I’m a fair cook, and my mother-in-law was an excellent cook. I’ve been to more church suppers where the church ladies put their best dishes forward than I can count, but the green beans that accompanied my excellent cabbage roll were the best I’ve ever put in my mouth. Eddie had the Cajun corn chowder which was subtle and savory, and the shrimp and grits. The portions are huge. We decided that the cabbage rolls would travel better in a to-go box and so we both concentrated on the shrimp and grits. Creamy, loaded with shrimp, spinach(a great addition), and fragrant garlic. Wow! Our only regret is that we were too full to attempt dessert. Eat here.

I took my daughters for lunch bc the reviews looked great & I wanted to try a new spot. Menu selection looked better than the food tasted. My jambalaya was bland… my squash/zucchini veg of day was salty & had to be sent back. My daughter’s chicken tenders were fried so hard that she doused them in ketchup & still couldn’t eat them. My other daughter had a burger that she loved tho, so they get 2 stars for that. I wanted to try a dessert, but I think the waitress was upset with us not liking the food & never came back to the table to get the order. That was prob a good thing. I had already spent $ 30 for half eaten pasta & a really good burger, so I did not need to waste any more money.

I have been to the Underground Café twice now and both times it has truly been exceptional. I keep wanting to branch out and try different items on the menu, but the smoked turkey sandwich is so delicious that I have ordered it both times! It’s fantastic! My fiancé loves the pasta jambalaya. We get so excited when we think about the food that we start salivating before we even arrive. The service is wonderful and friendly and the atmosphere is very pleasant. I definitely recommend eating here if you are in the area!

Great place, especially for lunch. I’m a huge fan of the shrimp and grits, and the cabbage rolls are simply amazing. A table beside me ordered the Ruben sandwich, and it looked delicious. The owner is very nice, also. You do have to go to the register to pay, so if you are waiting on a check… You’ll be there for a bit until you figure that out. Lol. They are open 7 days a week for lunch and three days over the weekend for dinner, I think.. Worth the trip.

Formerly the Memphis Street. Owner says she has owned it under both names for 7 years. I had the shrimp and grits. Fantastic! My wife had the cabbage roll and raved about it. We are just traveling through from Arizona and were absolutely delighted with the food and service.
