Specialties

We specialize in creating nourishing soup and stock (bone broth) made from scratch using fresh, local and organic ingredients. Our menu changes with the seasons and the availability of fresh ingredients. Our soups and stock are sold refrigerated and frozen at our kitchen and small retail store in Herndon, Virginia as well as at MOMs Organic Market, The Organic Butcher of McLean, Maple Avenue Market in Vienna, The Local Market in Falls Church and online via Washington Green Grocer and Hometown Harvest.

We are also the home of Deborah Joy’s Gluten Free, a gluten free bakery.

History

Established in 2009.

Inspired by my mother-in-law’s Romanian cooking, I started 100 Bowls of Soup with the idea of sharing simple, homemade nourishing soup and stock with friends and family. I wanted to create soup from scratch and real bone stock that was as flavorful and fresh as it was nourishing. I wanted to cook seasonally and get to know the farmers and artisans who grew and raised the ingredients I used.

The soups are fresh and tasty! I had the split pea soup and my friend the red lentil both were delicious. I can’t wait for my next visit perfect for the fall/​winter weather

Stopped in this week and I was really surprised. The smells alone are intoxicating. I purchased a container of Carrot/​Ginger Soup and a container of Parsnip/​Apple/​Ginger Soup. Both are DELICIOUS! Taste is so fresh. I appreciated the fact that they do not salt before hand as sometimes it is way too much. I also taste tested the corn bread and almond cookies… YUMMY!
I think this will become a regular stop for me especially now that fall is here. I saw they were having butternut squash soup this week which means I definitely need to stop back by there.
They do not have any tables or places to sit so everything is to go. You can watch them preparing as the store is basically wide open. I did notice they have cooking classes so that might be something to think about for the future.

Kind of a strange concept. Pre-​cooked soup in plastic containers stowed away in a refrigerator for sale. no seating area to eat there. Fairly over priced soup in a tucked away location in Herndon VA. Doesn’t make sense. Most Herndon folks are most likely making soup at home and for a place to rely on a minutive amount of regular vegan customers I hope its will last.

Amazing soup and baked goodies. Had a minestrone and also a potato leek. Needed a little seasoning, but I appreciate that they don’t load it up with salt before you get it — so you can self-​moderate. Love having them in the neighborhood.
