I have traveled to numerous places all over, and buffets are my absolutely most hated restaurants ever! This one does not change. I came here accidently with a friend, because the phở place across was closed. The food was old. When I mean old, they were out for more than 12 hours. IF this place was in california, it would have been immediately shut down. The best part of this place was the hibachi grill. That was about it. Everything else was horrible. Rating: Food: 1 Absolutely horrible. Service: 2 Ambience: 3. Surprisingly, it was nice. Price: 1. Too much for horrible food. Overall: 1. Never will come back here again. I would rather go to MCD.

Yes I know, four stars… But keep this in mind, when comparing to other buffets in Richmond they are about the best(*that I’ve found so far and there have been some disasters…). So with that they deserve a bump imho. The food is great, again for a buffet. It’s obviously never as good as menu fresh but it’s great on the run. It’s cheap, lots of choices, and most of those choices are actually decent, tasty and worth a second trip. I’m quite a picky eater at restaurants but I mainly want my money’s worth and they do that. Is this place anything spectacular? no… it’s a buffet… is it good when you’re in a buffet hungry as heck mood? YOUBET! :) NOTE to manager … *You have a neat waterfall decoration but it’s never been cleaned based on it’s appearance. Since it’s nasty, dirty, filthy, and it’s RIGHT when you walk in, instead of being a welcoming WOW factor it ends up about making you want to turn around and leave quickly and not even try the food… Think about it, if you can’t maintain your facility how can you maintain your food quality? Get the place cleaned up and you’ll have a lot more reviewers in there imho…

Pretty average food. The appeal of it is that it’s quick, cheap, and good for accommodating large parties. I’ll admit that I really enjoyed the custard bun and taro bun and got two of each.

Newer location but same old service and food. With the other restaurant choices nearly, this place isn’t worth it.

I’ve been here recently since my friend really wanted to go. The good news is that the sushi quality is a bit better, the bad news is that everything else is not really edible. I wish a can describe it, a whole buffet with things that you will not eat in a billion years. The hibachi grill cook always overcooks everything and it never tastes right. For a Thursday lunch it was super empty, and I can see why. Go to Hibachi Sushi which is a bit better at least if you want to go to a decent Chinese buffet.

A great quick and inexpensive buffet. The sushi buffet is well worth it for the lunch price. It offers the same type of food that you’d find at many Chinese food restaurants in the States. Overall, you get what you pay for and at $ 7.75 for a lunch buffet, that’s not bad. In comparison with other buffets in Richmond, I’d say this one is better.

They quality of this Buffett has gone down quite a bit since it opened. We came here for dinner on a weeknight around 6:30, the food looked like it has been sitting for a while. Wasn’t worth the $$

Seriously the worst, they stop putting out food at 6 despite being open much later. Food is sub par for even a buffet.

Well in terms of a buffet, this is one of the better I’ve ever had. Flaws aplenty though. We paid at the beginning(including tips) which is super duper duper weird. The deal was crab for dinner… no crab. 15 $ a person. Really creepy waiter. What food I did have was good though. If you’re in the mood for crappy food in bulk, then this is the go to place.

The food here was appallingly terrible. TERRIBLE. SICKENING. I’m surprised I didn’t throw up after one small plate. There was not a wide selection of Chinese dishes(they were all beef or fried chicken), and everything tasted the same: overloaded with sugar and fat, and not in the good way. Just… sticky, yet dry. The American food options were unappealing at best, and the several different types of sushi were filled with a wide variety of barely passable imitation crab, cream cheese, and RICE. Some only had rice in them. Why even bother? I am from the west coast, and I’ve always enjoyed Chinese buffet in general, but this was so, so, so unbelievably bad. My fiancé and I felt nauseous even through the morning after eating here. How did this cost us $ 11 per person?! DON’T EVEREATHERE. Go literally anywhere else for food.

Went here for lunch with a few co-workers today and came back to work with a stomach ache. We all three have spent longer than we would have liked in the bathroom this afternoon. The hibachi grill seemed to be one of the few main dish selections that wasn’t fried or overly oily or creamy. However, the way it was cooked was much too oily for my taste. I would suggest they try to include more steamed foods in their selection. Steamed dumplings would have hit the spot, however, all I could find were oily. I tried a dumpling despite the fact that they were cooked in oil, and bit into something crunchy on the inside… a very unpleasant surprise. I do love the waterfall in the front area, though.

