Cali Cantina

If you liked Cantina Real, you’ll love Cali Cantina! Same great bartender and staff. The menu is fresh and the food is excellent. I had the shrimp ceviche which was divine! They have great happy hour specials too! And, you can watch just about any sporting event at the spacious bar. Is highly recommend Cali Cantina.

We love this place! Friendly staff, affordable but delicious food! Best salsa ever! Would recommend it to anyone in the mood for some yummy authentic mexican food!

The only reason I am posting one star is because we had heard about this restaurant and were excited to go. We arrived at 2:00 pm on Sunday and it was closed.
One star is for the fact that you were closed during posted open hours. Not good.

We’ve been here a couple of times, either a quick stop at the bar or actually sat down and ordered some food in the patio. Every time we’ve been here the place is usually empty which is not a good sign, but we came recently for Happy Hour and the place was empty again on a Friday night. Starting to make me wonder, does no one know of this place or does the place suck? Well we ordered Margaritas and they were actually quite good. The food was really good as well, wet burritos (both chicken and taco) were great. Salsa was great, refried beans were good. The service was just okay, even though the place was empty the servers were more interested in having a group conversation among themselves then checking on if our drinks were empty but they were friendly none the less. Overall, I hope this place stays around because this a better option then the more upscale Mexican place on the pier but judging by the crowd I’m not so sure?

Very good food at reasonable prices. Good beer, and their margaritas are off the chain. Though… It was very hot… arggggg and I went in thinking they were on happy hour as they had it on their sign… But they said no when we sat down and asked for it. .as it is a holiday today… Bummer. But still, great food. And great atmosphere. !!!

Our new favorite Mexican place in Hermosa! Folks are just finding out about it, so no too crowded yet. Great street tacos at Happy Hour! Drinks are pricey, but get the better tequila and it’s worth it. Close to the beach and night life on Pier Ave. Love to sit on the tiny bar patio. We go weekly!

This is a hidden gem. If you like Mexican food then this will not disappoint. Excellent homemade dishes, inexpensive and the friendliest service in the South Bay. Happy hour until 7 and you can bring your pooch to the outdoor seating area. This is our regular go to!

Great food, from salsa to entrees (my tostada was so fresh and delicious!). Drinks were on point, as was the service. Be sure to ask for Carlos, whose warm smile, engaging personality, and professionalism made us feel tremendously valued.

We came in with a party of 11 which included a baby, a dog, and a request to watch some football. Impressively, they were able to accommodate us a seat us right away! The service was excellent, and the favorite drink at the table was the cucumber jalepeno margarita. We all shared some tasty table side guacamole, and my husband and I shared the Fajita supreme which included chicken, carne, asada, and shrimp. It was very flavorful and more than enough food for our big appetites. We also split a carnitas taco which was very moist and delicious. In crowded, always busy Hermosa Beach, this is a really great option to hit if you are looking to eat, bring a group, and possibly even enjoy some sports!

Free chips and salsa? Yes please! Very good margarita and enchiladas as well as the best service. Very happy that I stopped by on my trip to Cali.

When you consistently see a restaurant with no patrons, that should be reason enough. But regardless, a group of us decided to try Cali Cantina and there isn’t enough space in this review to share how poor the service was and how plain the food was.
We ordered 3 margaritas, they brought us 6. We ordered 3 burritos, every single one of them was incorrect. One so much that we had to send it back. At the end of the meal, our server comes to inform us that he’s voided that burrito from our bill. Oh no, just kidding! He voided the burrito they messed up on and then charged us for the replacement burrito.
Thank you for not charging us for your mistake and having my friend have to wait on her food and then pay for it still.
Poor service. Bad food. Took forever (we were the only people in the restaurant). If you’re an establishment in Hermosa and empty on a Friday night… Yup, lesson learned.

This place has the best warm Salsa Verde I have ever had. It was amazing. I couldnt get enough. It would have tasted great on cardboard. The problem is they burned our Fajitas. I know sometimes they keep cooking in the skillet and thats an issue but they didnt have enough oil so everything was really burned. They aslo gave me my draft beer in this large scooner. I just wanted a simple pint. But I will be back just for that Salsa Verde. Im thinking of going to get some right now.

I went to Cali Cantina for Cinco de Mayo and the place was packed. Even though they were extremely busy the staff was very accommodating and friendly. The tacos are a good size and the Margaritas are the best deal in town. The waiter was bringing out a tray w a chile relleno the size of a dinner plate! All the food is made fresh including, salsa’s, guacamole and traditional Mexican dishes. The atmosphere is upbeat and the place was just remodeled so its super clean. They have veggie choices and something for everyone. This is a place is known for their tacos and Margaritas but its really the friendly staff that makes this place the perfect choice for happy hour or dining!

We love Cali Cantina! We live in Hermosa and have probably been here about 8 times since they opened. They have lots of yummy veggie options for me, the view is great, the service is always friendly and the music is always fun. A great new local joint to have around! And the margaritas are BIG!

Ordered take out last night from here! Great service, and the food was awesome.
I can’t wait to come back and eat in and enjoy happy hour.

First try… Loved it — Thought we’d hit happy hour but sat in the restaurant instead. Fabulous service and wonderful food. I had the Chicken Chimi wet with green and He had the Carne Asada Chimi wet with red — both were huge and amazing!
The margaritas were delish — the guac, so fresh. Chips and Salsa were generous. We were checked on by 3 different individuals, where do you ever get that?
Awesome job — Awesome place… Still pretty quiet, word must not be out yet!
Enjoyed it so much, I think we are going back this evening.
My only wish were that they were open earlier on the weekend — it would be great for a Saturday afternoon leisure meal.

Went for happy hour with my wife and baby girl… great service, very friendly and welcoming. We had the quesadilla as well as the chips and guacamole. Both were delicious fresh very satisfying great Happy hour option. And we topped it off with two delicious margaritas… We will definitely be back

The staff is friendly and attentive. We walked into happy hour time. Must have the happy hour Nachos, please add beef, I can’t imagine them with out it. The beef is so juicy and tender the quesadilla is delicious with an added twisted of Anaheim chile peppers. They have an semi out door patio which is refreshing. I would recommend a Marachi to play especially since all the businesses are close after 7pm. The fountain sets the perfect scene for a live Mariachi band. The music would definitely attract the pedestrians walking by.

This place offers an outstanding salsa (hot) and an awesome guacamole. Especially the guacamole has nothing to do with something you would get at a fast food place (no offense). It definitely tastes like freshly made.
The chicken fajitas were also very good. The chicken was very juicy but also had a nice crust.
Overall the food was delicious and I would consider this Mexican place as one of the best I’ve ever been to.
The service is also very good. We’ve basically been dragged into the restaurant which felt a little weird in the first place. But again the service is very good.
Surprisingly the place was not very crowded. It seemed like this place must have been opened recently. If that’s the case I simply want to encourage people to try out this place. If you like Mexican food and get the same quality food like I had today I can’t imagine that you will leave this place unsatisfied.

This place has serious legs. Big margaritas with big service and food. Burrito had an amazing ranchero sauce that was perfect consistency. Margaritas cold and strong. Great Ice. Love it. Great space.
