I had a remarkable breakfast at Rick’s. I say that because I was staying at the hotel attached to the restaurant, and the hotel included breakfast at Rick’s as part of the rate. So while I was of course paying indirectly, I had no additional expense to eat here. It was essentially a free meal. And the food was so astoundingly awful … such a complete disaster of bland, lukewarm, mass-market reheated crud, in a dirty restaurant equally marred by both the 70’s décor seemingly showing its age and the crumbs from the folks there before us, that I honestly wish I had not even bothered to sit down for my free meal. I believe that I would have had a better impression of the hotel if they had not offered me any breakfast at all. Think pre-cooked bacon reheated in a microwave,* instant pancakes badly assembled, Sara Lee bread poorly toasted, etc. I sincerely hope that lunch and dinner are better. Somebody else will have to give that a shot. This is swill, pure and simple. I’d try to come up with a joke or sarcastic comment to defuse my irritation, but there’s no point. This was simply the worst meal I can remember having. * Didn’t see the kitchen, so I’m hoping that’s what they were doing. If it wasn’t pre-cooked, it’s just even more of a indictment of what a disaster is happening in the back of the house.

What can I say about this place? If I were not given a voucher by the American Airlines to stay at the Howard Johnson Plaza Hotel which is where this bar is located, I probably will never come here. It is not down town, although it bill itself as an Airport Hotel, it takes half an hour to go to the airport. The place is cater to hotel guest really. Very quiet, normally there is no more than one or two serving staff, and there is always one bar tender. Food is only so so. I had a chicken salad, larger portion but nothing special to say about it. Breakfast was better with fruit and pancake.

Located on the side of Howard Johnson in 103 Hialeah, it has nice American and Hispanic music and is just a nice little place to have a meal with the family. Uh waitress was kind of slow but the food was good. I had churasco with white rice and my bf had a burger. Cheap too…