First, let me dash your hopes and dreams by saying that THECHOCOLATEFOUNTAINISGONE! Okay, take some time to recover. Anyway, I’ve been there a few times since its disappearance and it is definitely gone. Seemingly for good. Their food is okay. Not great. Typical Chinese buffet fare. However, the last time I went, which will be the last time I go, I decided to do my body a favor and have a salad first. Oops. Rotten lettuce. Gross. I brought it to the attention of someone who seemed to be in charge and he said they would bring out new lettuce. Another customer told me she thought the lettuce was gross, too. Long story short, it took over an HOUR for them to replace it. In the meantime, the other woman said she saw at least one other person go up there. Of course, the staff was very rude about the whole thing. I ended up reporting it to Henrico County.

The short version(out of five) Flavor: 3 Originality: 3 Presentation: 3 Service: 3 Not sure why there’s a lot of negative reviews on this place. Granted, the quality of the food is slightly less and the selection is typical of what you’d find at most large scale buffets, but for the price, it’s quite awesome. As mentioned, you don’t come here expecting top shelf sushi. If you’re looking to step up the sushi factor, head across the street to Sushi King. This is one of the few places that serves a decent dumpling, sticky rice, and a couple of items you’d expect to see at a dim sum place(like chicken feet). Surprised to see that they offered tripe. The hibachi was your standard affair. Decent selection of meats, veggies, and noodles. Seafood-wise, mussels, clams, shrimp(on the small side), and broiled fish. Desserts included popsicles and ice cream(no yogurt). There’s a variety of fruit too. The service is acceptable and tended to your drinks and cleared the plates without too much of a wait. So would I come back, yes. Temper your expectations and your belly and wallet will be happy.

Teppanyucky is more like it. Lots of sticky handed children running around and food sitting out way too long. The waitress refilled drinks often with a smile. The odd blue light inside made me feel sick

The photos of this place along with a set of coupons we received in the mail brought us to Teppanyaki today. Going into a buffet you have to get a certain mindset that the food you’ll be eating is buffet food and not high class cuisine. That said, there are some good things to say about this location. –Food: Holy cow. There are so many choices. Chicken, Seafood, Fruit, Steamed Dishes, Soups, Salads, Breads, Hibachi, Sushi, and more. I found it most interesting that there were various steamed buns and a whole steamed food station, something I haven’t really seen in a buffet before. There is also an American section with pizza and chicken nuggets, etc, so if you have a picky eater afraid to try new things, there should be something here. Basically, if you like food at all, you should be able to find at least something here. It’s also worth noting they have a Hibachi grill and some sushi chefs. I did have a piece of sushi and it was pretty good, so if you’re a fan of sushi, you can easily get your money’s worth. Again, not the highest quality sushi, but for $ 7 – 10 for anything you want in the whole place, it’s not bad. That said, not everything was that good. I’m sure I’m being a little overly critical, but some of the chicken dishes like the General Tso’s tasted a little soft or underseasoned. I get it, it’s a buffet food and some of it sits, but you have to take it into consideration. I will say though that for every dish I found«meh», I found one that I really liked. My favorite things were the Black Pepper Chicken, Salmon, Fried Donut(these things are too damn good), Mandarin Oranges, Hot and Sour Soup, and the Marshmallow Fruit Salad. There were things that I liked but were a little ruined by sitting out at a buffet I think. For example, the Steamed Mushroom and Scallion Bun was really good, but the bun was sitting and had started to dry out. Steamed buns are tasty because of the moistness they have, so when they get a normal bready texture, they become less appealing. Unfortunately, at a buffet you don’t know this until you bite into some things. Fortunately, it’s a buffet so if you don’t like it, you don’t eat it, yeah? –Cost: Sundays are apparently dinner all day, which made it about $ 10 a person before our coupon. $ 10 isn’t bad for all you can eat. The lunch during the day is $ 7, which is even better, and actually quite a good deal. –Atmosphere: The place is absolutely huge. And blue. Yes, the lighting over the food is all blue. I kind of like it actually. Also, for how many people and tables there are(there has to literally be enough seating for easily a couple hundred people, or more), the place is really clean. –Service: Hmmm. You pay when you get in. You aren’t really assigned a wait staff member, but rather one comes to you to deliver drinks and takes plates. It’s not really clear if they are assigned to you or not, so that part was a little confusing. Thankfully, it’s a buffet so you go at your own pace. –Overall: Teppanyaki isn’t bad. I think my reason for being a 3 instead of a 4 is the hit-or-miss ratio of the dishes. I expect some dishes to be not as fresh, but I found too many tasting like that. I think it’s the luck of the draw really, because there was plenty that tasted good. Was it the best buffet I’ve ever been to? No. It was however the largest buffet I’ve ever been to, and the amount of available food is huge. The variety alone is worth checking out. I’m sure I’ll check it out again for lunch one day because it does let you get a lot of food for your money.

