I found this place accidentally when my husband worked in an office building nearby. I have had numerous appointments over the last 3 years and have never left feeling disappointed. I highly recommend Andrea if you want to book any waxing appointments.

When you first enter into their front desk area, it is already very calming and smells wonderful. I got offered tea or water and guided into the waiting room where you fill out their paperworks. It was all going smoothly until I went into my spa room, and my aesthetician (Anita) was beginning my facial. Now, I made this appointment a week ahead of time with the receptionist. I specifically told her I wanted the classic facial + LED therapy. But my aesthetician had no idea about the LED. I also explained to the receptionist that this was my first facial ever, so naturally I expected a courteous explanation of the process and clarifications before I started anything. That obviously didn’t happen.
I was handed some paperwork, 5 minutes later my aesthetician came to the waiting room calling my name. I waited in the room for her, and when she came in she started beginning my facial without even clarifying what I wanted. I came here with my friend, and she initially wanted a classic facial but was debating that with a back facial. She told me her aesthetician didn’t even clarify with her about what she wanted and started the classic facial.
So, as I was getting facial I felt like everything was being rushed & she was pretty rough on my face. The facial itself, I’ll say it was a 5⁄10. The mini massage she added in was nice, but I certainly didn’t feel comfortable and relaxed. I felt like she was just trying to get through the day as if I were just another client. and this being my first facial ever, I would say it was a pretty unprofessional experience. I also did want to mention that my face was red for 2 days, and I am slightly breaking out.
I definitely love their office set up though. It is so beautiful. The music, decorations, and smell all goes well together. But personally, I’d rather get an astounding service in the spa room rather than being in a fancy waiting room for 5 minutes.
I would probably never come back here :/

Background:
I had a neck inflammation, and I could not move at all yesterday. My shoulder and base of the neck were hard as rocks. I had seen the chiro who relieved the stress in my alignment, but nonetheless, the pain was unbearable in the muscles, and so I decided to try deep tissue massage.
Experience: My therapist was Katie Allison, a very intuitive person who patiently worked out the knots in my upper back and neck. She was very gentle but firm in her pressure. I was a little antsy because of the pain, but she managed to talk me through that. Her energy level was good which is very important when someone is working on you hands-​on. After the massage, she provided some pointers on things I could do to alleviate the pain at home.
The studio also has a beautiful aura and ambience. A quiet get-​away in the middle of all the day-​to-​day running.
Outcome:
I cannot believe I was in deep pain yesterday. I feel so much better and have regained my movement in the neck and can walk faster as well.
Tip: This was my first time I tried deep tissue massage (I have done many Ayurvedic ones with oil in India before this). I was little uncomfy when I did the session and right after it, the pain intensified. But after three hours, I could feel my movement coming back and the pain subsiding. Today, I feel so much better and cannot imagine not having done this.
I am considering going back to Calvert, specifically to my therapist because I need to address the deep-​rooted problem in my neck.

I loved the setup they have for the pregnancy massage. The pillow was really comfortable and allowed me to relax while being flat enough that my entire back was reachable. Cory did an amazing job — she was friendly and professional.
My facial was enjoyable as well. I haven’t had one before, so I wasn’t sure what to expect, but Andrea walked me through the process. She was great at explaining what she was doing and accommodating my pregnancy.
All in all it was a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon that left me blissed out for the rest of the day! I’m already trying to come up with an excuse to go back :)

Today I received a prenatal massage from Erika, who was absolutely wonderful. The lobby smells amazing and I didn’t have to wait at all for my appointment. I quickly was taken back to a waiting area that was very tranquil and peaceful — definitely putting me in the right mindset for the amazing massage I was about to get! The room where I received my massage was warm, but not too warm, and inviting. It also smelled great and the table was comfortable. Erika listened to the areas where I wanted some more attention paid and immediately got to work. I thoroughly enjoyed how she approached the massage — she worked on my right side, then my left, and included my entire back, arms/​shoulders and legs/​feet. Her touch was firm and effective, but also very relaxing. I would 100% recommend coming to Calvert Rejuvenations and requesting Erika. I know I will be coming back!

My fiancé surprised me with a facial and massage for my birthday. Andrea did my facial and Kori did my massage. Both services were wonderful. I love the space, very quiet and relaxing. I highly recommend and I will definitely be back!

I’ve been going to Calvert for a couple of years now, and their massage therapy services are great. I don’t think I’ve had a massage I regretted (except one time where I had an unexpected reaction to some aromatherapy oils). Generally, they’re a pleasure to deal with. Two exceptions:
1. They have a poorly enforced policy about whether you need to leave your credit card with them if you’re calling for an appointment. They have all of my information on file, but sometimes — not sure why or when — I have to dig my credit card out every time I call. Mildly annoying if I’m trying to drive. No big deal though.
2. There is something wrong with their appointment system. This past year at least two — three maybe — appointments have been misbooked or not booked at all. This last week I called to change an appointment, which they supposedly didn’t have. Then someone ELSE called to confirm the appointment I was trying to reschedule.
It’s annoying enough that I’m trying somewhere else. We’ll see how it goes.

