I had always wanted to resume taking ballet and tap dance lessons after becoming an adult, but I just never took the time to do it. So recently I started to research ballroom dance studios and instruction, due to in part of the TV show «Dancing with the Stars». I realized I wanted to learn more about different types of dance, and how to dance each one properly. I found Fred Astaire Reston Dance Studio right in my neighborhood. It was one of the best investments I ever made. I didn’t want to compete, just learn different dance steps. This was a wonderfully fun and enjoyable experience. The three amigos — Sevrin, Susannah, and Nathan are such professionals — and they make you feel like one, too! They all have personality plus, and are patient and guiding and encouraging. This trio made my vision come true and I’ll always look back and fondly remember my dance lessons and the fun I had while learning. You owe it to yourself if you’re still thinking about taking dance lessons… boogie over to this studio and you definitely won’t be disappointed!

The last time I took dance lessons before recently was well over 50 years ago when I was in high school and the dance studio at the time refused to allow Jews to participate, thus excluding my Jewish classmates.
Now, I am 71, and I want to be able to dance and not just to move my feet on the floor. I had been trying to learn dance at the Arthur Murray Studio at Tyson’s Corner, but I found that the lessons seemed to be geared to a very slow progression at a relatively high expense. While I especially liked one of my instructors, I really didn’t know from week to week whether she would be my instructor and that instructor transferred to a different studio. The studio made no effort to wonder why I quit or to retain me.
I discovered that there was a Fred Astaire Studio very near to me on the Reston-​Herndon border. I jumped to the opportunity to try out that studio and I fell in love with it immediately and signed up.
This is highly professional studio but I sense that while it certainly is a budding business, they really want their students to learn as much as possible I think with the idea that any of us could one day be a competitive dancer (not me, but I want to dance up to my current limits). My instructor has become a real friend and we adjusted our sessions when I recently broke my arm. I learned more in my first few lessons than I did in weeks from Arthur Murray. I have seen some of my fellow dancers excel. The studio has learning and social parties every Friday and special events (including a wine tasting dance afternoon in the near future at a local vineyard). There are also group opportunities to dance during the week.
This studio is expensive, but it is worth it if you genuinely want to learn to dance and to have real fun in the process.

I came across a groupon that was being offered for Fred Astaire Reston after watching Dancing with the Stars so I decided to try it out and I’m so glad that I did. This is a great studio! I use it as my way to unwind after work. I’m learning to do all the ballroom dances including salsa, which is my favorite all while having a great time doing it. The staff makes you feel so comfortable and helped to relieve my first time jitters. Sevrin, my teacher, keeps me laughing the entire time… even when I’m stepping on his toes. If you are looking for a great dance studio to learn and have fun this is definitely it!

My fiancé and I got lucky when finding this amazing dance studio in preparations for our wedding. I knew this was the perfect place to have our «first dance» lessons when Susannah asked me over the phone if we wanted to be YouTube sensations or if we just wanted to survive. Of course I made us an appointment for a free lesson, which was so much fun and not at all awkward as I thought it would be.
We were given several package options and were able to pick one that suited our needs and our budget. Each of our lesson lasted 45 minutes at roughly $ 85/​session (worth every penny)! Their studio hours were also perfect for our work schedule because they had appointments as late as 8:15pm.
