My husband took my 14-year-old daughter in for a simple cut. She had very long hair and she asked that they cut 6 inches. The cut was hurried and my husband had to request they blow dry it. They charged $ 47! The menu says long cuts are $ 32. They said because it was so long it is more work and considered a layered cut. ??? A straight cut is a straight cut. It’s not like she has a gigantic head! My daughter came home and we had to go back to Floyd’s because her cut was unbelievably crooked. I got some mumbo jumbo about technique and new styles. I’m not happy with this experience. The only saving grace was our second stylist. She patiently fixed my daughter’s cut. **** After arguing my case, I was refunded $ 10. Doing the math, I now only paid $ 5 above the listed $ 32 «long cut» price.

This place is real great and the atmosphere is really cool. I went here a lot until they reduced the military discount. Before it used to be 50% off but now it’s only $ 3 off. The haircuts that I received were always good, but I found a closer barbershop near my area for half the price. Offers military discount.

Was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the haircut. Sort of a hipster barbershop, was a little concerned would be more men’s haircuts, but plenty of other women there getting getting their hair done, and are very happy with the results. I’ve gone back to this place on several occasions and have used different stylists, and so far they’ve all been equally good.

Love my hair cuts here. Moved here from Northern California and just not used to paying $ 26 without tip for a haircut. They do a very good job though so I can handle it when I get a hair cut around once a month or two.

I loved the look of the shop. How good of a job do you think ya did if it took 10 minutes? You would think the sides would be about the same length of ya just use a clipper right? That the side burns would match in length? Nothing I can’t fix myself, but damn. The staff did ask if it was alright, but what do you say at that moment? Can’t put the hair back and try again. Maybe I’m too picky, but I should have gone to supercuts if that’s what I wanted and saved $ 15. Kinda bummed me out to start my day off. And again I can fix it myself when I get home. it is just hair, and will grow back.

The atmosphere is nice but the quality of the operators is widely variable. I understand the management puts a lot of pressure on them to turn as many haircuts as possible, so don’t expect most of them to take time to fine tune your look. The biggest problem was that despite who cut my teenage son’s hair none of them seemed to be able to get the back straight or the sides even. When it was pointed out to them most had a lot of attitude about it and seemed really annoyed. With the prices they charge it should be a better haircut, better customer service, and a way better attitude! If you do find a good one be sure you book him/her in advance. Unfortunately a lot of the good ones don’t stay there very long. My son and I decided we could do better for less somewhere else and we have!

I haven’t been to floyds in over a year. Bridgette gave me the floyds cut and I am very happy with it.

Have been to several Floyd’s in Colorado and always got good haircuts. Been to this location a few other times and got mediocre haircuts which is expected for the convenience, atmoshphere, and price. Today’s haircut from Bethany was on point!!! I’m kinda a haircut snob as my sister is a top barber in Denver, so big thank you to Bethany!!!

There are no worries or doubts whatsoever, Dennis is the Rembrandt of hairstyling. Don’t come to your appointment with a plan, just let his genius go to work. Close your eyes and let the new you get on board. It’s a divine experience, every time.

Floyd’s is by far my favorite place to get my hair cut. The atmosphere is great and the staff is very friendly. Dennis has cut my hair since moving to the area. He really listens to what you want, he also gives helpful insight to new hair styles and what will look good on you. I’m always so happy with my hair after getting it done by Dennis. Yesterday he did an all over color for me, it turned out perfect, giving my hair depth and a fresh color. I highly recommend checking out Floyd’s!

Javier left. My husband tried Erin and is very happy with his haircut. She took her time to texture and get the cut right! She also used a straight edge on his neck like a true pro. It appears my husband can stop his search for his new stylist.

My husband was shocked when I said I stopped that a barber shop on the way home to have my hair trimmed. I’ve always gone to salons in the past. I walked in, the girl they gave me to was sweet, did a great job and I was on my way home with perfectly trimmed hair. I’m definitely going to be going back there on Sundays in the future! Such a pleasant surprise!

