When I arrived the place was dead except for one couple that we’re waiting for their food. The cashier and waitress we’re sitting in a booth playing with their phones. One of the ladies asked me if it was for here or to go? I responded with here and she waved the waitress to show me to a table. The first thing that stood out to me was that their takeout menu has a bunch of dinner options that are not in the actual menu. I hunted for the dinner options in the actual menu and couldn’t find them. I was forced to breakout the takeout menu and point with my finger to the item that I wanted to order. I ordered the Szechuan chicken with steamed rice, egg roll, and egg drop soup. The waiter said«spicy?» And I said yes. I ended up having to request additional spicy pepper to add to the meal because it was not Szechuan style like I had expected. The food was good but the chicken was kind of rubbery. The egg drop soup was delicious and the spring roll was nothing special. The waiter was more interested in what was going on on his phone than in what was going on at my table. I had requested chopsticks and had to request them a second time before he got them. I had to get up from my seat to request more spicy pepper to add to my supposedly Szechuan meal. I tried to get his attention to request some hot mustard but he had disappeared into the back still playing with his phone. When he handed me the check, he then seemed very interested. All in all it was a tad better than mediocre which is why I gave them three stars.

I was really rooting for them! I love Chinese food and I use to get take out from time to time but tonight was the end of a long relationship. The only thing that was good was their steamed white rice. The Mongolian chicken tasted rubbery and in a sweet water tasteless sauce with more scallions than chicken rubber. And my Kung pao had more ‘whole peanuts’ then tasteless rubber ‘chunks’ of chicken. I hope someone reads this before ordering take out. I would hate for them to have such a bad experience as ours. Praying Miami lakes gets a better Chinese take out place.

I’ve been here twice, the first time I picked up Szechuan Beef combo dinner and it was delicious. This second time I ordered delivery Chicken Lo Mein and I couldn’t find the chicken, I also asked for it to be spicy they said they could only add it on the side. When I open the bag the container with the spicy peppers was spilled everywhere. The lo mein was bland and not worth it. However out of all the Chinese food places in the area rather come here.

Ok, this is what we finna do for this here Unilocal. We are going to take«things» into consideration. «Things» like, yet not limited to, the cleanliness of this here place. I don’t know about you but, any local Chinese Restaurant that I have been to, well, people think they eat rats for a reason. No offense to any rats. This restaurant is directly adjacent to the«Cecil Murderers» mother and I have been going to. The windows next door to House of Sun, at the dentist office, are large enough which allowed me a clear view of everything. Which, what I saw was enough to warrant a Unilocal.Even though my food, quite frankly, sucked. But, we’ll get to the food later. There is more you need to know first. So I walk-in and was immediately greeted, get this, with a smile. I was the first one in there when they opened their door. While dining, a gentleman came-in and a couple that appeared to be in a rush. I didn’t see what the gentleman behind me ordered but I did see what the couple on the other side were consuming. It appeared to be some kind of soup. They were in and out of there in no time. Whether they liked it or not, I have no idea but, they were really hungry because they literally gulped that thing. You first walk-into a waiting area. The dining area is behind that. Behind the man eating large goldfish in the fishtank separating the two spaces. Every single table had a premade bowl of them Oriental fried«things.» Whatever they are called. It appeared they were expecting a battalion at any given moment, but, it never came. At least not while I was there. Having a clear view on several occasions, I did see a moderate amount of customers coming-in to pick-up their order. Their phone would only stop ringing for short long periods of time. I, and the other two tables, were left in need of nothing while dining. It almost seemed they are expecting people that are in a hurry and are prepared for it. One waitress was handling three tables in a pretty large Chinese Restaurant. Drinks, food and/or other were at our disposal at any time. See, I ordered something simple. They have menus right outside their door for any walkerby to take. I had plenty of time to know what I was going to order. Their Spicy Garlic Chicken stood-out to me. I had that with Pork Fried Rice and an Egg Roll. The best thing, to me, was their Pork Fried Rice, and, it was very generic. Not bad, just, whatever. Their chicken had no flavor. None, nada, ZILCH. No salt, no spice, not a single yessiree. It was truly awful. That Egg Roll, wasn’t too far behind. You’re going to see newspaper articles from over a decade ago mentioning this restaurant on their windows. Filled with accolades from well known local papers. That was a very long time ago. Something must have happened along the way.

House of Sun –shoulder shrug– My younger brother raves about this place and actually introduced me to them on a whim one night. I’ve been coming on and off for a few months since. Truthfully, the food is nothing to rave about. If I’m close by, with the lil bro and in the mood, I’ll drop by. I normally always order the same thing: Honey garlic chicken(sauce on side) Special fried rice and the steamed meat dumplings(They also serve the dumplings grilled, but they’re aightttt) Again, nothing special. For the amount of food you’re getting they’re also fairly priced. 30 bucks worth can easily feed 3 people. I mean whaaaaatever. I don’t really care for House of Sun. There are so many better places, but it’s close by, convenient and they deliver with no minimum. I kinda like the food better when I take-out instead of dining in? Hm, funny how that happens. I’ll keep bringing my baby brother till he realizes Rice Bucket down the way really is a better choice.

