Hialeah Hospital

The only way to leave a comment about thus hospital is to leave a star. Note that I would have left a –star if I could. The State should re-​examine this place. Upon walking up to the entrance the tiles are popping up enough to trip you or give someone in a wheel chair a lot of trouble to get out of their wheel chair and pull it over the hump. Can’t say much about the service as I was not a patient. However the maintenance of this faculty has a lot to be desired. Base tile missing, corners and door frames banged up, hall wall trims missing, dirty walls and the list continues.
The other review about language isn’t far from the truth, if you don’t speak the language expect to wait a little longer for some who does speak the same language as you.
I’ve never did like Hialeah, people feel they own the whole city and can do what ever they want what makes a hospital in middle of this city any different.
State, Ada and health department should revisit this place, but then again its like all the illegal additions and remodelings done. Most of those city officials are the ones who did or permitted it back 20 30 years ago and now that they got put in the news they care making it sound like other people did this. Really who started it and ignored at the time south Florida building codes.

Worst hospital ever!!! That star is not what i would give them but none. I’ve waited in ER since 5am and still im not in a room WTF!!! A lot of nurses walking around, talking about what they did last night, the hair and the guys and they don’t remember they
a hospital. Next to me was a family and they were looking for the doctor that was attending their family member and NOBODY knew who was the doctor or where was the doctor. Seriously!!! How can nobody do nothing about it. Nurses don’t know what they are doing. Honestly which school they went to, to obtain that degree?

If I could give negative stars I would. This hospital is the worst. The nurses are slow and rude if you call to get an update on a patient. I couldn’t get in contact with my mom and I had to call the nurses desk three times because they kept transferring me to the wrong nurse. They told me her nurse was busy to call back in 20 minutes. They also don’t enforce visitor hours. My mom just had surgery and needed to sleep but the woman in the bed next to her had six people in the room talking and eating until 10:30 pm. They were there the entire next day. The day she’s supposed to leave we waited over two hours for the discharge papers. Try your hardest to avoid this hospital.

My dad got into a car accident and was taken here (unfortunately) over other nearby hospitals. They put him in the ‘fast track’ room and he waited for about and hour before someone acknowledged him. They gave him two butt shots (one pain med and one muscle relaxer) and let him stay on the bed. Didn’t clean him up until me and the family got there 30 minutes later. He had a very nice nurse (Adriana) who took care of him and checked on him, even cracked a few jokes. He wasn’t seriously injured so it was nice to see a sense of humor to lighten things up. Another nurse came to convince him kindly to take x rays just to be sure everything was fine. We appreciated that! It’s definitely not the best area and is a pretty rundown looking hospital, but we didn’t have as bad of an experience as we all thought we would.

This is absolutely ridiculous. I have come in with my grandmother. First off, upon arriving to the ER, I drove up as close to the door as I could. My grandmother cannot walk, so I went in to request a wheelchair. 10 minutes of waiting, and still no wheelchair. So I ask the girl at the desk again, and she calls again to request it. Right after that, some guy comes up to the window also requesting a wheelchair. I told him «good luck, I’ve been waiting 10 minutes for one». Well, right after that, my wheelchair comes, and Mr. Big shot that came after me took it. When I told the nurse that was in the process of wheeling the chair out that I was the one who originally ordered it and have been waiting, he disregarded me and kept walking. Luckily right after that, they brought another one. So I finally get her in and park. I walk in again, and it is really hot in that waiting room, looks like they had the air off. It is now 4:55pm, we got here at 2:30pm, and they only have taken us from one waiting room to the next. We are still waiting. The doctor here looks like he has no idea what he’s doing. And I’ve seen about 3 patients just walk out because they have been waiting many hours just to get discharged, and they do not attend them. Horrible horrible ER.

