solid local/​neighborhood bar. not a huge place, there’s a decent sized bar greeting you when you come thru the front door. if nighttime, the lighting is a little on the dark side with a green glow. the bar has maybe 8 – 10 wooden stools with back support. the bar top is wooden with no rail and there is a round steel foot rest. the bar back is nothing special with shelves and TVs. to the right of the bar is an eating area with a mix of lower & high top tables. frequently will have a musician setup not far from the door on the south wall. tiled ceiling is a nice touch given how low the ceiling is. great staff and solid food.

This has become my sister and I go to place for sunday brunch! The girl who works there is fantastic! She makes hands down THE BEST bloody mary’s!!! The food is so good as well!

Hello? Nobody home!
My husband and I tried to go here, twice.
First time it was 11:20am (opens at 11:00am) and it was closed up tight. No lights, no one there. We waited until 11:30 and then headed to Standing Room instead.
We tried again! This time it was 4:30−5pm, doors open, lights on, but nobody came out to say hello, welcome, would you like a beer? Damn. We went to Hots and spent all our money on fabulous beers and tacos.
Bad business folks. We will probably not go back for strike three.

Go here every Sunday during football season to watch the STEELERS game. Went last night (a Friday) at 11:45 and was told they had called last call. There were about 15 people there. I was a little mad but, whatever. Went somewhere else. Walking back to my car at about 1:30, still open with more patrons inside! Seriously?! I spend a lot of money here during football season… Turn me away on a Friday night?!
I’m taking my friends somewhere else this season!

This is a great little bar. Right on Hermosa Ave. had the Thursday Special, Clams and a draft beer for $ 14. Very good clams. Wifey had the chicken pot stickers. Also very good. Beer was a little flat but nice and cold. Iced tea a little cloudy (which wifey says means they don’t clean the machine). But this is a good place. I just wish places by the ocean could figure out how to make the bar not stick to my shirt!

On St. Patrick’s Day 2016, the place was very busy, as expected. The wait wasn’t nearly as long as the restaurants on the Hermosa Pier ‘tho. The service level was probably sub-​par due to being overwhelmed, so I’d give ‘em an «A» for effort, as they were gracious, but probably a «C» for execution in that they had the best intents but neglectful in the follow-​through. I’m sure this is or was the exception, not the rule ‘tho.
There’s a Unilocal check-​in for $ 5 off of a $ 25 or more purchase during the weekdays, excluding the Happy Hour, but after 7pm on a Thurs., for St. Patrick’s Day (maybe considered a Holiday), the offer wasn’t honored, as an FYI.
The food was good and portions were fair.
The fish & chips were good, you get 4 pieces of fish and plenty of french fries.
Parking in the area is sometimes tough with the parking meters and limited street parking.
Overall, I’d give ‘em another try outside of any busy times (no major sports, not during pub crawl hours nor holidays) and I’d speculate this may in fact earn the 4^th * and become a * * * * rated restaurant for me.

Unfriendly service, mediocre food. Decent selection of beer though, with a somewhat small number of taps from the local Brewers. Pity, we had high hopes for this place. Nice design, large open windows, hopefully someone else does better with this place.

I’ve been here a few times since I live locally, and it’s convenient to walk to. I love this place because the booths has their own private television you can watch games on and they have excellent french fries, especially the garlic fries! The other food I’ve gotten here has been pretty decent as well. It’s also a good spot to people watch when they walk by to and from Hermosa pier. Although a few weeks ago, my boyfriend and came here later on Saturday night for a snack. We decided to share the mushroom bacon pesto flatbread, and sadly we were very disappointed. I couldn’t get past a couple bites because it was extremely too salty, and my boyfriend agreed it was not tasty at all. We left to the gelato place down the street to clear our palette. McColgan’s — I hope you will consider taking this off your menu, or improving it somehow!

Solid Irish Pub. Food is pretty darn good, beer selection is legit enough, service is great from what I’ve experienced, what more is there to say? West facing and a block from the ocean so the breeze can be quite pleasant. Extra awesome if you happen to be a Steelers fan, but still awesome if you’re not. Two thumbs up from me.

Came here late at night for a beer, great selection of craft beer ! The pandora station was playing nothing but the jams ! I had the Mac n cheese and it was delicious, my bf has a burger and he said it was delicious as well! Customer service was great, will be back for happy hour !

Went for brunch with my daughter yesterday, had a great experience. Had the bacon, cheese omelette. Was big enough to share with my 2 year old angel. Great presentation and delicious. Also had an IPA on draft. I cant remember the name, unfortunately, but it had the word grapefruit in it… very solid.
Service was great. Server was very sweet to my daughter, very prompt and nice. Can’t wait to go back next Sunday with friends.

Their hot spicy garlic wings are to die for! Wish they had a location near me! Will return.

