Camden Dulles Station

I’ve lived at CDS now for about 9 months and I would say I am pleased. But as with any apartment there are pros and cons.
Pros:
1) Maintenance staff! These guys are awesome. Requests get completed usually within one business day. And they very pleasant gentlemen.
2) Amenities, I do enjoy the gym and on site car wash that is free. Courtyard areas are very nice and well kept. (But the trash is a bit expensive when there is a garbage chute on every level in the parking garage… and I don’t like that the only option is cox cable).
3) I have had positive experience with the staff thus far. Shannon knows my name when I walk into the leasing office and is everyone has always been polite and helpful.
Cons:
1) The FIRE ALARMS! Jesus take the Wheeelll. I don’t understand how they don’t have it under control after YEARS of bad reviews and complaints. 2 weeks ago the fire alarm went off 3x in ONE WEEK! All between the hours of 1:00am-7:00am. I guess I was lucky my first 7 months here, I thought the alarms were a myth!
2) The hallways looks atrocious! For the price we are paying I would have hoped they’re was more effort on upkeep inside the buildings.
*** I will note that as of last week they did email all residents to let them know of upcoming changes like flooring and painting***
3) About one month after I moved in construction began next door for the metro. Hope you’re early bird because you won’t get any sleep after 7am :)
But I like my apartment and all the features inside. Elevators are convenient, neighbors are friendly, and I can’t hear anything thru my walls. I enjoy the neighborhood as well. Sorry for the Novel.

The apartments are nice. Get past the annoying, detached, apathetic leasing office and you will have a great time here. Just to review my experience, let me premise my review by saying that we work for a business where we WERE leasing multiple apartments at this complex because of the quality of the apartments. After continued work with the management here, it was clear that the apartments MUST be nice to make up for the terrible practices in place by the complex’s management company.
There are so many policies and procedures in place to make SURE that you can be stiffed for all sorts of fines and fees whenever possible. Also: make sure that you’re never late for your rent or they’ll file a LAWSUIT against you immediately, and say that it’s just «standard practice.» They’ll say that they’re REQUIRED to, but that’s just what they’ve been trained to tell you to shut you up. I’ve been working with multiple apartment complexes and this is the only one who never gave us any flexibility — even given that we’re a corporate lease.
If you’re a company — STAY AWAY. There are many more reasonable complexes in the area with equally nice apartments, and much better management. We will not be re-​signing any leases with this company and advise you do the same. Good luck on your apartment search!

We have lived at two different Camden locations and while the customer service was excellent at both, we like the Dulles Station location better. The parking garage allows you to park on your level and walk straight in, so carrying groceries up 3 or 4 levels isn’t as grueling as it used to be. Plus, we don’t have to shovel out our cars in the winters! The staff knows you by name when you walk into the leasing office, and are always extremely helpful. The building feels very secure as you need a FOB for all points of entry. We moved into the Dulles Station location 6 days before our wedding in 2012 and the least stressful thing that happened was moving into Dulles Station. Highly recommended for any and all looking for a great place to live, specially with the metro coming in and stores starting to open up on the street level!

Camden Dulles Station is great place to live. This place has all the amenities needed at a good price. Best thing I like about the place is Covered Parking. With Winter approaching soon, Covered Parking saves lot of time. Valet Waste is also great service they have here.

This place is perfect, people are friendly staff is great and apartment complex is set up well, easy access to all amenity’s and shopping. They do events and resident appreciation day. They are always doing something. Shannon (Manager) is a great leader and a wonderful person. I absolutely love it here and love the Camden staff.
The Camden is not for everybody, if it was it would not be perfect. Come see and you will understand.

I stayed at Camden Dulles for 3 months and really enjoyed my stay. Everyone in the leasing office were great, and were always willing to assist with any issues that arose. The apartment complex was very nice and updated. I would recommend this complex, and plan to reside there again if I move back to the Herndon area.