I give this restaurant two stars. I don’t think I will be back considering the Hibachi Fusion Buffet was way better than this.(And when you have 3 Asian buffets within a 5 mile radius, it’s okay to have a favorite.) When you walk in, it’s a little confusing what you have to do, so I’ll make it simple for anyone who has never been, and also because when you walk in, they just look at you like you’re an alien and do not give you any direction. So here’s what to do: 1. Pay first(I know! it sounds odd, right!?) 2. Give your receipt to the host(ess). I find it a little odd considering that if you are paying by card, you have to leave the tip before you even sit down to eat! So the food: Compared to the other buffet I went to, there aren’t a lot of choices. I was impressed by their dessert bar. The«hot» food wasn’t so hot. In fact, it was quite cold and it wasn’t that great. Near the hibachi grill, there was a big chunk of meat labeled«hot dog.» I’m hoping someone made a joke out of this by labeling it that, but I’m a little confused. I took a picture of it anyway and attached it to the page.(I thought it was unique) Enough about the food, let’s talk about service. It was around 8 at night and the waitress was refilling the salt, pepper, and soy sauce containers on the tables. She kept having to ask us to pass over each item so she could refill it and I thought that it was very inappropriate. Anyway, there it is! I hope my review was helpful.

West Broad St, here in Richmond is becoming quite the Meca of Buffet Dining, and I have yet to hit them all… lol The problem I have with Buffet Dining is… I come out feeling like the«Pillsbury Doe Boy». Way toooo much food… I was anxious to try Teppanyaki Grill and when I walked in, I thought I was in Vegas. Huge water fall, Low key lighting and the lighting on the food was very dramatic, with the feeling… you need to eat a LOT. So, what did I do… just that… EAT a LOT! However, I did it differently this time… I made about 12 trips to the Buffet tables as I only took very small portions so I could try as many as possible. I thought the Sushi was excellent and fresh… Go for it! I even had my fair share of the Crawfish, and 5 were not enough as the amount of meat which I got out of the tail probably made a tablespoon… so put a handful on your plate. The food was hot and tasty. They have plenty of condiments of varies kinds so if you want Hot & Spicy, they have it… I was not able to try the Hibachi Grill, however this will be on my next trip. They have a little of everything in there for you, including Pizza. I saw a guy eating pizza and I wondered who would eat pizza in a Asian Restaurant. Each his own I guess… lol You pay before you go in and the Hostess seats you. They want you to pay your Tip ahead of seating which I do not like too much… however I left 15% in the hopes the service would be very good… It was, as they clean your table often, or at least mine since I ventured to the buffet 12 times… So, if you see me in line filling my plate, please do not push me away… I am trying to figure out what I want next… I will be heading back, however I am back heading down Broad St once again and on my next Buffet Visit it will be across the street to the Afghanistan Buffet diner. WOW! so many choices in eating cheap… :-) I posted photos of the food… Enjoy!

One thing you need to do before stepping into a buffet(actually do this for most things and your chances of being disappointed decreases a good amount) set your expectations… LOW! 99% of all buffets dont deliver/cook the best type of food, but their attempt is make food at a decent quality level across the board and not really excel at one particular dish. Went tonight again with my whole family(about 24 of us now…) and we had three tables and only ONE waitress… Teppanyaki please hire more help! Service was pretty slow and our waitress seemed confused about our drink order which wasn’t that complicated. Dont expect most buffets to be clean; this include the actual hot plate/hibachi/dessert/sushi area… people don’t care when getting food and dropping it everywhere. This place doest a decent job of cleaning up after people. The selection is best in the RIchmond area though, they’re pretty fast at refilling most of the popular dishes so you dont have to wait long. They have an extensive sushi selection, salad bar, good size dessert station WITH a chocolate fountain and various pastries, soups, your typical Asian fare with American food. Their seafood consists of fried shrimp, their special LOBSTER, and fish. I think most people go here because their quality of food is a little higher, and their selection is unmatched by local competitors. SN: you gotta pay BEFORE you sit down and eat… Also, only comparing this location to other buffets I’ve been to in the area.