Mickey’s is a favorite of my coworkers.
I have ventured to Mickey’s a few times now to enjoy a good lunch on a workday.
This most recent visit, my coworker and I were greeted at the door by a lovely waitress. Not long after we were seated we were greeted by the owners dog. Obviously this establishment is a very dog friendly place. (The dog was near the front door, not wandering around the restaurant so I should say that I went to greet the dog)
We ordered some calamari to snack on while we waited for our other coworkers to join us which was delicious.
When our coworkers finally joined us, we ordered. I got the mac n cheese (make sure you don’t plan on eating at all the rest of the day because this small bowl of mac n cheese is so thick and creamy that it will take up all the space in your stomach), my coworkers ordered the corned beef and cabbage, an ahi salad, and an ahi plate.
We enjoyed a lovely meal with a warm ocean breeze and enough TV’s to keep our eyes occupied while we stuffed our faces.
As we were leaving the owner of the restaurant, enjoying a meal himself surrounded by friends, happily made conversation with us and gave my coworker a Guinness «Cat in the Hat» hat. Apparently they are good acquaintances.
All in all it was a great work lunch.

McColgan’s is solid. After moving to Golden Hills about a year ago, it has quickly become the go to spot. Always a great chill atmosphere with good food and a mix of local beers on tap.
Pros:
— Connection to the outdoors: Half of the space is completely open to the outside. It’s one of the few spots where I can tie my dog up outside and have a good meal.
— Great mix of local and regional beers always rotating through here. Love it when they have Smog City, Green Flash or unique brews from Stone. Plus, if you come enough, you can be part of the Mug Club for discounts and specials.
— Menu: I recommend the Mussels in white wine sauce. The Irish nachos are also ridiculously good. Tacos are good. Burgers are good.
— Never too crowded: I love always being able to grab a seat (except for during Steelers games).
Cons:
— Corned beef and cabbage: Interesting that the most Irish meal in an Irish themed restaurant is the worst item on the menu. I believe it was canned and slightly microwaved. C’mon, everything else on the menu is so good. Still not enough to drop my 5 star rating.

I’ve been here a few times and it’s always a decent place to go to have a few drinks. Since it’s facing the ocean you get a nice breeze inside the place. I’ve never tried any of the food but I come for their decent tap selection of local brews. Bartenders and servers are always pretty friendly.

This place is fantastic! They have a great happy hour and on Tuesdays they have Taco Tuesday. I had the pot stickers and they were amazing. The watermelon margarita was sweet and refreshing. They have a kids menu so it’s a great family place!

The place was empty tonight but we had cd beer and wine with a killer bowl of corned beef nachos! Oh yea…
Bartender was from Ireland and very friendly with great stories.

— Locale Destination —
It’s on Hermosa Ave and 10^th St in Hermosa Beach.
It’s in the «Sandcastle Plaza» — a little shopping plaza, right next to the big stairs.
Ambiance: The place is wide. Décor is kinda classy but still holding the «Hermosa Beach» vibe — a little more modern twisted version of «Irish» bar. Not bad. The bartender got a thick Irish accent. Bar on the left side and seating area on the right side.
Service: I made the order for to-​go. I know it’s hard to judge the place with to-​go, but other places were closed. I called ahead and 15 minutes to get ready. The bartender seemed cool. Now they offer $ 5 off for $ 25+ purchase — Unilocal check-​in offer.
Parking: Parking? Around here is difficult, though there’re lots of meter parking. There’s a big parking structure on the other side of pier.
Price: It’s a little more than I expected for the bar food. For the quality, I think it’s overpriced.
— Gluttony Expedition —
Corn beef nachos: Big chunks of corn beef, salsa, green sour cream (probably avocado in it. It wasn’t wow.), and nacho cheese on the nachos. Their home-​made chips were very oily and hard. Corn beef isn’t a good topping. $ 10. Failure.
Truffle flies: Fries are a little thicker than shoe strings. Little Parmesan cheese were sprinkled. $ 4. Meh.
Shepherd pie: It’s supposed to have both «potato» and «ground lamb», no? This is tons of potato and only bits of ground meats with a tomato ketchup like weird tasting. I don’t like it at all.

I’m spoiled by this type of food at «Waterloo & City» in LA. Compared with that, I’m not impressed by the food here. Kinda disappointing due to the good reviews on the food. The pictures of beers looked good…

Whoa! This place was a pleasant surprise for me. My hubby and I were walking by around lunch time, and the spot was cute. It had a very open feel and some tables right alongside the windows, which was great because we had our dog with us. We tied him up to a railing outside the restaurant, and sat right by him. Although we were inside the restaurant, we could reach out to pet him. It was great.
My hubby ordered the reuben as he was lured by the sign promoting it. He seemed to enjoy it alright. I ordered the mac and cheese, which was really good. It is really rich, and has stringy cheese, oh… and it has bacon… awesome. It wasn’t very big, but it was plenty for a lunch portion. Their fish tacos also look pretty decent, so I might give those a shot next time. We were there during the week, and it was pretty slow, but they’ve got some televisions around and it looks like a cool place to grab a beer and watch the game.
I would totally come back here to grab some Jameson with a snack. Who doesn’t enjoy a good Irish pub?
