At Hermitage Dance Academy, our mission is to provide outstanding dance education to everyone – whether you’re looking for the fun and fitness of a recreational class or a pre-​professional program. We strive to instill a love of dance and appreciation of the arts to all who enter our studio. We believe the gift of dance training will last a lifetime, for lessons learned in class are not simply those that build strong technique, but also build strong character.

History

Established in 1997.

Hermitage Dance Academy was opened in the fall of 1997 by our owner, Andrea Woodward, while attending college at Cumberland University. It was always her dream to be a dance teacher and open a studio, but she never dreamed her studio would become one of the best in the country and touch the lives of thousands of students and families over the years. It is definitely a dream come true and she aspires to help her students achieve their dreams as well. The best is yet to come!

Business Owner

Andrea Woodward is the owner of Hermitage Dance Academy (HDA). HDA was opened in the fall of 1997, one year into Andrea’s college studies. HDA has gone from a one room studio with about 50 students, where Andrea taught every class to a six room studio with a dancewear store and a hugely successful competition team and a staff of about 17 teachers. Andrea’s teaching and choreography are in demand throughout the country and she travels often to teach master classes and create choreography for other studios. She also is on staff for the popular KAR Convention National Tour, where she teaches lyrical and jazz. HDA was in the FDC’s top 50 in 2008 and in 2009 her studio was ranked number 8 among the FDC studios. 2010 her studio was ranked #1 in the Southeast region and #10 in the nation. Some of Andrea’s students are working as professionals in the industry at this time. Andrea is also certified to teach by Dance Masters of America.