I lived here for two years several years ago, and I’d have stayed but the company that owns this apartment complex continued increasing my rent each year. The apartment didn’t get $ 225’s worth of «better» in the time I lived there. So just be aware, even if you are a model renter who pays on time and never has any complaints, you will eventually be priced out and have to pay for an expensive move.
I didn’t care for having to pay for the TV/​Internet package they’d arranged, but I knew that going in and unfortunately yes, some tenants aren’t careful with their trash on trash days which can result in some refuse in the halls.
The fire alarms went off in the night several times while I lived there — and this was six years ago — so there’s got to be an ongoing electrical issue. Not fun when the fire truck shows up and all the tenants must stand in the cold winter weather until you’re cleared to go back into the building. Surprising to read in other reviews that this is still an issue.

This is a great place to live. My family has been at Camden Dulles Station since February 2015 (over 4 months). The apartments are spacious and it is obvious much thought was given to the floorplan, window placement, fixtures and other details.
Moreover, the managers, leasing agents, maintenance crew and other staff have been outstanding. Maintenance requests and any other issues have been addressed quickly and appropriately. The fitness center, resort style pool and courtyards (with several large stainless steel charcoal grills) are top notch as far as apartment building amenities go. Definitely worth visiting and checking availability if you are apartment hunting in the Herndon, VA area.

I lived here for 30 months and had a wonderful living experience! Shannon is an excellent manager, and everyone on the leasing team and maintenance team are so very professional and super helpful. I just transferred to San Diego on 6/​17, and just came from Camden Tuscany in Little Italy on ⁶⁄₁₉ to see if I’m able to live there mid July.
A wonderful location in a gated luxury apartment complex of two buildings in a small town center. You can walk every where or drive one mile to work, shopping, dining, and of course walk around the community. It’s a new area and so there’s new places opening up very soon. It’s also near the new Silver Line — go, go right now, live in a special place. Have fun!

I just want to mention: Beware of bullshit ratings that give them 5 stars. They are very broad and try to use selling points such as «multiple floor plans,» «state of the art gym,» and «near RTC and shops.» Real people giving real ratings are more specific and don’t try to sell you on floor plans and such. Don’t fall for it.

Camden is by far the best apartment community that I have lived in so far.
1. Apartments — lots of different floor plans. I live on the ground floor, so I have the hard floors and high ceilings. Really nice! The quality of the fixtures and appliances in the apartment is better than I have had before.
2. Cable and valet trash are included in the monthly rent fee. I absolutely LOVE valet trash. Sunday through Thursday you can have your trash picked up at your apartment.
3. Quiet hours are a plus.
4. Leasing staff is super friendly and professional. They put in a lot of effort to coordinate fun activities.
5. Parking garage! Don’t have to brush off snow from my car anymore.
6. Online community board — share comments, sell items, etc.
7. The gym is by far the best apartment community gym I have ever experienced. The equipment is in very good to excellent condition.
8. Landscaping — the courtyards and outside areas are well kept and are really enjoyable to look at.
9. Location — close to Reston and the Toll Road. Also close to Sterling and the Dulles Town Center.
10. You can upgrade to high speed internet and additional cable channels. It’s really nice that you then just pay Camden for the upgrade instead of having to pay Cox a separate bill.
11. Continuous maintenance of the property — grills are routinely cleaned, hallways floors are washed, trash bins are emptied, apartment filters are changed, garage is power washed. It really nice that they keep the place looking very nice and clean!
There are lots of perks to living here and the staff is always trying to improve and add more benefits.

For the Leasing Office:
We went there few months ago for leasing information. Katie was the lady welcomed us. She was very friendly and professional. In the mean time, you can tell she is knowledgeable about the apartment. We asked her many questions since we were serious trying to find a nice place for our new home. She was able to answer all the questions with her knowledge. We are international students that our first language is not English, I know sometimes it’s hard to understand our English. But Katie explained every details with patience. We also talked with Calvin once on the phone, he was very nice and professional as well. The total leasing process was smooth and hassle free. They treat us very well no matter we sign the lease or not.