Out of all the Chinese places, in my opinion this one is the best. I love their special fried rice, I also like their honey chicken and pepper steak. There has only been one time where their food wasn’t as great, I am going to assume they were having a bad day. Lol I would highly recommend you check it out.

Greasy wonton soup, low quality steamed rice, not what you expect from a chinese restaurant.

I went to the House of Sun restaurant today in the hopes of receiving an at least semi-authentic Chinese meal. Looking through the menu, I came across a traditional home styled dish called Twice Cooked Pork. I was happy to find this dish; I am a lover of Sichuanese food, and I am passionate in authentic Chinese cuisine. The first red flag I saw was the décor, the restaurant was draped in gaudy red, yellow, and pink colors, all topped with a depressing atmosphere. Second, when we sat down at our tables, we were greeted with a heaping bowl of store bought deep fried Chow Mein noodles. As if this weren’t bad enough, I received one of the worst bowls of Wonton Soup to have ever had the displeasure of slithering down my thought. The wontons themselves were awfully bland. The broth tasted like store bought chicken stock, and somehow had a slightly greasy mouthfeel. But the big heartbreak came when the soft speaking server brought me a dish masquerading under the good name of Twice Cooked Pork. Mind you, this is a Sicuanese dish, famous for it’s sweat-producing spiciness. These tiny morsels of pork were sickeningly sweet. This dish did not resemble the dish I know and love, with not even a hint of spice in the greasy sauce. All in all, I’d never recommend.

Straight and to the point — House of Sun is very clean, moderately priced and serves up good food! I’ve come here sporadically throughout the years, but really started to appreciate it lately. Their meat is clean and rice doesn’t taste greasy at all! I’m a fan of their spring rolls, chicken noodle soup(which helped nurse me back to health during a bad stomach bug while pregnant), fried rice, and honey garlic chicken(so good!!!). If you’re in the area, definitely check out this restaurant!

I did not enjoy my experience in this place. I had the Mongolian Beef which was highly underwhelming. My husband had some entrée that slips my mind but all I remember is that it had a flour-y taste. The only good thing about this place was the beer. To top it all off, I found this place to be more expensive than other Chinese restaurants. Meh!

This is an average Chinese restaurant. I ordered the Sezhuan chicken, but the cook must have added some corn syrup because it was sickly sweet. The spring roll was very greasy. I requested no MSG, but the waiter said the soups already come with it from the supplier… never good to hear. Early bird dinner specials are a good value and include entrée, soup, spring roll, and dish of ice cream: 5 – 6:30.

I ate there today. The chicken was so full of fat! I mentioned to the waiter very politely that he might want to let the chef know that their was a lot of fat on the chicken. He tells me «their is no fat on the chicken, that must be something else» I show him my napkin where I spit out all of the fat and he tells me, «No we don’t have fat on our chicken. WOW! So I give up ask for the chocolate ice cream that was part of the special I ordered. The ice cream tasted terrible also!!! This food is terrible!!!

What a great surprise this place was! We just moved to Miami Lakes and House of Sun’s menu was in our apartment complex’s welcome package, so I figured I’d give it a shot. I enjoyed my food so much that my husband ordered from them as well when he got home. We ordered: A la cart Shrimp with Chinese Vegetables Added dinner option with wonton soup, chicken wing and steamed rice Combination Dinner Kung Pao Chicken including wonton soup, pork fried rice and egg roll BBQ pork appetizer. First off, I loved the chicken wing option. Too many places just slap a midget egg roll in the bag and call it a day. The huge wing was perfectly cooked: moist and juicy inside with a crunchy, light breading. The Shrimp w/Vegetables was fantastic. The veggies were obviously fresh and perfectly cooked. I’ve had way too many experiences with soggy nasty broccoli, rancid looking bok choy and/or rock hard, crusty carrots so I appreciated the quality of the ingredients. The sauce was light and flavorful. The soup was a bit greasy but the dumpling filling was very savory. The Kung Pao and fried rice were a disappointment; they weren’t bad, but they seemed pretty blah even though we ordered them extra spicy. The egg roll was another example of fresh ingredients; I could tell what each shred of vegetable was. The pork was awesome, awesome and more awesome. Tender, meaty slices with a sweet and smoky sauce. No crusty, burned ends here! This is definitely NOT a $ 1 Chinese place. We spent over $ 40(although some of that was for the double delivery). However, the food justifies the expense. We plan on going in for a family-style meal very soon and will keep the delivery menu handy.

I love house of sun! I am not really a huge Chinese food person but the honey walnut shrimp & spicy vegetable fried rice here would make anyone a Chinese food lover.
