THISPLACEISNOLONGERTHERE. Just wanted to share(after attempting to go to the location) that this place does not exist anymore. There was a banner over the old sign saying another Thai restaurant was coming soon

We came in to order some appetizer and some entrees. Not only did they bring up the wrong food at first, one of our friends had to wait till all the rest of us to finish eating until he got his food finally, the appetizer was over cooked with charcoal on it, and his food was under cooked, the meat was raw. The waitress was really mean and kept arguing with us, plus the waiter who claimed to be the manager was rude as well and refused to take our groupon! Do not recommend anyone going to the place!

Cute little spot in a strip mall near short pump mall. I used a groupon and went with three others. We tried a couple of the appetizers — our favorite was definitely the nam tok(great barbecue flavor!). My appetizer was the fired red curry, which had a great flavor — I just got back from Thailand recently and the curries were very similar! My husband’s dish was beef and chicken with spicy garlic, and he liked the flavors. The service was ok — I think the server was a little younger & definitely tried to take one of the dishes when someone was still eating off it! Otherwise, we would recommend this place — affordable, quiet, and delicious :)

Great Phở and the Fired Red Curry is also fantastic. I’ve always had take out and never had a problem. Small warning about ordering by phone ahead, sometimes there is a communication breakdown depending on who answers the phone. I’ve had to hang up out of frustration a few times in the past because my order clearly was not understood. The one time I tried to power through, the order came to us incorrectly. Just a small word of caution on that front.

Prices and service were very reasonable. Although the food wasn’t the best of Thai I’ve had, it was decent. Will be back when the cravings come back.

I wasn’t impressed over all by the food or atmosphere. The waitress somehow made our order way more complicated than it needed to be, and it took a lot longer than normal for our food to arrive. So yeah, I’d probably say there are better Vietnamese restaurants in the short pump area. But, the dumplings were alright

I really want to give this place 4 stars, but I can’t. I went on a Sunday night. Now, I will say that the food had great flavor. I was not disappointed with that part. However, the service was painfully slow. There was an hour wait between getting our appetizers and actually getting out entrees. And that’s not including how long we waited to actually order. To make it worse, there was no acknowledgment of the long wait. The inside is nothing fancy. It was really quiet… not in a «this is so romantic» quiet. There were a few people that came in for pick up orders and they also had bit of a wait. Like I said, I want to try them again, because the food was good. But I think it might be a while.

We’ve been coming to Lemongrass for three years and it’s become our go-to place for Vietnamese and Thai food. It’s always fresh with large portions for a great price… often better with Groupons. We recommend the satay appetizer(best I’ve ever had) followed by Lemon Grass Chicken and/or Spicy Sah Te(back page), but there are SO many great dishes!

I consider myself a foodie and RARELY give 4 stars. This place is great! We had Larb and 2 lemongrass vermicelli bowls. We think they were the BEST we have ever had! Try this place! You won’t be sorry.

Ordered coffee to start. Wonderful, with sweet condensed milk at the bottom; to order, fresh drip… right in front of you, YUM! Very strong! Almost the perfect dirty chi, but STRONGER! Food is very fresh and with great proportions. A must try; great for sharing & is encouraged. Good eats! My favorite is the paper rolls.

This is one of many Asian fusion cuisines in the Glen Allen area alone, but it also one of the most authentic in my opinion. Though we went at almost an hour before closing(no customers besides us), I would have to believe that it does fairly well all day. One small issue that isn’t even relevant to me really is that they are essentially in the middle of nowhere with no street view. The lemongrass beef phở was surprisingly good as the broth is one of my favorites. The noodles were alright and the meat was good but again, the broth was king. The Tom yum soup was good too as well as the satay chicken. Both the Thai and Vietnamese spring rolls were actually quite good as I normally don’t favor them. Also, for all those Phở So 1 bandwagoners, the phở here at lemongrass stays hot even after I finished the food. The prices are good for the portion sizes and quality. There is also some fantastic ginger ale that definitely didn’t taste very carbonated. I recommend this to anyone in the short pump area and even all throughout Richmond who are willing to drive and get some quality food.

The lemongrass Phở Soup was phenomenal! It’s my favorite dish there. Also, the crispy potstickers are completely filled with meat and taste awesome!

Had a Groupon for Lemongrass, so I decided to try it out. It’s located out in the Short Pump area, in a little side strip mall. The interior is cozy and was kept comfortably warm on this cold winter day. There is a chandelier in the middle of the room, which seems a little out of place(probably leftover from whatever this restaurant was in the past before becoming Lemongrass). The remaining decorations on the wall had Southeast Asian flavors. Service was okay throughout. When we entered, there was no one at the front register or any employee in the seating area, so we had to wait about a minute before being acknowledged and seated. Our waitress was a friendly older lady, who checked on us one time during the meal. Overall, fairly hands-off service that was neither terrible nor spectacular. The food itself was pretty good. There are separate Thai and Vietnamese sections of the menu. I ordered a green papaya salad and a stir-fried noodle dish. The green papapa salad was tasty, although a little on the wetter side(had been soaked in the sauce for a while). The stir-fried noodle dish(can’t remember the name) was something I had never had before(which was why I ordered it). It came with medium-wide rice noodles with shrimp, scallops, and squid in a light soy/curry sauce. Prices were reasonable and portions were not bad. Overall, a solid restaurant, but a little far from home for me so I might not frequent it in the future.

