I have been going to VA abc in herndon Fairfax reston areas. This was the worst ABC I have been to. Not because of the collection they have the Chinese lady who works there makes faces and comments on customers if we spend more then 2 mins in the store. This is my first and last visit. That lady’s name is souky.

Very large selection of hard liqueur and friendly staff. Located right next to a grocery store.

Virginia ABC Stores are fine across the board. I’ve never walked into one that didn’t have friendly or helpful staff, and the Herndon location is no exception to this. Their staff acknowledge that you’re there, offer to help, and offer suggestions when you’re stumped. They always have a wide variety of the more common liquors, but don’t necessarily have a vast stock of the more unique brands that many people would probably buy if given the opportunity. What not many people know about Virginia ABC Store is that should you purchase a large quantity of alcohol, or something that you later decide against, should it remain unopened they will refund your money, and you can return it to any store nationwide as long as you have your receipt. HOWEVER, they charge a 15% restocking fee, which to me seems like a way of trying to appease customers while at the same time giving them a middle finger. Let’s be honest here, the store isn’t that big, and it would take all of thirty seconds to put a bottle back on the shelf. I’m sure most customers would even be willing to do it for them if it meant not getting dinged with such a high return fee. Maybe it’s just me, but a store that charges a restocking fee may as well not have a return policy, because either way the customer is getting the short end of the stick.

I found this store pretty large. The selections of each liqour type is wide. Huge variations of flavours of vodka. And in diferent price ranges. From really cheap to extravaganza. I could explore here for a long long time! It is always fun to visit a liquor store in a foreign country. In the states especially, they have so funny flavours! What do say about mashmallow or cheesecake flavoured vdoka? It sounds like a dream! And all the pink girly looking bottles! I actually came here for beer, but no beer at all. Maybe that is always the case at liquor stores, I don’t know. I find it strange. It would have been great with a similar range of ales, IPAs, stouts that you can buy in singles.

This is where I stock most of my personal bar from. I’m trying to learn how to host kickin’ cocktail parties(come on by!) so I’ve recently spent inordinate amounts of my disposable income here in an attempt to ensure that I’ve got a solid variety of liquors(and liqueurs!) on hand for my guests. I’ve yet to discover any type of hard liquor that can’t be found here. Additionally, they have a pretty decent assortment of mixers as well. The folks that are staffed at this store have always been ready to lend a hand or point me in the right direction(on those rare occasions when I pop in for the one alcoholic element that’s missing for my latest planned concoction), but otherwise let me browse in peace. Peaceful! That’s totally what this place is. Every single time I’ve come to this store it’s been cool, quiet, and tranquil(unlike my cocktail parties…) I think the closest I can get to describing the experience is like wandering the aisles of a library. Instead of books, you have pretty bottles filled with liquid joy. What’s not to like?!
