Was blown away by the bbq. A friend introduced me to this place. We shared a family meal and it was scumptous. Plenty of good. Definitely a hole in the wall but very popular place. Will be back.

Absolutely horrendous!!! This place should be visited by the health and sanitation department. The service is, to say the least, dreadful. They didn’t even have bottled water. The food was completely inferior, aside from the corn on the cob. Put plain and simple, we just could not eat it. Any of it. We got up, paid, and left — food practically untouched.

The good thing about Koky’s is that you really can’t beat the price and the food isn’t bad. I had a ribeye and ribs combo for $ 9.95. However, I can’t look beyond something that happened that really annoyed me. The meal came with fries, but I wanted rice and beans instead. The waiter insisted that I could not have rice and beans, but I could have mashed potatoes, baked potato, plantains, or yuca. Well, that’s fine and dandy, but I wanted rice and beans. I said I was willing to give up ALL of the sides that came with the meal in exchange for the rice and beans, but I still got a firm negative. Apparently the gestapo behind the counter won’t allow such a thing, so there was no way no how I was getting rice and beans. He didn’t even offer to substitute it for a small upcharge, I just got a flat ‘no’ and an apologetic look. I caved and got what tasted like mashed potatoes from a box, which SUCKED. I hate when restaurants do this because it’s just inexplicable stupidity. Charge me if you have to, but give me what I want for Pete’s sake. We were in Hialeah, so it’s not like there’s a shortage of rice and beans out there. To top it off, my ‘medium’ ribeye was very well done and my husband didn’t get his salad until after he was finished with his meal. Despite my gripes, it’s still a good deal if you’re in the area. As I said, you can’t beat the price.

I love this place! I’ve been coming here for about 10+ years now. The bar-b-q is great. My favorite waiter is RENE! He treats you like family & is awesome with kids! The restaraunt is an older establishment but it’s well kept & clean. This is Spanish style bar-b-q at it’s best & the prices are great too. This is the total package! You won’t be disappointed!

What can I tell you? THISISNOTBARBEQUE!!! This is the end of the road in a failed career for waiters and cooks, A sort of holding cell before execution. What a dump!

So I came here a couple of months ago and my experience with the food wasn’t the best. Well I stopped by again with my family and I was extremely happy. They changed up their menu and the food was delicious. I had the churrasco with the mashed potatoes and it was very good. My boyfriend had the beef and chicken plate and it was enormous. It had about 4 ribs and 3 pieces of chicken plus sides. Overall I enjoyed Koky’s this time, hopefully the food stays like this.

My parents took me to Koky’s almost 20 years ago. We went to Westland this weekend and my wife and I were really hungry. So we decided to try out Koky’s and I haven’t been so pleased with a restaurant in a very long time. The service was extremely friendly, they brought my 1.5 year old daughter free food. We got an immense amount of food for a modest price. Try #21

been here at least 8 times. my wife and all my friends love going here to a certain extent. we know that certain dishes are killer and dirt cheap but other dishes are terrible and the service can lag a lot. the good: — — — * the bbq sauce is amazing! * california steak is killer * the steaks are so big and hang over the big plates! * actually all the steaks are great. the ok: — — - * the salad is not bad. simple but not bad. * the bbq pork ribs were ok. the bad: — — – * the sides are fairly sad. * the corn is overcooked. * rice and beans are super dry. don’t get them * small booths… very difficult to pile in. the ugly: — — — * we found a pubic hair in our meal. we told the waiter and he just shrugged his shoulder like he didn’t care. we were so ticked off. very unprofessional. * we keep having that same rude waiter. if you don’t speak spanish, he just skips you. unbelievable! he’s been there for about 4 years. what a loser! but more than than, why would the management keep such a jerk on staff all this time? gotta be bad management. * back area smells like urine due to close proximity and poor cleaning of the bathroom. totally disgusting. you can sit close to the front to avoid this. i would argue that if you stick to the steaks, sit near the front of the restaurant, and choose your sides wisely, you’ll enjoy your meal at a very low prices. otherwise, you’re in for a terrible meal.

I’ve been here a couple of times, and i must say for what your paying for your getting a lot of food. I felt like it was a cuban style shorty’s. instead of coleslaw, your getting rice and beans. The staff was honest, i asked for regular water, they told me i better order a bottle because hialeah water is not good. I dont know, but i’d go again, the chocalate cake they had was good too. One coke, pork rib meal falling off the plate, chocalate cake, i think i spent 8 dollars.

$ 1 Bavaria beer specials huge plates and somewhat fast service is what I experienced here. I ordered the Texas platter which contained sliced BBQ pork, a half a rack of beef ribs, a thigh of BBQ chicken and a steak all with a side of fries. The plate was huge and for $ 8 a good deal. My only real compliant with this restaurant is that the booths are so small !!! My bf and I aren’t small people and we felt cramped. As most of you know I love my pre-party spots this place is not included in that list. Renee M said it best you get what you pay for when you come to Koky’s and I have no problem paying for it else where

Koky’s has been around for years and provides very cheap BBQ for it’s customers. The dining area is ample but the service is atrocious. The quality of meat here is substandard in every respect. You get what you pay for. I would agree with other reviewers and stick to the chicken. It is always very well done.

This Appears to be a local standby, but people come from far away also. I enjoyed it, plenty of food for cheap. But come late or early all 140 seats fill up otherwise and it shows in wait time for your food. Also lot of kids Plenty noise. Pecan pie cold and jellyish but cheep. Pet peeved don’t show me wifi on my iPhone then say it’s not working while I have four signal bars. L jay

This is a popular place. Not for me. I kinda cringe every time someone mentions Koky’s and I always seem to be the only one. The food is alright. Not bad. I don’t understand what the big deal is. Good deal though. You get a lot of food for around 6 – 7 bucks. They also have pina coladas and some other specialty drinks which is cool for a dingy Hialeah hole in the wall. Not bad, but it doesn’t excite me. Eh…

Alternative to Shorty’s with a Latin twist. Latin twist you may ask… if you know Miami all I have to say that its in Hialeah :) Had the sliced beef. Comes with a small salad, french fires and a buttered toast. Quick service, place is a dive but nice. Big selection of food, will try the BBQ chicken next time.

I’ve been coming to Koky’s since I was 5 years old, back in the late 80s. It’s sooooo good! My favorite is the BBQ chicken with rice, beans, plantains… and a side of fries. Even fries are different but taste amazing! The BBQ sauce is to die for. Try the corn on the cob too. You can’t beat the price at any other place and for how good the food is? Ugh, my mouth is watering as I type this. This place is such a hidden gem. A-mazing! Small but always packed. Friendly reliable service. About $ 5 – 6 per entrée.
