I was very disappointed in the coffee at this location. I ordered a peppermint mocha and actually wondered if there was even coffee in it. Their machine looks like an industrial-strength espresso machine but was either weak or broken. On the other hand I ordered a fresh cinnamon roll and it was excellent. So bad coffee and great pastry made this a three-star visit

Enjoyed lunch at The Annex. Housed in a former movie theater lobby, the art deco Hollywood décor is fun and elegant. The menu includes salads, soups, wraps, sandwiches, paninis and pizza. There is an emphasis on Italian ingredients. I had the Prosciutto de Parma pannini which included prosciutto, mozzarella, greens and rosemary fig jam. It was good, but the flavor of the prosciutto was somewhat overwhelmed by the jam. I plan to go back and try some of the other interesting combinations on the menu. The Annex also features desserts, bagels, and other bakery items. The small dessert items like tiny pies and brownies are a great way to have dessert without overdoing it. That is, unless you buy several. They were delicious. I tried the white chocolate little pie and the cream cheese brownie. Warning… even though they look portable, do not try to eat them while driving! A variety of specialty coffee drinks are served. There is a selection of getalos, too, although they looked a little melty in the case. I am going back. This is a welcome break from all the barbeque and burger places in the area.

I’ve been there 2 times now about 2 weeks apart. The first time the food was good, service was a little slow, but the coffe wasn’t hot. not only was it not hot, but nearly cold. I gave them another shot a couple of weeks later and had lunch there with my wife and daughter. Again the food was quite good, however after waiting 25 minutes and seeing two groups that ordered after us receive their food, I went up and asked about it. For some reason our order got labeled for pickup and had been sitting in boxes for the last 10 minutes. They offered to re-cook it for us, but by this time my daughter and pregnant wife were too hungry to wait. After speaking to the manager(Who took the order) about it she apologized and said that if we wanted anything else, coffee, dessert, to let her know and it would be on the house. we finished our meal, and since we were planning on coffee anyway, I went up and ordered the coffees and chocolate milk. The manager was standing there next to the register as I ordered and apologized again… then let the girl charge me for the coffee. I’m not the type of person to say«isn’t this supposed to be free?» so I just made another mental note, and waited for my coffee to arrive. Again, the coffee was room temperature. So after 1 mediocre experience, and one pretty bad experience, I will no longer go to the Annex. It is a shame because I think it could have been a good addition to the area.
