Spyder Surf

Came in looking for a great pair of sunglasses and had such a sweetheart girl that helped me out. I think we only had to try three pairs before she grabbed the perfect ones. Price was right around what I expected for a good pair and she was really sweet and helpful. I feel bad I can’t remember her name :(

I love the clothes here. All different beach brands, it’s great. I love stopping in. I like the shirts, board shorts, and bracelets the best.

We were in the shop today and bought my 8 year old son a new skateboard. The young man that helped us was amazingly knowledgable and kind with my son. He took time to answer his questions and bro out with him such that he felt like one of the guys. Which is awesome for a single Mom like me. Kudos for the owners or family members of the owners for raising an amazing young man!

They guys (and girls) are always great, friendly and very helpful. Positive vibes, usually pretty decent sales racks, and easy to find quality surf/​skate/​snow clothing and more.

WOW! $ 15 for a snowboard tuneup, super fast turn around!
$ 6 for snowboard boot rental, relaxed policy on bringing them back… they weren’t the prettiest boots, but they worked for what I needed and were a quality brand.
The staff is amazing! I came here initially because Kyle was so helpful on the phone, after spending a day with all the «local» to Culver City places just not being helpful.
I will keep making the drive here for whatever I might need. It’s not convenient for me, but the service is way above par.
Parking lot is kinda small, about 10 spaces, but I’ve never had a problem getting a spot.

I was on the market for a new pair of sunglasses and had been searching high and low for them with negative results.
I live within walking distance of Spyder Surf and even though we had an incident a few year ago I believe in forgiving is forgetting. That mixed with Spyder’s local support of the surfing community found me giving them a call to locate these sunglasses.
I called Spyder and spoke with an employee who was pleasant and extremely helpful. I asked if they carried a particular make/​model/​color of sunglasses in a non-​polarized version. The employee told me he would take a look, he placed me on hold and returned moments later to tell me they had them. I was stoked and asked if they could place them on hold for me so that I could pick them up the following day, I was told ‘no problem.‘
I showed up the next day and asked one of the employee’s working the counter if they had a pair of sunglasses that were placed on hold the day prior. The employee returned quickly with the sunglasses and the transaction was completed.
After I obtained my glasses I walked around the store a bit and see it has not changed much since my last visit. Here at Spyder you will find everything you need (i.e. clothing, surfboards, surfing gear, wax, flops, and backpacks).
If you are new to the surfing community Spyder does offer rentals of boards and I believe they even offer lessons.
Now that the ice has been broken with my recent visit I plan on stopping in again from time to time and check out their store.

Guys that work here are very personable and very cool! My teenage boy loves coming here to check out their skateboards and clothing. They have a nice variety. It’s not a stocked up as ET Surf but it is very easy for parents to shop for the youngsters as it is very organized and clean. They offer free stickers and can order items if not available.

They open at 10am (not 9:30am) & close at 6pm on Sundays, 7pm on Saturdays & 8pm Monday-​Friday.

Spyder surf has always been our go to surf shop for surf boards or clothing. They are all really cool and easy going people working there. I have to give Dennis a compliment on his employee named Chris. My wife requested some tattoos of spyder logos for our son about 6 months ago and they were out of them but Chris asked for our number and Said he would call us when they come in. I thought this was nice but probably won’t get a call back. Sure enough after 6 months Chris called and said we just received tattoos for your son and will put a stack aside for you whenever you stop by. Remind you these are free to customers and still gave us a call saying they have them in. We ran over to the shop that day and bought about 12 shirts from them and some other stuff. Thanks Chris we really appreciate it and thanks Dennis for having such a cool staff!