Never have I had such unprofessional and rude service in a hospital. Even Jackson hospital which is a public hospital has more efficient and well mannered employees. Registration has taken over 2 hours with no sign of being able to leave anytime soon. This is ridiculous.

i have no choice but select one star to comment but this is not star quality at all. A animal hospital gets better ratings than this. Horrible rude dirty out dated they still have small big booty tvs up in the ER beds. my dad was there twice for a few days and they killed my pockets $ 7 To park i was there 4 hours and for 2pieces of chicken and dried up macaroni i had to pay $ 11.20 with my drink. Dont call for a nurse to clean up a patient 48 min wait… It sad how bad this hospital is. And the kitchen area they have the same chairs and tables i use to sit on when i was 15 and use to do volunteer work there… will not recommend no one.

Such a rude staff. have not had 1 pleasant experience here. Deciding to switch hospitals today because I can’t take it anymore. Unprofessional and just plain rude! Oh and don’t go to the emergency room unless you want to die.

How does this place have any stars?! I was stuck here once cause I thought Palmetto hospital was the worst.
They’re equally bad, nurses nor doctors give a shit about you.
It broke my heart hearing the lady (maybe in her 80s) next to me crying out in pain «stop, you’re hurting me, what have I done, God help me» while the so called cna was bathing her. Next day I woke up around 7 a. m and was heading for my morning leak and when I was about to walk past her she told me she’s thirsty. I looked at her tray and there was nothing. I got my little cooler (big cup with ice that they give you) and stood over her holding it while she was sipping (with a new straw).
I felt horrible thinking does she think I work here? I showed her my I. v to let her know I’m her roommate and that I’m sorry they’re not taking good care of her.
If her kids didn’t come everyday who the hell would feed her?! I strongly dislike this shitty hospital.
My doctor wasn’t helpful and I only saw her 3 times out if the 9 days I was there for what was an emergency to the point where I was in icu for 3 days.
*** This hospital needs new management and staff who can go above and beyond what’s required with a heart!

This is my second time to Hialeah Hospitals emergency room and I was surprised. I had always heard horror stories but both times have been without incident and the staff have been very attentive. The emergency room physician was receptive to the patients pain management needs. I am giving 3 stars because I work in the medical field and see areas of improvement where others wouldn’t. Example if you are the nurse sent to take out blood and they are telling you that the patients veins are very fragile and difficult to get blood from why wouldn’t you just start with the butterfly needle. Why make the patient suffer through multiple stabs on different veins. This is common in every hospital so I can’t blame them. Just depends on the nurse or lab tech u get. Other than that I have to say pleasantly surprised at how staff goes out of their way to make the patient laugh and feel at ease.

A hospital literally across the street from strip clubs-​do you really need any more information to get how nasty this place is?
Also, Spanish is the language of choice – the staff barely speaks English and they are rude. I was grossed out just being in this area.
Just plain and simple: go anywhere but here. I mean even a freakin crack den might be more sterile than this place… plus, they might speak your language.

Can I give it 0 stars?
To illustrate why 0 stars would be the appropriate rating, I’ll briefly relay two anecdotes of my experiences with Hialeah Hospital.
First, my mother broke her arm years ago. It took about 10 hours until anybody deemed her worthy of his attention. That’s right: my mother had to sit for 10 hours, gritting her teeth and holding her (literally) snapped arm. Nobody cared.
Second, years after that first incident described above, I had a bout of chronic tonsillitis. I, too, had to wait hours and hours ’til a doctor was able to see me. Of course, the doctor quickly dispensed with me after a cursory glance inside my mouth.
The hospital’s premises are disgusting, the staff is rude (yeah, yeah, I know it’s in Hialeah, but some of us do have some expectations of decency and professionalism), and all their stuff is outdated. And, in my opinion, most of the nurses and the doctors are incompetent.
Don’t go to HH.

I have been to a lot of hospitals and this is by far one of the worst I have ever been to. The staff is unprofessional, no one really speaks English (i know, i know it is Hialeah), and it is just overall dirty.
The only real word of advice is if you need to go to Hialeah Hospital, don’t.
Go somewhere else. Trust me the drive is worth it.