Favorite place to get a haircut in the Southbay. From the nice lady at the front desk, to all of the stylists, Floyd’s truly does all of the right things! It has an awesome atmosphere to top it all off; right near Hermosa Beach with open windows!

UPDATE: Thank you Tamara(the manager) for personally responding and for quickly and smoothly resolving the issue. I’ve been going to Floyd’s for 8 years(7 years on Melrose and 1 year to this one). I really like it even though their prices keep going up($ 26 + $ 5 tip for a 15 minute haircut is getting a bit expensive). Anyway, last time I was there, I got my haircut as usual(I’m a guy with short hair) and my stylist was a new girl, I could tell by the way she was going really slow and didn’t seem too confident but in the end the haircut turned out to be ok. I get to the front desk to pay and the cashier asks me for $ 32! I said no, it’s $ 26 it’s even written above your head. She insisted that it was $ 32 because it took a while. I was like are you kidding, I got a new girl, not my fault if she’s slow and she responded by saying well our prices went up so it’s $ 32.

I went in just to check it out and get my short hair cut shorter. The guy who worked on me didn’t really clarify how short I wanted it and kind of kept suggesting one look that’s popular now without actually listening to what I wanted. He started buzzing my hair and I knew it was over. But I quickly embraced the length and went with the flow. Then at one point it felt like something went wrong, he made a face, but didn’t say anything to me. When I got home my parents and friends informed me I had a bald spot on the back of my head. Idk this place didn’t treat me like a real customer.

I first came here because a family member recommended her hairstylist, Nancy Ly. Nancy was amazing! I have a lot of hair, so I tend to get nervous when new people cut it, but she did such a great job. I gave her the general idea of how I wanted to change my hair, and she nailed it. I got my second hair cut from her just recently and again, she cut it just right. She’s really honest, and I like that about her. She offers great product recommendations and even showed me techniques on how I can do my hair with the style I got. I’ve even brought my boyfriend to her and she did a great undercut(i think that is what it’s called). DEFINITELY recommend Nancy Ly for your hair needs.

Two things about me…1) when I review a place… I’m honest about it, like it or not. and 2) I enjoy a good haircut… A barber shop, stylist, etc should smell like the stuff they sanitize the combs with… kind of like an inedible licorice and minty freshness… when getting your hair cut there should be either great music, great scenery, or great conversation. I do not wish to be bored. For many years before moving to Hermosa, I lived back east and had old Bob Hall at the Gents Barber Shop cut my hair, up until the week he died… the man could tell a story, and he always had a cold beer for the customers. Then I had Kristy, who was a former NFL cheerleader and rode horses(enough said). But those were ALWAYS great haircuts and a very well spent 45 minutes. So on to Floyds 99 in Hermosa… — First time there… I desperatly needed a haircut while scoping out LA on a business trip… thought the Floyd’s shop was cool… it had personality… it was LA trendy… but the haircut was not good… not good at all. The girl had the personality of a traffic cone, and hands of stone. Her haphazard way of clip and comb, clip and comb was like watching a secretary type one key every 30 seconds. Anyhooooo… it was a bad haircut. So after moving to Hermosa… i tried a couple other places. They were just as scary really… and my hair looked like I was special, but not in a good way… — So… I decided to give Floyd’s 99 another twirl… this time, I checked the website… then read some local reviews… and I chose my stylist… Shannon…good choice… damn fine choice actually… she’s good with the clippers, good with the scissors, and she can hold a conversation like nobody’s business… she remebers my name every time… and get this… SHESMILES… constantly…even if I’ve had a crappy work day or something… I leave smiling… — Also… I like the music mix. I dig the décor. I like the eclectic craziness of the stylists. I think they’ve got their act together and really cater to their customers… and the prices are good(a little high… but…you get what you pay for in life). I’m a fan… good job Shannon… keep it up!