For the Apartment:
–Fees:
We lived in another Camden apartments for 2 years. So we are familiar with all the Camden fees and extra charge. Make sure you know that you have to pay
Pet Fee (Application & Monthly)
Tech Package (TV & Internet)
Trash Valet
These fees are required no matter if you need them or not. We have no problem with these. Overall, without the tech package, we will have to pay $ 50 more if we buy internet and TV ourselves. Trash Valet is very convenient, just leave your trash bag outside and someone else will throw them for you.
–Location:
The apartment itself located in a quiet location. Surrounded by hotel, office building, and university. There is a park right down stairs, makes it easy to do dog walk everyday. I think the pool is open in the summer only, we won’t use it anyway. The GYM is professional and big enough to do daily work out. The business center can save you some money for printing. Finally the parking garage is nice too, you don’t have to clean the snow in the winter.
–Transportation:
The location is very good for us. We commute to DC/​Arlington everyday, just go on the toll road and it will takes you directly to I-​66 (Already passed I-​495). Then just another 15 minutes drive to DC. Or you can drive to Reston Metro Station and take the subway instead. Do your own calculation, see if the Toll Road is cheaper than Subway fares. There isn’t any heavy traffic on the Toll road at most the time.
–Moive:
We watch movies a lot on the weekend. The AMC at worldgate (that you can lay down) is only few miles away. You can also go the AMC at tysons in 15 minutes. I believe there are also Regals and Cinemark near by.
–Shopping:
There are few plazas/​shopping centers nearby. The nearest one (3 minutes driving) has Shoppers and CVS. If you just drive a little bit more (like 5 more minutes) you can basically find everything, Gaints, Safeway, Bestbuy and etc. Walmart, Costco, and Sam’s Club is about 10 — 15 minutes away.
–Restaurant:
We cook less than twice a month. So Restaurant is a big part in our daily life. Fortunately, there are a lot nearby. From fast food to fine dining, none of them are far away. We love to go to Chantilly which is only 15 minutes away.
–Rent:
You can pay the rent online or by check. Honestly, the price here is a bit higher than other apartments in the area. But think about the quality between here and other cheap apartments. What kind of apartment are you living at? What kind of staff are you dealing with? What kind of people are your neighbors? Do your own calculation. It’s 15 month of your life. For us, the extra rent is worth it to live in this good apartment.

Overall, this apartment meets everything we expect. We love here really well. Beautiful apartment, convenient lifestyle, and friendly staff definitely worth 5 starts.

My husband and I have been living at Camden for 15 months and it has truly been a wonderful experience. I can honestly say it’s on my top list of places to live in Nova. If you are looking for a place that’s long term or short, Camden can accommodate your every need. We signed our lease online, while out of state and did a virtual tour — the entire process was quick and smooth. They have a wide variety of features that makes them stand out amongst other communities. I find the rent to be reasonable for the area. I love that they have ample parking as well as a secure indoor garage.
The community is very safe and I feel secure when my husband travels. They also have a very nice Business center, state of the art Gym, jogging trails, Theater, pool, BBQ grills, Gazebo and Entertainment hall (which I’ve used and was very pleased). We don’t have any pets, but they are very pet friendly and strive to clean up the «accidents» that do occur as quickly as possible. Units come equipped with stainless steel kitchen appliances; modern washer & dryer, valet garbage removal, and best of all — a built in wall hook up thingy’ for my iPhone and you can listen to music throughout the apt. (which I love). Grounds are always kept clean; they did a great job this past winter, when the snow hit hard. Whether you are single or married, looking for a super chic apt. that caters to the highest quality of living standard — Camden is the place. Other positive points: nearby shopping centers, quick access to Dulles toll, Technology pack, convenient online paying, Community blog, online service request and loads of activities for residents to mingle.
The management team (Shannon & Katie), along with the leasing staff and maintenance crew are all very helpful and friendly; they always greet you with smile and are prompt to answer any questions or service request.
(The entire team takes pride in what they do).
Regretfully, we are leaving due to — job relocation (sad face). I don’t really have anything negative to say about the community (there was an issue with the alarm systems but they have fixed it & the inevitable happens when pets are involved, they have accidents…)
Nevertheless, if you’re looking for the ultimate living experience as well as excellent management and staff. Look no further, Camden is it!