I was looking for a nice spa to get a pregnancy massage and Unilocal led me to Calvert Rejuvenations.
Scheduling an appointment was easy and straight to the point. There is plenty of parking in front of the spa. Upon entering, I was warmly welcomed and offered some water and tea. The ladies at the front desk are very sweet and really set the mood for the appointment. The ambiance is very calming, it’s a cute and homey space. They sell some cool spa products towards the entrance, don’t forget to check it out. If you check into Unilocal,you can get a $ 5 boutique card to use towards any of their spa goodies.
I love that they offer complimentary Harney & Sons Tea, it’s one of my favorite brands. The whole spa smells amazing. There are two restrooms in the spa, one near the entrance and one towards the back of the spa. Both restrooms have the coolest toilet seats, it has seat warmers and all sorts of other options. I arrived 45 mins before my appointment so I could just relax and unwind. I highly recommend coming in a bit earlier so that you can also fill out the necessary forms prior to your massage. There is a cute room where you can relax, while waiting for your appointment. The waiting room has soothing music in the background, warm neck pillows, dark chocolate kisses, granola bars, magazines, and comfy seating.
My massage therapist was Brittney. Right from the start she made me feel comfortable and taken care of. She explained how my positioning would be a bit different for the pregnancy massage. From the moment she began the massage, I knew this was going to be awesome. She has magic hands! The pressure was perfect and she really worked out all my knots. She was patient, friendly, personable, attentive, and caring. I’ve had a lot of massages in the past, but I must say this was probably one of the best I have ever had.
I’m hooked!

Just had a wonderful experience here getting an ear candling treatment (for the first time!) and it was very therapeutic and beyond my expectations.
The moment I walked in I was instantly relaxed and felt cozy… So much so that I debated on staying for an hour and a half to get there next available massage! (Next time!)
The first time I was here was for my first massage/​facial almost 10 years ago!
No idea why I don’t return monthly (if I had it my way, I’d be here daily) but I think this is going to be a new regular spot just because.
Thanks to the all around good vibes, warm inviting atmosphere and to the friendly caring staff, I literally did not want to leave! Thank you Calvert and well done on the beautiful oasis that you’ve created!

After some not great massages at other places, we’ve started going back to Calvert and, I’m happy to say, the experience with the sick massage therapist seems to have been a one off.
Been seeing Elena recently and she’s great. Calvert is definitely not the cheapest option around, but still a better deal than paying 2⁄3 the price for a crappy massage elsewhere.
Also, the people are generally very friendly.

My husband gave me a 30 minute massage as a gift. Calvert Rejuvenations is tucked away, so it would be hard for anyone to stumble on it unless you knew it was there. I felt instantly relaxed upon walking in. I was taken to a nice waiting room to fill out the paperwork with a fireplace, soft music, and comfortable couches. If only all waiting rooms were that nice! Calvert, the owner, did my massage. She was very thorough and professional. She asked me where I would like her to focus. It felt amazing! I would definitely recommend Calvert and her spa!

My friend and I were both very pleased with the service we received.
We arrived and were given the standard paper to fill out at a spa. I had signed us up for the seasonal massages, and when we arrived, we were asked if he we wanted single rooms or the same room. We made our decision and they made the arrangements.
The first step was to choose the scent of aromatherapy. Then the massage.
My experience was great. The masseur was very competent and confident. My friend also had a great experience.
There were some delays in processing the spafinder gift cards, but that was the only glitch in the visit.

My fiancée and I decided on Friday to go get a couples massage. I checked on Unilocal and found Calvert highly recommended. The online booking was easy and simple and I made an appointment for Sunday morning.
From the minute you step inside you can smell the aromatherapy scents in the air which are quite relaxing. Our massage was with Brittney and Audria. Both of them were great. Made you feel very relaxed and asked if the massage was hurting and if you were comfortable. Audria paid attention to an area behind my knee that I told her was giving me problems. Afterwards she even offered recommendations that might help.
Overall a great place that we are definitely going to again. Highly recommend.

I had previously written good reviews about Calvert Rejuvenations. More accurately, I had written about one of their therapists; she consistently provided a five star experience.
She is no longer there and I’m no longer Calvert’s customer, because she was the reason I went. Last year, when my therapist was on an extended leave of absence, I booked two massage appointments, with a different therapist each time. The experience was okay, but nothing on par with what I was getting before.
I personally do not like up-​selling. I went for a massage, not to buy a bunch of over-​priced lotions and oils. The sales pitch was distracting and detracted from the relaxing atmosphere that I sought when booking the massage.
Calvert recently put a lot of money into a large expansion and remodelling effort; she should have put that money into retaining her best therapists, and retraining the others. Look at my other reviews if you’re looking for a therapist that will provide a world-​class massage and won’t try to sell you the lotions she’s using at the same time.
Sometimes when a business grows, it loses sight of the underlying reasons why it is growing and the quality of the people that facilitate that growth. In other words, the business owner loses focus. Unfortunately Calvert’s is a textbook example of that situation.