I’ll preface this by saying, Spyder Surf provided the best customer service I have ever received. Also, this the first and probably only Unilocal review I’ll ever do (unless I experience customer service like this again). First off, store has great location and plenty of parking. Store layout/​environment is optimal and product assortment is great (Spyder Surf branded shirts are awesome as well).
So for my experience… I just moved to LA recently from the Midwest and had been surfing a few times and became addicted (previous snowboarder and wakeboarder). I could tell renting was going to become expensive so I decided it was time to buy… looked on craigslist for a bit for used ones but I didn’t want to get screwed into something busted or not water tight. I found Torq boards on-​line that are cheaper end boards but perfect for starting out. I found Spyder Surf as a retail partner and decided to check it out. I walked in and was greeted by the coolest, friendliest, and most helpful person I’ve ever met. His name was Payne and he made my experience beyond my expectations. Long story short… he answered all my questions, gave me advice, and helped me order a board (also bought one for my girlfriend as well). The boards came in and he showed us how to wax them, put some fins and leashes on, and helped set up the car rack.
Overall, I regret ever even trying Craigslist or anything else in the first place for such an important purchase like a surfboard. My advice is to go to a surf shop and in particular this one. Props to the employer of the shop for hiring Payne, now give him a promotion/​raise because I guarantee you he got your shop my business and many others.

My first time here and I was impressed. I love the whole décor and atmosphere in the store. I came to buy a longboard for easier commuting on the streets and they had a nice selection. Also sold separate parts if you wanted. I ended up buying one all put together already for not to much money. Been riding it ever since. Will definitely come again maybe for a little cruiser board or some new parts… they also sell much more then just longboards. Only thing that was a bummer was the parking but I got a spot luckily :)

The staff at this shop is so nice! My hubby and I have just arrived from Hawaii where he surfs a lot. My hubby wanted to learn about the SoCal surf spots and buy a new board to use until our boards arrive, and the Spyder staff was really sweet to oblige.
We visited this shop a few times and chatted with a few of the staff members here. There was a really nice guy named Payne who spend some time talking to him about the different breaks in the area, and which board would be a fun investment. My hubby already knew he wanted to get a Catch Surf soft top, and the staff at Spyder confirmed it would be a good buy. Be bought the board and a leash that ended up breaking the next day. Spyder replaced the leash for us, no problem. I also must note the store is pet friendly, our pup was with us every time we visited and the Spyder staff was really sweet with him.
They have a great selection of clothes and surf gear, and really good customer service. I loved browsing their sale rack, while my hubby chatted with the staff here. We will totally be back.

Just got some clothes for school n there’s a 25% off everything sale till the 18^th. There’s a lot of cool clothes I don’t surf so I wouldn’t know about all that stuff but as far as clothing goes it’s nice. The workers are all nice too. They could use a little more ac though it was pretty hot in there.

Wen’t here to get a board, great store with a a lot of options. came out happy.

Camping out for shoes for a first come first serve and out of nowhere it’s raffled that’s totally unfair for the customer that been here for days! This shop is garbage they changed the fuels for shoes in point out of nowhere that’s just unfair!

Super friendly and helpful staff! I came in here looking to rent a women’s wetsuit after having zero luck at some other places. I ended up renting a men’s small wetsuit since they did not have any specific to women. This younger guy helped me right away with a dressing room. The woman at the counter with blonde beach curls was friendly and helpful both at checkout and when I returned it several days later. I actually ended up renting the wetsuit for longer than I had paid for. I called them and requested to have it for two more days. They were very accommodating & they allowed me to pay the difference when I returned.
I highly recommend this place!

I really like this place, brought my young son in here for a backpack and the staff was really kind and helpful to him and made the kid feel like a million bucks. They seemed a little more reasonable in price as well.
I would come here again and like that it is a local shop with a friendly staff that is helpful.

So I’ve been looking for a new board, but hadn’t done much more than researching stuff online. It was a little bit of a drive, but drove through Manhattan Beach to check out a lot of the local surf shops. Becker STINKS! This shop didn’t have a ton of long boards, but got a chance to meet Dennis, the owner/​shaper. He knew I wasn’t going to buy a board, but spent a lot of time talking about rail shapes and other things… Yes he’s probably trying to sell you a board, but he doesn’t give that sleazy salesman vibe.
They’re going through a lot of remodeling right now. A new dry cleaner’s rack that will allow them to hold a ton of wetsuits without taking too much space. Of course this means more space for surfboards to display too. They’ll be having a grand-​reopening 7÷23−25… maybe they’ll have some special deals going on?
I’ll be sure to check them out… They just may be the shop to buy my next board.