My stay at Camden Dulles Station has been lovely so far.
The leasing staff are wonderful. Kevin, one of the leasing agents, gave my car a jump once when its battery died. Shannon, the manager, called on a night it was going to be especially cold, and gave me tips to keep my apartment safe.
The apartment is located in a beautiful, runnable area. Arrowbrook park is close by, which has a nice Summer Concert Series. It is also close to many shops and restaurants, notably the Reston Town Center, Worldgate, and the shops at the Clock Tower.
Any needed maintenance is always taken care of extremely quickly and it is easy and convenient to submit a request online if you so prefer. My roommate wanted some sealing fixed on our sinks (I didn’t even think it was an issue) and apparently the maintenance staff repaired even more than he requested — going above and beyond to make our apartment nice.
The gym is lovely. I am a NASM certified personal trainer, and the gym has enough equipment to efficiently train clients of all levels. It has a squat rack, bosu balls, new treadmills… everything you could want — and they always welcome and even solicit suggestions for new equipment. They are constantly updating the gym and adding more, which I love.
There is a lovely pool which is open late in the summer. It has two levels, and the running water is a nice touch as it keeps the pool looking cheery into the colder seasons.
The leasing staff host little community cookouts and get togethers. The few I’ve been able to attend have been really fun!
We have walnut floors, high ceilings, track lighting, and architectural arches in our apartment which make it look spacious. We have a washer and dryer (full size!) in unit, which is great. The price is reasonable (most apartments are in Herndon, as it is unfortunately a distance from the city). Soon the metro will come to this location though, making the commute into the city a bit more convenient. I anticipate that it will be nearly impossible to rent at Camden then.
There are nice grills and picnic tables and courtyards to host cookouts in. There is also a movie room and a lounge.
Overall, a great apartment. Five stars.

Beware! Property manager Shannon is very manipulative!!! I live on the second floor in building 2, and Hallways are always dirty, even though they say its been cleaned. I’m not sure about other floor’s hallways in the main building. Stairways smells awful, has a constant wet dog smell. They only keep the areas they show potential residents clean, and nice. They also say they do this «daily» walk but honestly, no matter what Shannon says I don’t buy it.
I don’t know how many maintenance guys there are but I’ve lived there for 9 months and literally always see the same 2 men. 4 staffs in the main office including the manipulative manager. Kevin seems like he tries to show concern but then seems like he doesn’t really care. Sarah, seems like she shouldn’t even be in this type of job. Shannon, just lazy and manipulative, she’ll say anything to shut you up and get you out of her face. Katie is the only one that seems normal, and nice.
Expect recent fire alarms. often times right in the middle of the night, during your deepest sleep.
Can’t see how safe and secure your cars are if the gate is just a stick of wood. Sometimes they’re are left open. And when ours constantly got «broken» and ran over, maintenance would repair it. Looks like they just taped it back with caution tape. Lol
Oh, and their «valet trash service» its a mandatory 35 $ fee added onto your rent. But what gets me is, these Mexican men’s come in their own car. Lol, really. They carry one large bag on their back to collect trash down the hallways (which is dangerous, bc what if there was any broken glass?) and they throw it down the chute on that current floor. In general seems like they work really hard for hardly any pay. They seem friendly.
My conclusion. If you have options pick wisely, if you can stay elsewhere do so.

Came here on recommendation from my girlfriend who was familiar with Camden Properties in another state, and very happy I did. For me it’s less than 1 mile from my work and the office staff (especially Shannon) are THE BEST staff I’ve ever worked with at an apartment complex. They are incredibly attentive, thorough, and responsive to all questions, comments, and concerns. I remember on my first walk through, Shannon called the residents by first name! WHAAAAT! SOLD.
Apart from the couple fire alarms that have gone off in the last few months, they have all been from people intentionally or unintentionally tripping them, and in all cases, the office staff communicates quickly with the community. Great amenities in the apartment and complex and very reasonably priced. Compared to my old complex (The Ashton in Herndon, VA), let’s just say I was very happy to leave (and come to The Camden) after my two month stay.