The first time I visited with a friend and asked to speak with the owner, she introduced herself to me as a Vietnamese businesswoman who started out as a tailor in the region and has many connections in her community. She has created a very classy restaurant that is extremely generous and well priced. She hired both a Thai and Vietnamese chef, each to create their own specialties. The next time I came with my wife and we found the phở to be excellent, and she explained the health benefits of the marrow that cooks in the bones that becomes part of the broth. Though we didn’t have the best experience with her tailor shop, we did enjoy her restaurant and its friendly service.

The food here is excellent. I bought a Groupon and went for dinner, and bought two more Groupon deals before we left the table.

Disappointed! Bought the groupon. and Went here on a Sunday night. Really disappointed by the quality of the food. Most of it felt like canned/packaged food reheated and served. The peanut dip withe the fresh spring rolls was absolutely horrendous… the phở lacked freshness One extra star for the service Like Unilocal says… meh… there are better that i have tasted… and there are better if you drive an extra mile or two

I have been to the House of Vietnam on many occasions, however after moving out of the Westend area, I have not been in a while. The other day when I was in the shopping center at Pump and W. Broad, I noticed a New Sign, saying Lemongrass Thai & Vietnamese Cuisine. I love the Name of Lemongrass and the sign, so it sparked my interest in wanting to try and see what their Phở was like, and I am glad I did. I came back the next day as it was a VERY cold & windy day here in Richmond, so I was looking for some«Comfort Food» to say the least. I, always go well after lunch so I can find good seating and the first thing I didn’t like was the wooden chairs. They are HARD on the Butt… I wanted to see what their Phở was like, and they had some Phở/Noodle dishes which I had not seen before. The waitress was very accommodating, and since I did not want«Fish Balls» in my Phở, she said NO problem. So, I ordered the«My Tho Noodle Soup» with Rice Noodle, Beef, Chicken, Shrimp and Pork in a Chicken Broth. AND yes, this is how they had Phở spelled«Tho». The Phở came out steaming Temperature Hot as I like it, and the Chicken Broth was excellent in taste. I had Hot Teas which they DONOT charge and I started to dive into this Comfort Food. The waitress came around several times wanting to know if everything was OK and if I needed anything. The service was great… It is nice to see different NEW Phở type of dishes on a menu now as I feel like I have been eating the same Phở over and over even though I have been in many different places. The combination of these 4 Proteins in the Chicken Broth was outstanding and a MUST try… Overall, I look forward in returning when I am in the neighborhood again. I want to try the Curry dishes. So, if you walk in and see me seating there… Don’t stay too long, as I will be busy enjoying my food before it becomes cold…

At Lemongrass I was served a lemon meal. I wanted it so badly to like the place, but the food was just not up to par. I ordered chicken drunken noodle and a grilled roll special(the kind you make your own roll). My grilled roll meats were basically bunch of sandwich steak meats grilled(?) til it got charred partly, then poured sauce on top. No marinated brown caramelized sugar coating on fat little pieces of. I suspect the sauce on top was the light brown peanut sauce that they serve with rolls. I got fish sauce with my rolls and they were nuoc cham at its most basic — pour fish sauce, add sugar. Where a pungent, sweet, sour, and spicy should meet, there was just pungent and sweet. As the previous Unilocaler commented, you have to cut your own meat for your roll since pieces were so big. Parts of the meat were so badly burned you could not eat it. Instead of try re-grilling the meat, they kindly tried to hide them under lettuce and rice noodles. Low blow! The restaurant owner says she also owns an alteration shop in the same shopping center. I appreciated her friendly demeanor except when she said everything here was very ‘fresh’ but my cucumber served with the roll was ‘expired’. The drunken noodle with chicken had very little heat punch and chicken was very dry. The service was so pleasnt but the food couldn’t meet my expectations. Overall I felt as though the food was very bland. Maybe it was a bad day, or I picked a wrong item in the menu. The restaurant had good flow of visitors while we were there. But I will probably not go back here again. It wasn’t because I received a bad service. Service was great. It was because I felt as though my 17.95 grilled meat lunch was made by a cook who didn’t care about the people who were his/her diner. I felt like my lunch had very little effort or care put into it.

A quiet little place tucked away in a strip mall in the far West End. With a number of good Unilocal reviews, DH and I wanted to give it a try. We started off with crispy spring rolls and shrimp in rice paper rolls. For dinner, DH had phở(as is his custom) and I opted for the spicy chicken in lemongrass sauce, which packed a bit of a bite. Our orders were plentiful and filling. Plus, I had some leftovers for lunch the next day. Service was good and prices were reasonable. We will certainly return in the future. Next time, I will see how they do Pad Thai.

For those who lunch in the Shortpump area, Lemongrass is the restaurant formerly known as House of Vietnam in the Martin’s shopping center at Pump and Broad. I’ve come here for years when it was HoV and was concerned to hear it had changed ownership. Their service friendliness and consistently great food was always a highlight to my lunch rotation. Alas, so far, they seem to have kept most elements of the original and added a Thai menu to the selection. I’ve only been a couple of times but my favorite Vietnamese dishes are just as good. I think they have the best bun thit nuong in Richmond, by the way(B19 on the new menu.) The staff seems largely unchanged, so the friendliness and service quality are still great. Their expansion to Thai food is also nice to see though they have some competition with nearby Thai Flavors.
