is huge and was quiet for the most part. I’d go again.