The staff is very friendly and great, but they can’t DO anything! They can’t fix the fire alarms that will wake you up out of your sleep multiple nights in a week. They can’t stop the random acts of vandalism due to the building being so easy to access without being a resident. They can’t stop disgusting people from letting their dogs potty in the hallways/​elevator. They can’t change their leasing office hours to be more convenient for those of us who commute to DC. This place looks great on the outside, but is terrible to actually live there! I’d do anything to break my lease without paying an arm and a leg!!!

Expect a fire alarm to go off at 3:00 am 4:00am in the morning about every three months.

I thought I would write my account of my experiences with Camden Dulles Station to share them with those who might wish to benefit from them.
Part 1: Who am I’
So that you can understand the perspective of your reviewer, I will summarize a few key details of who I am. I am male, in my thirties, have previously owned a very nice townhouse, and prefer to rent so that I don’t have to do as much maintenance. I’m in the middle ground for noise/​quiet: I don’t care to hear my neighbors or footsteps overhead but I also don’t want to have to tiptoe around my apartment and I’m glad I have to deal with neither. I have been living at Camden Dulles Station for nearly 3 years and this will be my last year here.
Part 2: Features that Make Camden Dulles Station great…
— 1^st floor units feature laminate floor — great for people with allergies
— 1^st floor units feature 12-​foot ceilings — feels massive
— covered garage parking is plentiful and there is no additional charge for it
— side-​by-​side full-​size washer and dryer with storage overhead — most newer apartments feature a stacked setup
Part 3: What else is good about Camden Dulles Station’
I am well cared for by the people in the leasing office. They are quite young and energetic and are generally glad to see you and to help you get your packages and arrange for repairs. Brian and Laura have proven themselves to be reliable and professional over the last few years.
The building itself is nice looking with well-​designed courtyards and plentiful covered garage parking accessible directly from all floors. The workout room is nicely equipped featuring dumbells, benchpress and pull-​up tower, cardio machines, and circuit weight machines. The location of the buildings provides easy access to highways VA-​28 and VA-​267.
The unit I live in has lots of storage and a very roomy kitchen setup, which features beautiful wood cabinetry and stainless steel appliances. The kitchen stove is electric, if that matters to you. My apartment is very quiet: I have a neighbor above and another to the side and I can report that I have no complaints about noise whatsoever.
Part 4: What’s not so good’
— Fire Alarms go off in the middle of the night. This has been an on-​going problem for a few years and, while Camden have been making investments into the system to fix it long-​term, they have been unable to achieve a full solution as of ⁷⁄₂₀₁₁. It has been some weeks since the last incident so they may have it fixed now.
— If you live near the trash chute, the smell might be a bit much to take on some days. This is especially true on the first floor of 2320 where the chute is horizontal and you have to give the trash a good toss for it to make it to the dumpster. People are lazy and it’s a nightmare scenario by Sunday morning. I also had an infestation of flies during 2010 and I think this may have been due to the dumpster setup as well but that problem was addressed by Camden hiring some pest control help.
— The hallways are rather unfinished looking. On the first floor, they are open-​air into the courtyards so it sort of makes sense. However they look just as unfinished on floors 2 – 4, which are not open air.
— There’s nothing else around the apartment buldings but mostly-​empty office buildings and hotels. This may be a good or a bad depending on whether you like things quiet. But for me, I wish that Dulles Station was able to capture some retail tenants.
Conclusions:
Overall it’s been a good 3 years. I do love my apartment and I’ll be sad to leave it as it was my first and continues (mostly) to be good to me. Further, my next apartment will lack all of the features I listed in Part 2 above. If they resolve the fire alarm issues and the rent doesn’t skyrocket, which it does seem to be doing, I suspect this will continue to be a good place to live. I am saving more than $ 100 a month on rent by moving to a very nice apartment building just down the street.
Overall, I would classify Camden Dulles Station as a good experience and a solid option if you intend to live near the Dulles corridor.