Liked then hated, and never coming again, EVER.
I came in Wednesday to have my blood taken, & register so Friday it would be smooth sailing, to my surprise the staff was very friendly. I will be honest I judged the place becasue of its location… I figured I was in for a long day becasue I thought I was not going to be able to communicate with anyone since I do not know Spanish. However, they spoke English, not the best for some but enough to get by.
I was instructed to go left, left, right and the first door to the left is the place to go. I got lost and asked for better instructions, still got nothing, I obviosuly looked lost becasue a couple employees stoppped to help me.
Finally I made it to the office, which was at the front entrance next to the deli. Why couldn’t they say that to begin with? Any who, I registered and set to go, and the registering guy tells me to be here at 6am. GREAT.
Thursday I get a phone call to come in to register for tomorrows surgery… Um I already did. I crossed my fingers hoping everything would be smooth Friday.
Friday, up at the crack of dawn which I have not seen in a few months, thankfully to a sleeping through the night baby!
I go up to the designated area, and um it is dark no one around… THE PLACE IS CLOSED! We find this out becasue we asked a cleaning lady and she opened up the «authorized persoanle only» (haha) and my hubs walked in and almost immedat;y was surrounded asking why he was in there and etc. I give them that they are on top of that lol. We explain and the nurse stated she has no idea why they said 6am when they don’t open until 630am. MAN I could have slept some more! She asked he got in and he said when the other nurse walked in, we didn’t want to get the cleaning lady in trouble. So finally the place opens up, and I am getting ready.
I get changed into surgery gear, and look at the TV and it states the pateints name, doctor, type of surgery, time called in, and time of surgery. Okay the place we are in is the pre-​surgery area but still why the hell would I want every other pateint knowing what I am having done. What happened to HIPPA?
Staff very friendly, helpful, calming.
After surgery, I wanted out and back to my son. HOWEVER, they forgot to give me my shot (which I reminded them of) so they had to take my blood again, mind you I have been pricked 4 times now, and double check that I do have the blood type I am saying I do. Then they need to order the shot, give it to me and then give me instructions. They should have had this done and ready for me when I was done with surgery.
I chit chatted with the staff who were friendly excpet for one… & that one got into a heated arguement as I was leaving to go home. It was an agruement over food. Eating around the pateints, and the place of where it was in the fridge. I mean honestly conduct yourselves professionally please. The agruement was so petty but entertaining at the same time lol.
In the end I will never ever ever come here again, and wish my doctor was affliclated with another hospital becasue she is just wonderful! So now I am looking for another doc! :-(

This is the hospital you come to if you want to die.

I have to agree with the previous review. My mother who is an Alzheimer’s patient was recently taken to Hialeah hospital and I would not recommend it. Unfortunately a lot of the nurses they have, have no business being nurses or taking care of other people. That hospital is dirty, out-​dated, and needs a better staff. Next time I will have my mom taken to a different hospital.

They’ve got a big sign that says «rated top 10% maternity center in the nation.» Please, please do not pay attention to that. Brace yourself. These stories are ugly.
20 years ago a family member died during childbirth due to the negligence of not one, but several doctors. The main doctor couldn’t even remember my family member’s name. Surprising being that she was the most critical person there at the moment. Then he waited for the situation to get much worse for him to take any action. The baby was taken out late and was born severely retarded. Then the anesthesiologist made a mistake that cost the mother’s life.
Granted that was two decades ago… But this year my grandfather was near death and was rushed to the nearest hospital. Unfortunately, Hialeah was the nearest hospital. Guess who the doctor is? The same guy! And as clueless as he was 20 years ago! Didn’t know what to do, would juggle around a lot. Asking the same question 50 times. Just plane insane. Thank goodness they transferred my grandfather to another doctor and thankfully a good one.
The doctors aren’t the only thing to be afraid of. Everything in there is in horrible condition. I think they have things there from the stone age. Sonogram machines from the ‘70s, computers from the early 90s. The paint job is depressing. It’s like an insane asylum, or scene from Nightmare on elm street where Freddy Crougar just claws the walls. There are unsightly stains all over the floor. Just plain horrible. Terrible.
