We are a modern full-service medical facility specializing in the care and comfort of all breeds of dogs, cats, avian species and all exotics. Hewlett Animal Hospital and pet resort can take care of all of your pets’ medical requirements including exams vaccines, all laboratory testing including heart worm and fecal testing. We can put your pet up to date with his yearly dentistry and are well-equipped to perform any surgeries that are necessary.
In addition to our complete medical facility we have a deluxe luxurious careless boarding at our same location.
Each pet has it’s own room just like they would at home. Your beloved pet will sleep on a bed with a fluffy blanket; most rooms come equipped with a flat-screen TV. Many of our rooms have comfortable couches; we also play soft tunes at night for your pet’s leisurely pleasure & we make sure they all have night lights to make them feel safe while they sleep. If your pet enjoys socializing he can play (always with supervision) in our indoor play area and the same in our enclosed outdoor play area. Your pet will have three walks around our safe property and our nite attendant will check in on your pet several times during the night.
We have luxury suites upstairs where your pet can enjoy 24 care with our Nite Attendent! They will go up at night with the Attendent and come down in the morning to enjoy all of our daytime activities.
History
Established in 1972.
Dr. Zipkin has always had an extreme passion and love for all animals. Ever since he was a young boy, he knew that his life would be dedicated to the care and comfort of all animals. Dr. Zipkin and his wife Fern began their veterinary practice in their first home in Hewlett, approximately 45 years ago. The practice grew so rapidly, that it was necessary to purchase a larger facility at 1225 Broadway in Hewlett. This has been our home for the last 45 years.

Dr. Martin V. Zipkin.
Business Owner
A graduate of the University of Illinois School of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Martin Zikin, DVM, worked at Wantagh Animal Hospital and Dr. Terry’s Animal Hospital prior to the opening of the Hewlett Animal Hospital in 1972. He runs a small animal and exotic’s animal hospital in the same location and presides over the Hewlett Animal Hospital Luxury Pet Resort.
Dr. Zipkin has extensive interest and knowledge of Zoonosis and has lectured to the Nassau County Pediatrician’s Association, North Shore Hospital Infectious Medicine Group, and the L.I. Owners Handlers group.
He has also presented to the Long Island Jewish and North Shore Hospital physicians, as well as to the Nassau Queens Dental Association. Dr. Zipkin has even made TV appearances on Animal Planet and on Long Island Cablevision TV.