We received some coupons in the mail which made an already cost-affordable restaurant even more inexpensive! I had already been to the Laburnum location, so I decided to check out this one on Broad St. I slightly preferred the interior of this Teppanyaki Grill and Buffet(maybe because it was newer and brighter), and the water at the entrance looks cool. The layout and food offering is pretty similar to the other location, although I feel like the sushi here was more plentiful and better presented. I also think that the chocolate fountain is unique to this restaurant. Once again, I thoroughly enjoyed my food, but I wouldn’t call the dishes themselves mind-blowing. Since I came for lunch this time though, I could not believe I was getting so much food and variety for only $ 6(post-coupon discount)! Even at normal prices, this buffet is simply unbeatable for its value, so whenever I am extremely hungry and don’t wan’t to spend a ton of money, I will probably make my way back here.

For reasons I cannot comprehend, every blue corn moon, or some other unmeasurable denomination of time, I get this craving for Chinese buffet. Of course, it makes absolutely no sense, because it’s no secret that Chinese buffet food is terribly bad for anyone’s health outside of moderation, because nobody goes to any sort of buffet because moderation is involved. But anyway, I found myself in Richmond, when the carnal craving for Chinese buffet struck me recently. Some family members and I drove past Teppanyaki, and I thought«hm, there’s one of these up in Northern Virginia, up in Manassas, that I also happened to review atone point.» Long story short, I three-starred them too, because in the end, it was nothing out of the ordinary, but it did have a very good price going for them. But when I reminisced about the Teppanyaki Grill up in NOVA, it was like thinking about that one girl in your history, that you don’t really bring up when bragging about your conquests. The dirty little secret, so to say; you didn’t really pursue her because deep down, you actually cared about what others would think of the visual of you and her together, but the reality is that she really did have a great personality and was admittedly«fun,» while«behind closed doors.» Well the Richmond Teppanyaki Grill is Manassas’ twin sister. And when I saw the sister, combined with the insatiable craving for Chinese buffet, it was like going in determined like a drunken mistake, but I wasn’t the least bit drunk, because I don’t drink in front of my family, but I still wanted Chinese buffet. Anyway, the Richmond Teppanyaki Grill is off of Broad Street like 60% of all Richmond-area business, towards the West End. It is in the same plaza as a Food Lion, so there is a ton of parking, yet lazy gluttons will still circle the first three rows of parking instead of occupying the vast sea of unoccupied spaces beyond that. This Teppanyaki is way better equipped than the one in NOVA. The ceilings are higher, the place is cleaner, and frankly, the staff was better. The staff is quick, attentive, and friendly, and quick to refill drinks and clear dead plates. I got there at 6:30 pm on a Saturday night, and that was apparently the perfect time, because by 7 pm, there were some massive lines of families ready to eat some unhealthy, guilty Chinese buffet. The food: if you’ve been to one Chinese buffet, you’ve been to them all. Teppanyaki is not really any different than any other well-equipped Chinese buffet. However, this is the first time I’ve seen a Chinese buffet with lobster on the buffet. Naturally, this turns into one of those situations where everyone camps the lobster tray, and when a new batch comes, the four people lucky enough to have the tongs will typically hoist every single good piece they can, unapologetically root and sort through the pile and ruin it for everyone else. It’s a good thing I’m not that big on lobsters, or crab legs on buffets, no matter how much they’re the«worth your value» items. I came for what I came for; portions of spring rolls, crab rangoons, General Tso’s chicken, and lo mein, only limited by my appetite at the time. None of it was the best quality in the world, but it’s Chinese buffet, so the ceiling of expectations really isn’t that high. When I left the place, I was stuffed, kind of drunk on lustful gluttony, and the carnal need for Chinese buffet was quenched. For now. $ 10 a person, not including drink, and apparently the RVA area has coupons for the place circulating all over, at any given time, so you might be able to nix the cost of the drinks. You really cannot find a better bang for the buck at that price point, for unlimited buffet. I had clicked three stars prior to writing this drivel up, but the more I think about it, the more I think that the place deserves more than that. And since I can’t log in half stars, I’ll be nice and give it an undeserved fourth. It turns out that the sister in Richmond was a tad bit more talented than the dirty past in NOVA.
