I come here everyday and Mary, Cynthia, Neisa, Elsa and Confesora, yes, that’s her real name treat me like a brother/son depending on who you are. The cuatro golpes is my daily fare and they’ve learned how I like it, quemao con la ñema blandita, just like my mother used to make. So, if you want to eat real Dominican food, cooked as if you were sitting in someone’s house in Santo Domingo, this is the place to be. I’ve brought all of my friends for the sancocho, mondongo, mofongo, carne Frita and quipes! Small, close knit and friendly, Pio Pio is a staple of my daily living. Sad to see that people had issues here and didn’t say anything.

I order my breakfast from here frequently because I absolutely love it! The mangu is one of the best I’ve had. The staff is very nice and the price is fair.

This is my first and probably last review, I really don’t like to speak negatively about a place unless their food is truly terrible. The reason I don’t judge a place by their appearance or staff’s attention is because ultimately the reason I go to a restaurant is to eat, and if truly wanted to be pampered or have my ego stroked I would have visited a day spa. I guess by now you know the gripe I have with this restaurant is the quality of their food, breakfast is what I had in particular. I ordered the«cuatro golpes» or «four punches» and I have to give it to them because it really felt like getting punched in the stomach four times by the sloppiest food you can imagine. The items in said breakfast are mangu, salami, fried cheese, and langonisa sausage but it doesn’t matter as the flavors are muddled by the overly gratuitous amount of oil used to cook everything. Eggs over easy? More like over greasy. Anyone who values their money should reconsider buying anything from here as it’s seriously overpriced for Crisco covered crap.

Food is good. It smells like bleach but food is ok. Service is also ok but not great.

We needed some place to go close to a friends hotel and found this. Barely! It’s tucked WAY inside a small shopping plaza. At least we found it. There is a very small and limited menu. We ordered a chicharrone appetizer that was friend but all fat and it was still squishy, not hard like it typically is. My husband got some kind of chicken dish that came with plantains and a salad. He said ti was over-fried and had a lot of bones in it. It reminded him of «island food» The plantains were hard and not soft. Our other friend ordered a steak dish that came with beans. I ordered the mofongo with shrimp. The oil/sauce for the mofongo wasn’t really similar to anything I’ve ever had as it was more saucy than oily. The shrimp was in a separate dish served in a reddish sauce that didn’t have much flavor. The waitress was very attentive and kept our Coronoa’s coming to the table. But we had to raise a fuss about the loud music the locals were playing. Once, when I looked over at the guy playing the music through his system, he was looking right at me with his hand on a knob. I felt as though they were trying to run us out with loud music since we were the only white people inside. Even this guy went outside to use his cellphone. We finally complained and they turned it down so we could at least have a conversation. There are a lot of better places to get spanish food from. This isn’t the worst, but it’s far from being the best, either.

Little hole in the wall in Hialeah Gardens. Love to find places like this that end up being gems. Had the breakfast special. Two eggs over easy, two bacon, French fries and Cuban toast all under $ 4.00. They have homemade orange juice. The ham croquetas are delicious, totally worth it to taste. Cuban café con leche delish. Whenever I come back for the lunch or dinner will write about that then.

Thanks to Unilocal I found this little hidden gem right down the street from my house! I was craving a Dominican breakfast, I came here with high hopes and definitely was not disappointed. I’m Dominican and I must say, their mangu was better than mine LOL. I had mangu with a fried egg and salami — EXQUISITE! I’ll definitely be a frequent here and will recommend to anyone wanting some authentic Dominican food.

This is a small family owned Dominican restaurant in Hialeah Gardens. Super delicious food, great service and awesome prices. I had the«Mofongo with Vaca Frita» and it was amazing, the best flavor in town hands down. Mofongo is a dominican dish made out of fried pork skin mixed with garlic and mashed green plantains. You pay about $ 8.50 for the dish and the portion can almost feed two people. For appetizer you gotta have«Queso Frito»(fried cheese).
