A recreation based facility, McDonald Water Park’s amenities include a beach entry Wave Pool, 1000 ft., figure «8» Lazy River with a cave water fall, and a splash pad area for our toddlers. Fully staffed with lifeguards and concessions.
This facility also specializes in «Parent and Child» swim lessons (Ages 6 months– 3 yrs.) and Learn-to-Swim toddler courses (ages 4 & 5 yrs old.). Following American Red Cross Standards and course curriculum. (Mon-Thurs. 5−8pm)
Also offer Adult Programs– Water Aerobics courses Mon-Thurs. 7−8pm.
History
Established in 2001.
David H. McDonald Park, a 17 –acre outdoor recreation facility, originally constructed in 1971 and remodeled May 2001. The project was to design and built with the purpose to provide the City’s residents with a quality outdoor recreational facility and water park at an affordable price.
Funding for this project was obtained through three primary funding sources; the City of Hialeah through asvalorem tax dollars, Safe Neighborhood parks Bond Program (SNP), and the Florida Recreation Development Assistance Program (FRDAP).
Another unique feature is the facility is part of two entire city blocks that currently includes a fire station and community police station which includes an e-library.
