Shorewood Realtors

Be careful of who you work with, this is a large group in the beach cities and the realtors vary from amateur to expert. Many of these realtors live in LA-​LA land and it almost seems they are auditioning for a realty TV show. I think they are more worried about how they look and what they drive then just selling an ordinary home to my mom. I was very turned off by several realtors, the worst was a Christa Lyons who is also mentioned below, guess I am not the only one. Many options for realtors in the South Bay, there are ten times more realtors than inventory so take your time and look around.

I recently bought my first house and worked with Ken Freidlander who was PHENOMENAL! It was roughly a two month process for me from the first time I met with Ken until I closed and I never once got to hear what his voicemail recording sounded like. The guy was unbelievably responsive, available and genuinely cared about the place I bought, the deal I got and the entire experience of buying my first house. Just an overall great realtor and a better guy. I would 110% recommend Ken and Shorewood, I wouldn’t be writing this review from the comfort of my new home without him.

If you are looking for a realtor in the Southbay, Shorewood is definitely one of the biggest groups in the area and their marketing is top notch. However, the reason for this review, is that I’m getting so tired of them leaving brochures all over the doorstep. Aaron Klapper, for instance, leaves a shiny flyer on our doorstep only to be walked on by our children after baseball practice then to be blown into our garden. Question: Why can’t you just put it in the mail box?
Again, if you are looking for a realtor, I would say your in good hands with these guys for their door to door efforts. But if you are a homeowner in Manhattan Beach, you may find their littering brochures all over the front yard annoying.

The rating is for Larry Schreiner! We first met Larry while we were searching for what became our first house in 2007. Larry was working an open house in Hollyglen, a neighborhood we had just learned about. We fell in love with the house and called Larry that next day. As first time home buyers we had lots of questions and Larry was patient, open, and direct. He was never short of honest in what we needed to do to get our offer accepted and then walked us through the entire process. He even humored me and took our «Sold» picture that we proudly display on our refrigerator! (incidentally, Hollyglen is a great neighborhood for a first time home buyer or young family!) Seven years later when we decided it was time to move, we called Larry. Again, he was as hands-​on and gracious as the first time. Not only did Larry explain the difference between Southbay neighborhoods, but gave us a reality check on overall investment. As second time home buyers we had even more questions with all the new laws and regulations. Larry was awesome! He even stepped in, when he could, to help push the sellers’ agent along. His approach is very personal and he exudes a great amount of patience. We are about to get the keys to our new home and can’t thank him enough for making the whole process as seemless as possible!

We would like to recommend Donald and Devra McVicar at Shorewood Realtors. They are a super energetic, enthusiastic team. They guided us through the process of selling Mom’s house. They are considerate and sensitive to the needs of the seller and buyer. They negotiated well for us, got a good price for us and the buyer. They always answered any question that we had and responded to our calls and e mails with no delay. They are very knowledgeable about the area that they serve and the details that need to be attended to. They use multiple marketing strategies. They are just a great team!

By far the worst realty I’ve used. Hank Scheinberg mishandled the transaction, costing me 15K. Shorewood and the VP Michael wouldn’t take responsibility. Avoid Shorewood if you’re looking for professional service.

The Managers and company owners are very focused on using legal measures to defend all agents without respect to looking into actual details. I just short sold a home, the agent, well call her (Denise M.) Was BRUTAL. She raked us for everything possible despite our tough financial situation asking for credits for a stove after the close of the deal, because her due diligence was poor during actual inspection. It has been an uphill battle trying to get some basic personal items returned after close. She took advantage of a very distressed and unpleasant situation. I would highly recommend using a smaller more boutique, higher service group. IF they are recruiting you, don’t be fooled, that’s their whole biz. They con you into training, take most of commissions before you can move on to next deal as well. That has been my feedback from friends who have worked there. ZERO EMPATHY for the short sale process or for the other side. Unbelieavably bad form.