I hurt my shoulder and neck. This place came highly recommended on Unilocal.When I called they didn’t have weekend appointments. So took the Monday one for deep tissue massage. Just 5 minutes before the appointment, while I was parking the car I was called to inform the therapist is not available (apparently she hurt her back) and no one else to sub on her behalf. This was unbelievable. I wish they called me earlier.
I wasted 90 minutes driving to and from this spa.
If I don’t turn up on time my credit card would have got charged. In the same spirit if they couldn’t meet their commitment the least they could do is offer a free service some other day. This is 90 minutes I could have spent with my family or at my work or some other massage place. I am totally disappointed with their service or rather lack of it.
PS — I just read Lisa’s review down below. Looks like they have a pattern to this problem.

This afternoon I had a frankincense aromatherapy massage from Elena. The environment of the spa is so sweet, charming, and every encounter is personalized and thoughtful. The experience of the aromatherapy massage was beyond any other massage I’ve ever had, I’m going to do my best to get others every month. It’s an environment that doesn’t feel commercial at all, yet is obviously very sophisticated.
Terrific combination making for a very happy client.

Calvert Rejuvenations Spa is a great spa hidden in a part of old Herndon! I went here before my trip to St. Lucia in August of 2013 (and have continued to come here), to receive a waxing treatments — (my first waxing was done here)!!
I feel like I am in a peaceful forest every time I go to this location. When you walk in the front door and go to right– there is a nicely decorated area with products for purchase and receptionist to assist you with your check in and check out. After the receptionist has you checked in and they always ask if you would like tea or water (this is complimentary with your service). After you receive your drink the receptionist walks you down to what I call a «Zin» area – that is not the real name it just sounds nice. This is a very peaceful an nicely decorated waiting room that plays calming music, has comfy chairs, a beautiful view of the forest found in their back yard, and magazines to read (if you wish). When your technician is ready for you they will come and greet you in the waiting area and escort you to the room where you will get your service done. I have had two technicians since I have been a client of Calvert’s and they have both been really sweet and nice people (which was great to me because they were working on personal areas of my body for my waxing). I really am glad that I had my first «waxing experiance» at Calvert. They have an amazing staff, they are nicely decorated, always clean, and have a special «zin» and/​or calm I feel whenever I visit.

My husband gave me a gift certificate about 2 years ago, and I have been to Calvert twice now. The first time was for a leg and underarm wax before my wedding and honeymoon. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed in my leg wax — the wax basically broke the hair shaft at my skin and I ended up needing to shave before my wedding and throughout our honeymoon. This was the first and only time I’ve had my legs waxed, but I couldn’t believe how painful it was! I have a very high pain tolerance and other, more sensitive areas are never near as painful! By the end of my first leg I had broken out in a cold sweat. Not sure if this was poor technique or this is typical, but I’ll never have my legs waxed again. I don’t remember the name of my aesthetician that day.
My second experience at Calvert was much better. I had a brow wax and petite facial with Barbara. I specifically scheduled with her based on other Unilocal reviews and was very pleased with her attentiveness. I previously had a bad brow wax experience at another salon and she was very receptive to my requests with my brows and they turned out great. My skin normally is fiery red after a brow wax, but this time there was no redness! Not sure if it was technique vs type of wax or the facial that followed. Barbara asked if there were any areas that she should focus on during my facial, and again she was very attentive to my needs. I left without a splotchy red face even after extractions! My skin was brighter and so soft. I will definitely return and see Barbara in the future.

For my birthday, my husband bought me the ‘Bit of Bliss’ package at Calvert’s. It’s a teaser really, 30 min massage and 30 min mini facial. I had wished I added extra time to each when I scheduled my appointment, but since it was my first visit, this was going to be my trial run.
Calvert’s sits hidden in the ‘woods’ behind some commercial/​industrial areas. The location is not very large. When I arrived I was greeted by a receptionist and saw a wall of products. I was immediately offered water/​tea and ushered to their waiting room. Here, while filling out their paperwork, I was also offered a warm neck wrap. For my massage, Erika was my therapist. She is very courteous and good natured. My only complaint, though very minimal, is that Erika’s hands were cold when she began my massage. Overall, no biggie, because the massage was very relaxing. By the time she was done, although it was all too quick, I was ready to crawl back into bed with my trusted blankie!
Anita was my aesthetician and couldn’t have been happier with the results. When we met, I let her know I had bad allergies the day before, due to all the nose blowing, the skin around my nose was raw/​irritated. During the steam process, my nose and lips felt super dry and the extraction was a little painful; but after all was said and done, my skin looked pretty darn good, and still does. Sometimes, after a facial, your face might look kind of red and splotchy, but mine was almost luminous. My lips felt burnt and chapped at the end, but Anita put what felt like a glob of cocoa butter on my lips and it was so soothing. My lips felt great. I should have asked what she did, but I’ll leave it a mystery and a treat for my next appointment.
I’m glad I got the gift certicate. I’ll definitely go to Calvert’s again.
