New Decade Hair Design

I absolutely loved this place. I started with blonde ish brown hair with alot of natural hair, but tried to do an at home kit and go all blonde. It failed miserably and then i tried to cover it up with dark brown and it turned purple. Thankfully they were able to take me on a walk in the next day and the receptionist was very helpful. She recommended Choi (Choy?) who then talked with me and evaluated what had to to be done. She ballparked the cost around $ 180, and said it would not exceed, but may be less depending on amount of product used. I had expected 200 – 300 so was pleasantly surprised. Although it sounds like alot, it had to be completely stripped of color (PURPLE) and then washed, conditioned (so my hair didnt end up like straw), and then dyed brown and washed again, then blow dryed. She started in and told me that she was going to try her best, but the brown may end up very dark because the stripped hair would absorb it so fast. She chatted with me the whole time and was very nice, and reassured me that if not returend to normal color, would at least be a shade of brown.(At that point anything was better than purple). Anyway, it ended up great, and she told us that normally it’d be more expensive but would only charge 180 since che’d promised.(would habe been much more since myhair is extremely thick and below my shoulders). She also recommended special products since my hair was so dried from all the bleach (though she did use lots of conditioner so it was in better shape than I’d have expected) but she recommended I buy it myself elsewhere since her shop would charge more, but we ended up buying from her since she’d kept the price down for me. VERY pleased.

I read the great reviews of this place and thought it sounded awesome since I moved in right down the street from it.
First of all, it’s all older women who work there. As soon as I sit down and tell my lady what I want she starts yanking at my hair really hard. I tell her she’s hurting me and she barely lets up. When she finishes cutting and finally gets to the blowdry it kind of looks like she’s trying to give me some kind of old lady blowout. It was awful! The worst part was coming home and realizing that my hair was totally uneven in the back! Worst haircut experience ever and it cost me $ 50 plus I had to get it fixed.

I could rave about this place for hours! Donna is a lovely stylist who tries to not only cut a customer’s hair perfectly, but know them on a personal level as well.
I’ve been going to Donna for about three years or so and have never once been dissatisfied with her service. She knows exactly what I want every single time I go in, and if something wouldn’t look good or fit me perfectly or really mess up my hair she will tell me and give me more options.
I used to have incredibly curly hair until I went to a place called Zoe to get it straightened by a Yuko. My hair used to be very long, but when I got it straightened they cut off a good ten inches or so (even after saying I would only need to cut off four). I wanted my hair to grow back out, so I waited for a while before going back to see Donna. I had a lot of split ends due to the chemicals they put in my hair and she had to cut a bit off as opposed to the usual trim she gives me. I HATE getting my hair cut simply because whenever I get it cut, the person who cuts it usually chops off a few extra inches. Donna, on the other hand, cuts off the minimum needed to keep my hair healthy and split-​end free. I’ve never had a better stylist.
Also, a few years ago Donna had to get a new hair straightener and I needed a new one, so she picked two up, one for her and one for me (well…for my dad to give to me as a hannukah gift.) which was really great. (It’s incredibly hard to find a decent hair straightener now a days for the right price.)
It is a bit expensive, but you’re getting all, if not more, of your money’s worth.

I go to Beth, who is a fantastic hairdresser. She really takes the time to make your hair work for you, not the celebrity you want to copy. Very often I’ll show her a picture of a haircut I would like to try and she’ll say, «That won’t work with your hair type, but we can do something a little _​_​_​_​_​_​ (shorter, longer, chunkier, lighter, darker, etc).» I have been a client of hers for years, and have never been dissappointed. And the true test: friends and coworkers ask me where I get my hair done.
